I want to start off by saying that ANYONE who wrote a bad review for this place is a CRY BABY!!!!!! The Allegro is hands down the best place I have EVER stayed at.

STAYED: June 2-9th

Here is a little review of the resort, enjoy!!!!

ROOMS:

Our room was 1421 - close to main lobby.

Very clean. Beds a little hard, but honestly feels like a futton so I slept like a baby every night.

If you're on the top floor be prepared if you are placed next to noisy people. The roof tops are not connected to the ceilings so you can hear your neighours if they're noisy.

Very roomy and cozy. Birght yellow walls with Mexican decor.

Ironing board & iron, coffee maker with coffee sugar etc, hair dryer, fresh bottles of water every day. NO clock :(

Every room has a hammock outside they're door, along with a table and 2 chairs.

FOOD:

Great selection. Every day there was a different dinner theme. Breakfast was the best - HUGE variety EVERY day.

Lunch, got kinda boring b/c we mainly stuck to burgers and fries.

A la Cartes: Mexican was great - wonderful selection and the ambiance was GREAT. Never did the Italian, sorry.

There is a Pizzaria by the lobby with a wonderful selection, and if there nothing on the menu you like they'll make you what you want :)

DRINKS:

Corona on tap. By the pool bar there is a self serve beer tap.

SO MUCH variety in the alcohol dept. I tried EVERYTHING :)

No worries about the ice, it is all made from purified water. So go ahead and get a Bahama Mama! Yummy!!!!

ENTERTAINMENT:

Every night was different. The entertainment staff is soooo friendly and they remember your face/name so you feel very at home.

Shows are varying. From dance to comedy shows. They're not bad. I recommend going :) The last night I was there they set up a stage and lights on the beach for a beach party. Very cool.

Every day around 1-2 they start up games around the main pool. They're funny - always making fun of the people at the swim up bar, a.k.a "alcoholics" :)

There is also 2 full size tennis courts, basket ball courts, shuffle booard and a huge chess board with huge chess pieces by the beach.

STAFF:

Now that I've been I can hardly believe that anyone has had something negative to say about the staff. They were all the friendliest, most hard working people I have ever met. Everyone, no matter what their position ALWAYS greated you with a smile and a "hola".

BEACH:

OMG!!!!!! Where do I even begin??? Incredible. The water is crystal clear and there are cute fish swimming all over the place, as well as a huge resident sting ray (no worries he'll leave you alone).

The sand is pure white and there are small sea shells all over.

There are plenty of beach chairs to lounge out on and there are quite a few (I don't know what they're called) grassy umbrella things (for shade). My BF and I always went down to the beach around 12pm and ALWAYS were able to find one :)

No topless bathers. Good thing for families. Bad thing for guys :) LOL!!!

POOLS & HOT TUB:

There are two very decent size pools. One is more for kids and the other has the swim up bar.

There is a huge hot tub over-looking the beach. WOW!!!!!!

If there is anything I forgot please feel free to email me. I have no problems answering your questions :)

Oh ya, if your woried about the weather forecast, DON'T!! I was so worried b4 going b/c every weather forecast said there would be rain and thunderstorms EVERY day. Guess how many times there was rain?????? NONE!!!!!! Yippie :)

We have vacationed in some of the most beatiful parts of the carribean and hawaii and i have to say that this was a wonderful area to vacation. After reading all the reviews i could on this property we didnt go with high expectations but we were hoping for a relaxing vacation. This was our first time to cozumel and to an all inclusive. With that said we were very pleased with the location and all that it offers. The rooms were smaller than we would have liked, but we werent in them long enough for it to matter. We would love to bring our kids and grandkids(currently making those plans) back to cozumel and i would even come back to this hotel, it was well worth the money. And as for bugs, that was a fear of mine, but i can tell you we only saw a few outside, but with humidity that is to be expected. We had a wonderful vacation and the beach was just perfect. And i am not sure about the other review of nudity, but absolutely this is a family resort and very family friendly. We never had to wait in line for anything.

This was our third time at Allegro and we have booked for 2007. This is not your 5 star resort, so leave your attitude at home. But if you want excellent service, friendly staff, good food, great beach and SCUBA diving that is the best in the world, this is the place.

The dive shop is one of the best run, best staffed and most professional I have experienced and it's right at the resort. And I have been diving since 1964.

Very laid back and restful. Beautiful grounds. They did a great job after the storms and have upgraded all the rooms and main building.

We go to the Allegro to relax, have fun, meet people and "DIVE" and it meets these requirements very well.

And as far as the ants go, who would have ever thought there would be ants in the "tropics"! Get over yourself !!!!!!!!!

Let me begin by saying that I have stayed at all different types of hotels in Yucatan. This rates at the bottom but let me explain the situation.

We stayed at the Allegro for Memorial Day Weekend. It was a bachelor party, therefore, cleanliness and leaky roofs were not a problem. The price was incredibly cheap we paid $525 each for 4 days and three nights including flight through Funjet. Therefore, we were not expecting much.

Rooms-It is true the roofs leak. The rooms are musty just like almost every hotel room in the area due to the high humidity. The bathrooms are clean but worn. The water has a sulpher smell to it which is difficult to deal with.

Drinks-The is the area that I most familiar with. The beer is tap Corona. It was a must to add limes which are plentiful at the pool bar. However, the beer at the "Pizza restaraunt" tasted the best. The lines must be newer and cleaner. All the bars do have some call liquors. (Cuervo, J&B Scotch, and Jim Beam)

Food-This was the most disappointing, but we only ate at the Pizza restaurant and the buffett. We did not care to sit down to a candle light dinner with all the couples honeymooning since this was a Bachelor Party of sorts. The food was low average. Absolutley Zero healthy alternatives.

Beach-Extremely nice and clean. Snorkeling not so great. Nobody trying to sell you silver trinkets or other items on the beach.

Dive Shop-Very professional and very safe. Great dive sites but that is a given when visiting anywhere in Cozumel.

Finally, the service was very good from the staff. But we always carried plenty of $1's and $5's to tip with. We consistently had waiters bringing drinks for us. Another thing I almost forgot...I did not encounter anyone trying to sell time shares this was first for me in the 10+ times I have traveled to Mexico.

Hope this helps.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this resort. The grounds were beautiful , picturesque and immaculetly kept. The staff was extremely friendly and very accomodating.

I was glad that we read the reviews before leaving and got the warning about the timeshare sales agent that represent them selves as helpful vacation specialist at the airport. Walk directly past them to the cab booth to pay for a van /car to take you to the hotel.

The resort offers many things to do and the activity staff are pros at entertaining( I highly reccomend the nighlty shows). We also enjoyed the amenities offered as a VIP member which afford you other perks, if available opt for this. The water activities are wonderful and anything you could want to do off the resort can be arranged thru the resort. I strongly suggest renting a jeep and strategically planning out a day... cabbing can get a bit expensive! You also have to go to see the virgin beaches at dusk the crashing of the waves on the rocks at sunset are absolutely breathtaking scenes!

The food was average, as were the drinks ( the daquiris suck) but both were filling plentiful and the variety of offerrings were nice.

The island is charming and quaint and access to the mainland is easy if you want to expand your trip to include excurssions to Playa del Carmen and Cancun. I would seriously suggest converting to pesos as it is the best way to get a bang for the buck. However cash is readily accepted.

If you plan on visiting the Mayan ruins know that you are in for a very hot and physically exerting journey. We went to one of the smaller ruin sites and were exhausted, but Xel Ha was a wonderful water park excursion!

The hotel rooms are modest but comfortable. There is a free open bar in the room, and they make bottle water readily available in the room. The only complaint is the mattress in the rooms are EXTREMELY HARD like Fred Flinstones Bedrock slab! However the staff, the grounds, the activities and the cute towel characters the houskeeping staff create daily make this resort one to visit..over and over and over again

P.S. if you stay in 5413 there is a huge Iguana that lives outside the door... we named him Chacho, tell him hello from us!
