“Great hotel in Cozumel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

My family of four, including 2 young children, enjoyed our stay in September. The hotel felt somewhat empty, which may be a plus for some.

The staff is friendly, and the property is lovely. Our room opened directly onto the beach with easy access to the pool.

Between two waterfront restaurants is a small protected part of the beach that is great for children to swim in and see lots of small fish. My wife and I swam around the snorkeling areas adjacent to the hotel but didn't see too many fish.

The only criticism I have is that the swimming pool looks dated, with some missing tiles, etc.

Presidente provides one of the nicest places in Mexico to get serious about R & R. The reef room looks out over the water with your own private patio to access the beach. The diving and snorkeling is fantastic with a fully functioning dive shop to handle all of your equipment and dive trips. The night dives are something not to miss if you like diving. Whether you dive or not, the atmosphere offers what is best about Mexico.... beautiful clear water and wonderful views of the ocean with direct access to swimming and snorkeling. This hotel offers a cozy getaway for couples of all ages, but is child friendly as well. The staff are warm and welcoming. The Presidente has security on site with gated access. Cozumel is a great little community where you always feel safe.

Room Tip: Choose a reef room or a beach front. They are well worth the money

Check out the Scuba du dive resort onsite. They are fair priced and very trustworthy. They keep your gear and wash it every day for you. The hotel staff are excellent and the property is tucked away with gated security.

Best hotel I've ever stayed at, and I travel for a living.

Went for a long weekend with the family. We believed we booked in the best hotel in Cozumel and we were right. We did not wanted to go for the all inclusive this time. The location of the hotel is perfect, just outside of town so it is peace and quiet and just a few minutes from downtown.

You can enjoy the nice beach, which most hotels do not have, and spots for snorkeling too. You can take scuba tours right from the hotel's dock. I took one and the service was great, it is a separate company from the hotel but they operate inside.

My wife and I enjoyed the spa, kind of pricy but worth it. The rooms were excellent, our's had two showers, one inside and one outside in a private patio. It felt great to shower "outdoors".

Breakfast buffet was pretty good with plenty of choices. Unfortunately we can not say the same for lunch time. That is the one thing we did not like much. They have an Italian restaurant but we did not tried it.

Room Tip: Ocean front I the first floor are very convenient to no to the beach and back.

We have been going to this hotel for the last five years, since it was renovated after the hurican. It has the best location on the island, perfect for scubadivers & snorkel, especially for kids, it is the safest beach ever.

The service is extremely friendly and personal. The food is very good, especialy the Alfredos.

There are a lot of activities for all the family directly on the hotel.

I would say the best destination on the Mexican caribbean.

Room Tip: Choose the lower level, right on the beach.

The location is perfect. It is. 5 to 10 minute taxi ride to town or about an hour walk. It is right on the beach, and quiet and peaceful. There is a dive shop at the hotel and they take you by boat right from the hotel. The dive sites are all within a 30 minute boat ride from the hotel. For the two tank dives you leave the dock at 8 and are back by 12:30 where you can sit on the beach and have lunch. For a minimal fee of $5/ day they will wash your dive equipment, hang it to dry and have it ready for you the next day. The food is excellent too. We didn't leave the hotel much because the hotel was the nicest part of the island.

Room Tip: We enjoyed stayin gon the first floor on the beach. Then, after scuba and a shower we just sat outs...

We just returned from our first stay at Presidente Inter-Continental in Cozumel. It was our third trip to Cozumel with our two kids and about our 10th trip to Mexico. We usually do all inclusive but thought we'd try a nicer resort this time. Our son was diagnosed as gluten intolerant a year ago, and we thought it would be easier for all of us if we could talk to chefs and eat in the city (and it was!). I contacted the resort a month before our arrival and Chef Daniel responded personally with some gluten free options for our son. The food was freshly prepared. The servers, bar tenders, front desk staff and cleaning pros were all extremely nice. It was pricey, but we were expecting that, and so we did do some grocery shopping for snacks and beverages. We ordered drinks intermittently and ate a snack for lunch and breakfast and dinner at the resort or in town.

Things I LOVED: lots of clean, dry towels, freshly prepared food, interesting guests to meet, the snorkeling was amazing! We saw sting rays, lion fish, parrot fish, eels, barracudas and many other fish.
We upgraded our room to a beach side and it was so worth it. We snorkeled several times a day. We could literally walk out or door and in about 700 feet, be in the ocean seeing amazing sights. We had a patio that was perfect for drying our great and keeping our room clean. The resort was full of divers and snorkelers, so our equipment was safe. My husband and our son took a scuba lesson with Franciso. He gives a free intro lesson in the pool. And then no pressure-you can take a 2 hour classroom and ocean lesson that counts toward certification. My 11 year old loved this. Francisco is a father, dive master and was very knowledgeable and patient.

My son did have a mishap in the pool. He stepped on a broken tile on his way out and badly cut his foot. The life guards took excellent care of him that day. The next day we had to call the front desk as the bleeding needed to be controlled. They had an on staff paramedic who came to our room every morning for the rest of the week to clean the wound and re-dress it. Because he missed some water days, they took care of his drinks and food for Wed-Sunday. I am going to contact their management company and insist they fix the pool because we found several broken tiles during the week and they were all very sharp.

All in all, we are usually easy, happy travelers who are just content to be away from the harsh Chicago winter. Things are different in Mexico and that is what we like. If you like to enjoy the ocean wild life and enjoy meeting interesting people from all over the U.S. and globe, this is a nice treat. We would definitely go back.

Side note-we ate at Fettucine's the last night-their in house Italian restaurant and it was very good!

Hints: buy some food and drink in town and intersperse them with resort items to save money. Bring your own snorkel gear if you've got it.

Room Tip: The upgrade to beach front is worth it!!
