We got there on the the 23rd fo Jun (direct flight from Toronto). We are a family of 4 with 2 kids (7 and 12). The resort is impeccable and grounds are in pristine condition. The best part is definitely the beach, white sand and crystal clear water. We stayed 2 weeks and loved each day we spent there. We came face to face more than once with Baraccudas who seemed to have elected to live below the pier. Seveal Sting rays can be seen swimming within meters of the shore.
The staff is friendly and overall we did not have serious concerns, however we do want to highlight a couple of points which I hope the management team will address in the future.
1- Food was in my view below average at the buffet. For lunch, you either have access to the buffet (which typically has no more than 5 items on the menu + a salad or 2 and dessert made of fatty stuff - NO FRUITS - The other option is the grill where you could get a burger and access to a few fried things. DInner was typically better as they had theme nights and some added level of attention was obviously being provided.
Air Canada Vacation rates this resort as a 4 star facility, but in my view a 3 star rating would be more in line with what you get.
2- Entertainement was very average and somehow was less elaborate than what we experienced in previous stays at other resorts.

Other things to note:
Took a trip downtown, had a good time overall, did not buy anything except for a few souvenirs - Beware of the so called duty free shops where prices are actually higher than most mall prices.
Took the kids to the Chakanaab parc. Kids loved the dolphin activities however I feel that 139$ (US) + access fee (16$) is extremely expensive for spending 30 minutes in a group setting with a dolphin. It is not Forida!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Furthermore, all shops close at 5 PM, you can't even buy water after 5 even though it is 90 degrees. The management needs to review the way they manage the place. Oh yes, I almost forgot, you are not allowed to take pictures of your kids playing with the dolphins , but they will take pictures for you and sell them to you for 15$ a piece or a short DVD where your person of interest shows up for no more than 30 seconds for 30$.
Our Snorkling trip was absolutely fabulous, we booked via our Air Canada Agent (Francisco) and the 4 of us were extremely pleased with the outcome. During the trip, some idiot dropped a bottle of beer which shattered and a piece of glace lodged itsef into my wife foot. I would like to thank Francisco for taking care of the medical cost and getting the doctor on site to provide basic care as soon as we returned to the resort. During the snorling trip you get to see a variety of fish (colorful) but also stingrays, Baraccudas, See turtles, etc.
Overall, weather was great and we had a great time.

My wife and I booked this vacation as a second honeymoon. I don't advise anyone to do this as we have learned from this experience. The rooms were drastically smaller than they appear online. The landscaping was nice but there was a peculiar odor throughout the property. The water smelled of raw sewage and we felt unclean after showering. The service was pretty good as far as cleaning the rooms was concerned. The food was at best sub par, very liitle American fare except for hotdogs and burgers and pizza at the snack bars. There was free entertainment from the walls being so thin we could here the sexcapades of the couple next door everyday. After our second day we spent most of our time away from the Allegro with a couple we met from a different hotel which is where we will stay our next time to Cozumel. The Island was great and the locals were very nice and hospitable but the Allegro needs to make some improvements.

The Occidental Allegro Resort was great to all our family and friends. We had a very large group, and every night we were all able to sit everyone together for dinner. The kids were located in one area, and the adults sat in another, close to their children. Take in mind that our group had 37 people this year, and that the Allegro staff works very hard and always with a smile on their face.
Remember, these people work incredible hours, and make very little money. This is why we tip generously and take the time to share our lives and stories, even though it is not required. The management and
staff at the Allegro have become friends to all of us over the years.
Our room was always kept very clean and the food generally pleases all, even though it is hard to please everyone. If you require upscale dinning, we recommend their "Mexican & Italian" restaurants. But, remember to make reservations one (1) day in advance. There is a lot to choose from. Lastly, we are a family of divers, and we have a Dive Instructor that we trust explicitly. Her name is Alison. I am very protective over my children, family and friends. Alison is incredible. She is a native of Long Beach California. She taught all of our family to dive. She guides you underwater, teaches you about all the reef's, plant life, fish etc. My father and brother are master divers and could go with anyone or on their own, but they choose to be with Alison on every dive. It is a family tradition to dive together with her. Alison is the type of person that is constantly checking your equipment and observing everyone underwater,
making sure that everyone is safe and ok. To find out more about Alison and the dive services she has to offer, please follow the guidelines outlined on this website, after which we will happily respond to any question or inquiries you might have. Another recommendation in Cozumel which is a must, is Coconuts. They have the best grilled Shrimp, lots of garlic with lemons and lime. It is to die for. Don't forget the jumbo "Blue Margaritas," but stay safe. The Coconuts staff are a great group of guys as well. They all know us as the "California Mafia" as well. Have fun and remember these people are great. Sincerely, RaeAnn

the grounds were beautifully kept. the rooms left alot to be desired, they smelled musty and the beds were hard, but you won't be spending much time in your room anyway. the beach was beautiful and not crowded, plenty of chairs and they furnish your beach towels which you can exchange as many times as you like. the staff was wonderful and worked very, very hard. the only complaint i have about staff is the maid service, i tipped every day and still had to ask for towels and washcloths because none were left for us. No towel art for us even though we tipped and the maid left trash in the room. anything and ev erything you want to do is offered right at the resort. take at least one set of dress clothes because you must dress up in order to go the the restraunts to eat, men in dress shorts/slacks and a shirt with a collar, they prefer no sandals. The beach.....ah the beach, it was great, water so clear no matter how far you went out you could still see the bottom, fish swimming with you, you can snorkel right off the beach,,,stingrays, barracudas and alot of other fish. No seaweed and no waves except when boats went by. I t was so relaxing. The food was o.k., you must remember you are traveling to a different culture that cooks totally different. On a whole i would rate as a 3. sometimes you could smell a sewer smell and the rooms smelled musty.

We just came back from Cozumel and our stay at the Allegro Cozumel by Occidental was great. The room was clean, spacious, and the A/C worked perfectly. The food was delicious. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were filled with many options. The highlight of the food was definitely their Italian restaurant where Antonio (the captain) and Francisco (our waiter) were extremely pleasant and kept our glasses of wine from getting empty, especially mine! The pool area was beautiful, plenty of chairs, and kept very clean. The beach was gorgeous and if you want or need shade I'd suggest getting there before 10am. To those who like beer and would prefer not to walk up to serve yourself so often I'd suggest to bring a large plastic mug, trust me it'd be better.
As far as activities are concerned there was always something going on by the pool, so you will not get bored.
Don't forget to bring a bottle of Fabreze, singles for tipping, and a great attitude. You'll love this place!
