I've been eating at Prima for about 15 years now. It was first suggested to us by the concierge at Presidente Intercontinental -- I was on spring break with my mom, and we were looking for somewhere "safe" to eat in town. We ended up eating there three times on that short trip, it was so yummy!
First: everything here is fresh. They make their pasta fresh. They bake their bread fresh. This makes all the difference! I could fill up on the homemade bread alone! They have a wide variety of selections - from brick oven-fired pizzas, to traditional italian favorites, to contemporary dishes such as Lobster Mac and Cheese that take advantage of the region's amazing seafood.
The old location was more quaint, rooftop in the middle of downtown San Miguel. The new location is certainly an upgrade in quality of fit and finish, but it doesn't have the same charm it used to, and it seems like it gets much less random walk-in business way up on top of el Cantil condos.
One thing is for sure at Prima: they always want to make sure everything was great, at least in my experience. They aren't satisfied at you are simply "full," they want to know that you are satisfied! That is why I am still going back, 15 years later, with my own wife and kids!
