This property is located on an uncrowded stretch of coast, a $5 cabride from the town of Cozumel. The sunsets are spectacular, and you can snorkel right off the beach in turquoise waters. The pool was gorgeous and both restaurants offered great food.

The staff was exceptional and did everything they could to make my stay enjoyable. I stayed in a Beach Front Superior room, which I heard from friends was much nicer than the pool view rooms which were fairly basic--not what you'd expect at an InterContinental. The Beach Front Superior rooms have both indoor, and outdoor rainhead showers within your own enclosed private back patio. They also have terraces/patios facing the pool/beach.

I appreciate the staff going the extra mile. When I couldn't get the wireless to work on my laptop, their onsite tech guy provided me with a wireless card and made sure that it was setup and ready to go.

If you like dolphins, check out the nearby Dolphin Cove where you can swim with the dolphins--what an amazing experience!

This is a beautiful relaxing resort, which offers the unspoiled Mexican coast with the service for which IC is known. Only negative is that my room cost $500-$600 per night, which seems pricey giving the amenities and location. I would love to come back here, but it seems expensive compared to what other 5-stars in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen cost, so do your comparison shopping for the best deal.

  • Liked — The sunset views and unspoiled locale
  • Disliked — Pricey rooms

First the pros: The layout of the hotel is very nice, rooms are nice, and the rooms are serviced exceptionally well. The dive shop (Scuba Du) is quite good also... the dive masters were professional and the shop well organized. It is also true that the snorkeling right behind and to both sides of the hotel property is very worth the swim. The hotel staff is friendly. The Italian restaurant Alfredos can be superb. I am told by a co-traveler that the messages were fantastic.

The cons: INCONSISTENT! Two great nights for dinner at Alfredos and then our last night we went back and it was horrible. Egg shells in the pasta sauce, two of us got our appetizers when three others were served entres, so us two had our entres while the others had coffee. Make sure you go when the boss is around. Same with the main restaurant... one day it is great, the next day far from it. The mixed drinks at the main restuarant's bar were consistent though - unfortunately they were consistently bad. If you want good mixed drinks, you'll have to go to Alfredos' bar - which is indoors and not open until 6pm. Or to town. And... the only hot tub (by the main pool) did not work a single day we were there. Finally, the substantial hidden room charges at check out are a sour way to end a trip.

The nice room and its view and the good dives made the trip a good experience overall. But we won't splurge that kind of money on this place again, much less buy into their "time share". They'll have to do better than that, especially for that kind of money.

  • Liked — Great rooms and view, good dive shop.
  • Disliked — Not worth the money paid.

We went to cozumel for 6 days in dec-07. With all the reviews I read I felt like I have already been there. So I thought I have a responsibility to add my comments and I hope they will help someone. The hotel was wonderful. We did horse back riding across the hotel and Raul the travel agent arranged it like he arranged it. It was nice 2-21/2 hour trip. 4 horses for 4 of us. My 7 yr old rode her own horse for the first time and by the end of the trip she was making the horse trot!! We went to the chankanaub bay and swam with the dolphins and snorkeled. We took our snorkelling equipment and snorkeled on the hotel property almost everyday since it was so convenient. We also went to Tulum. The breakfast buffet included in the room price was wonderful and the service overall was excellent. The alfredo italian restaurant is pricey with small portions but we ate there 2 times when we were tired to go into the town. I felt like the room service is cheaper and yummier and filling. The beach side restaurant had a full menu and we ate lunch on the beach mostly. We also took a tour around the island and Raul arranged that. He was great and worked with us even though we usually did not plan ahead. For example the dolphin swim was arranged in 1 hour time. A lot more to share but if anyone has more questions you can ask me.(especially if someone is going with kids.)

We stayed here in mid May 2007 with a few friends. The gated grounds are extremely well maintained and the staff is very friendly. The rooms were very clean and included an LCD TV and an alarm clock with an iPod dock. Wireless internet was also a convenience. The only issue we had with the rooms were the lack of divider between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. This caused quite a bit of puddling that required a makeshift damn made of towels.

The food was great at both the restaurant and the open-air bar. SCUBA, jetskis, snorkeling, and other water activities are all located on the property.

Although beautiful, the beach is mostly man made over coral. This makes walking on the sand a little strategic as there are small pieces of rock coral mixed in with the coral sand.

The Presidente Intercontinental in Cozumel is overall a well manicured resort with a friendly staff and many amenities. If I were to visit Cozumel again, I would certainly stay here again.

  • Liked — Well kept property, very friendly, helpful staff.
  • Disliked — The flooding shower.

We stayed at this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews - and we were so pleased with our experience. It is a simple, elegant property located on a lovely white sand beach. You really need to do nothing else besides walk ten steps outside your room and snorkel off of the beautiful beach all day. Put your red flag in the sand when you want food or drink, and a person will appear to take your order, then return with your cocktail a few minutes later. I have never had such a relaxing vacation. We rented a scooter and checked out many other spots on the island, and I can guarantee you that the best snorkeling is right off the beach of this hotel! Service was outstanding. Property was gorgeous. Furnishings were simple and elegant. We will return again and again.

  • Liked — Everything was perfect. They were practically mind readers.
  • Disliked — I can't think of a single thing.
