We stayed for 3 nights in first few days of April, tail end of spring break for our 11 year old daughter. This is our second stay here; last time about 5 years ago. We decided to return because we had such a good feeling last time and because we are avid snorkelers. We have snorkeled in many places in Hawaii and the Carribean but have never found a hotel that has such ease of access to a great reef right outside your hotel room.
This time, we booked an ocean view room and then were upgraded to an ocean view suite because we are members of InterContinental's Ambassador Club. Ambassadors is an upgrade of InterContinental's Priority Club frequent stay program. It costs $150 first time and $100/year if you do not stay for many nights in IC hotels but one of the benefits is automatic upgraded room.
The price of the ocean view room was high for Cozumel but not unreasonable for a 4 star property. But the upgrade to ocean suite gets you a breathtaking room -- very large bedroom area, adjoining large sitting area with large balcony overlooking the beach and a huge bathroom with double sinks, a large beautifully tiled shower and a huge tub that overlooks the ocean via giant windows. The bathroom alone is "worth the price of admission." (I think there are detailed descriptions and some photos on the hotel website showing the differences in the rooms.)
The staff is wonderful all around. The whirlpool and sauna area of the spa is a bit dark but the massage on the beach was heavenly. The restaurants are pretty good but the prices are resort like, especially when they add a "cover charge" that is never explained.
The snorkeling on the beach right out front is still as convenient as ever. But, I'm sad to say, the coral was damaged by the hurricane a couple of years ago and has not come back yet. Still, visibility was amazing and there are still plenty of fish, especially at the site of a sunken ship. one day, I saw a large manta ray -- VERY COOL!
My daughter enjoyed the kids club last time but felt too old to do it this time. She did enjoy the pool, the hammocks on the beach and the iguanas that are around the property. We rented a jeep and drove around to the windward side of the island -- highly recommended for beautiful and different views.

Overall, great experience at the Presidente. Good location on the Southern side of the island away from all of the tourists and cruise ships in the main part of town. It's only a $10 trip from the airport, which is about 15 minutes from the resort.

Excellent service throughout the whole hotel. Upon checkin the staff gives you a brief description of the hotel and it's ammenities and then escorts you to your room. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the ocean view rooms on the south end of the resort on the 2nd floor. The rooms on the main floor with direct access to the beach were about $80 per day more than our room but I wouldn't reccomend paying that. The beach has been remade since a hurricane 2 years ago. White sand with access to a reef right outside the hotel. Snorkeling is great and you don't have to leave the hotel. The 2 pools were also very nice and clean and there's always a waiter near by with a drink.

Room service was very prompt and the food was excellent. We highly recommend the chocolate cake. Food at both the Italian and Main restaurant at the hotel was very good too. I can't compliment the staff enough on their great service and friendliness. It really seems that the non all inclusive resorts really do have better service and it's well worth the tips.

Lastly, make sure that you're aware of the 2 for 1 happy hour each day from 5 to 7 at the main restaurant's bar. Also, check with the concierge for different options on deep sea fishing or diving. Most of the deep sea fishing half day options were $400-$500 for a half day, but they can generally find a smaller boat for around $200-$300 for a half day if they call around.

We'll definitely be back in the future

I stayed at the Pres. Czm for 9 nights at the end of March with my husband and two kids age 7 and 10. I am very picky about hotels and I loved this property. The grounds and palapa restaurant (the outdoor one) were immaculate. I did not go to the indoor Italian restaurant. The open air restaurant under the big palapa was so amazing right on the ocean with the ocean breezes and view, I would not have eaten inside if they had given it to me free. The food at the beach bar and the big palapa was amazing. All my favs: gazpacho, civiche, guac, fish, etc. Everything was great. We got an ocean view from a garden view room but still moved a few days later to a walk out beach front. It's the only way to go. We loved it. The bathroom was very big with an outdoor shower. We used the chici club and the nanny service and both were great. But most of the time we just let the kids roam free as the property is secluded and safe with many lifeguards. The beach is pristine and even with the hotel nearly full, the beach was never crowded. The morning restaurant service tended to be a bit slow, but it just didn't matter.
The beach bar drinks are fantastic and the bartender friendly.
Watch out for the drinks at happy hour, they are not less in alcohol just because they give you two of them.
We went diving with Scuba Du several times and it was a great experience. Snorkeling right AT the hotel I saw a HUGE green Moray Eel and a large Manta Ray. Not a lot of color but a lot of fish.
Just remember, this is Mexico, if you want five star America, STAY in America. But you would be making a big mistake. I will be back to this hotel !!!!!!!

The Hotel, The staff, the food and beverages plus the great service is just un belivable. Our family felt at home as we were pampmered daily. If you truly want to get away, feel secure and be treated like royalty this is the place.

Stayed at the hotel week before easter. 2nd time there. the hotel and staff are superb, and the rooms are nicely furnished and decorated. Have read complaints of pressure from salespeople but i do not find this to be true. Once again i cannot stress the courteous and freindly staff. i toured other hotels while on island and for my money Presidente is the best . Special thanks to Dee and Ani for all you're help
