My boyfriend and I celebrated our one year anniversary this past week. We both enjoyed everything! There is so much to eat and drink there. The staff does virtually everything for you, so there's plenty of relaxation. We rented a moped for the day at $35 so we drove to town for some shopping and also drove around the island for pictures. The water is warm and soo blue! I recommend the snorkel sunset package, the staff is excellent and the scenes are amazing. Take mosquito spray and plenty of suntan lotion. Iguanas took sometime to get used to, they roam the entire hotel but are harmless. The rooms are so cozy and each on has a hammock where my boyfriend enjoyed in the afternoon breeze. The shows in the evening are actually hilarious and entertaing, a must see!

my husband and i have just got back off our 2 week honeymoon on the 21st of September and i have to say i was the best holiday i've ever had. The hotel was amazing, our room was spacious, clean and air conditioned though i could't use my hair straightners as the sockets had low voltage.

We arrived there around tea time so the first thing we did was we went to the buffet restaurant which had plenty to choose from. That evening we were sat in the jaccuzi drinking cocktails and we even spotted a small tornado out to sea. The pools were cleaned every morning from 6am (can't you tell we were up early) and the pool bar waiters even brought you drinks while you were sun bathing (well worth tiping). every day the maid would make us something different out of the towels, we tiped her a doller a day. The diving was excellent i did the resort course which was 58 dollers for that i got a trial dive in the pool and a walk out dive to 14 ft, i love it so much that i then did a shallow boat dive to around 15 mtrs it was great i stroked a massive turtle, this dive was 68 dollers because i had to have in instructor (pablo) with me .

We went into san migal (town) a few times it costs about 15 dollers each way, there are plenty of shops with loads of bargains great for people who like to shop.

we hired a jeep for the day from across the road and went around the island where there are stalls and bars, we stopped at coconuts bar they had a few animals there, a parrot , a fat cat, two dogs, a rooster, some doves and a crocodile and if the ladies get their boobs out for a pic they get a free shot of taquila (i didn't though).

I would reccomend this hotel resort to anyone and i think we went at the best time out of season it was lovely and quiet.

Ive just returned from a two week stay at the allegro with my boyfriend after flying out on 6th of September from Manchester, UK. Before writing this review I had a quick look at what other people had said recently and the only thing I can think is they got the resort mixed up with another one!!! This place and the people who work there are incredible. You will be blown away by the lengths that the staff go to to impress their guests and they certainly impressed all the people I knew on my holiday!!

When we arrived at the hotel we were instantly blown away by its beauty. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition by mainds and groundsmen who work around the clock in unbearable to work in heat to impress their guests. Our room was stunning, decorated in bright colours, and definately large enough to live in comfortably for our stay. The maid brought in fresh water every day and cleaned around even cleaning up my things (as I am quite messy!!!) She also made adorable animals out of towels and decorated them with hand picked flowers! (see the effort that these people go to already!!!)

As for the food...it was amazing. They provided an excellent choice of food, both hot and cold at all times of the day. We ate in the buffet in the evening three times during our stay and thought the food was excellent. The rest of the holiday we ate in the a la carte restaurants (the mexican and the italian). The standard of these restaurants is extremely high. The waiters (especially santos, osman, felix and jorge(the manager)) go to extreme lengths to ensure that their guests are happy, and make the effort to talk to them and get to know them. These people made a huge impression on us and we were extremely sad to leave them. The quality of food again is way above the standard that you would expect even from an a la carte restaurant in the UK.

Every evening the entertainment staff put on a show and played games with their guests. The shows were superb, the staff are extremely good actors / dancers, and make their performances no matter how many people attend them!! (If you do visit the hotel make sure you go to them, they put in so much effort, you really dont want to miss them!!!) They also provide entertainment throughout the day with games in the pool and even bingo at the poolside! With the time of year that we went it was fairly quiet at the resort which made it especially good as we got to know the staff and have to say they are the friendliest people I have ever met (my personal favourites being carlos and rene), when we left they came to say goodbye and we were all nearly in tears including them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well without turning this into an essay I'd just like to say the people who have written poor reviews about this resort either got it mixed up with another one or stayed in their room the whole time, didnt speak to anyone and ate the iguanas fresh outside their room as they certainly didnt eat out!!! If you are thinking of booking this resort then I wouldnt hesitate at all! We are already looking at visiting again next year!!!!!!!!

This was my 6th trip th Cozumel (my Husband's 10th) so we know the island well. We usually stay at the Fiesta Americana, but thought the Occidental Allegro would be a nice change of pace. We were very wrong!

First, our room was not ready until well after 3pm (we arrived at noon) and we had upgraded our room to be closer to the beach. We were given a "deluxe suite" which had a a depressing view of the bungalow in front of us and the jungle behind it. It was NO different than the "regular" room that my brother-in-law was staying in. The rooms were TINY, had no view, and the beds were horribly uncomfortable. We were disappointed, but we made the best of it. We later learned that all of the ocean view rooms are booked for members, whoever they are.

Another aggrivation was an area at the front, just past the reception desk, which was sectioned off to corner guests into breakfast and a tour of the neighboring sister resort - a sneaky ploy to sell you into staying there on your next visit (we avoided having anything to do with that!) The grounds were nicely kept, but the food was barely edible, the drinks were weak, and the service was not worth mentioning.

After our friends left, we moved back to our home away from home, the Fiesta Americana. It's not the Ritz Carleton, but at least the large rooms all have oceanfront views, comfy beds, good food, and outstanding service.

Where do I begin?? I first noticed the Allegro in an Air Canada Vacations book and it looked really nice. We came here onto to Trip Advisor and the reviews were all over the place - some great, some not so great..... We decided to make up our own mind and we booked our trip.

We left Saturday August 19 travelling direct to Cozumel on Air Canada. The captain advised us it was 39 degrees when we arrived. We were the only plane at the Cozumel airport when we landed :) We were off the plane, through customs, had our bags, got the "green" light and were on the mini-van within 20 minutes. Another 20 minutes we were at the Allegro. 40 minutes from plane to resort - you gotta love that.

We had asked for adjoining rooms as we were bringing our 12 yr old son and 13 yr old daughter and adjoining rooms we got. We were room 1722 (upstairs with the thatched roof!!). Our room was perfect - the air conditioning was great and having a ceiling fan was perfect for sleeping at night when you wanted the air off.

We awoke the next morning and had breakfast - it was great - made to order omlettes, french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit etc. etc. Down to the beach we went. It was AWESOME. For t hose who are into snorkelling we took our own gear and snorkelled right off the beach. To the right of the Allegro is a pier (just off the property line). We snorkelled here every day and saw TONNES of FISH including the biggest barracuda we'd ever seen. Lots of box fishes, skates etc. It was wonderful. You can snorkel right underneath the pier and that were all the fish are. To the left of the Allegro is t heir very own pier (where the dive boats are). If you wait until after 5pm the snorkelling at this pier is very good too. You just need to wait until after all the dive boats have been taken back into the ocean past the buoy line. Apart from that we saw big schools of fish right between the 2 piers.

Meals - Breakfast like I said was awesome - lunch at the beach grill was also great. My son loved the hamburgers, my daughter loved the fresh guacamole and chips and my husband ate fish every day at lunch. They had fries, hot dogs, fish, pork, chicken, rice, etc. We had dinner at Italian and it was great - chicken ceasar salad for an appetizer, spaghetti for the adults and the kids had homemade pizza. Dinner at Mexican was just as good - we had fajitas while my husband had grouper. The dinner buffet was perfectly fine. Plenty to choose from. They have a theme each night ie: oriental, mexican, italian, caribbean, BBQ, etc.

Shows - Kudos to the staff at the Allegro - they work each day from 8am - 11pm. They look after the kids club, organize games ie: water polo and beach volleyball and make a great effort to meet everyone. They are also in every show. They dance there hearts out each night and do a fabulous job. Our favorite show was Riverdance and the Michael Jackson Thriller number, Bohemian Rapsody and the Rocky Horror Picture Show tribute. Excellent work Allegro staff.

The Resort - Beautifully maintained - they are constantly working - raking the beach, mowing the lawn, manicuring the palm trees etc. etc.

The Staff - What can I say....my daughter lost an orange coral necklace down the drain in her bathroom sink. We could see it at the bottom of the drain. I went down to the lobby area and spoke with the guy behind the desk. He had a maintenance man in our room within 5 minutes. This man then took apart the sink and drain and had my daughter's coral necklace back in her hands within 10 minutes. Unbelievable staff at this resort.

Our Maid - we had Prisila and each day we'd rush back to see our towel art on the bed - we had swans, elephants, iguanas, hearts and loads of fresh hibiscus flowers too.

We had the biggest iguana living underneath our building (17 block) - the kids named his Iggy and he'd eat fresh mango from the lady right below us. Too cool...

We did the 3 reef snorkelling trip with the Manta guys on the Fury Catameran - it was fun - we saw 2 nurse sharks, sea turtles and lots of gorgeous fish - the Palancar reef was awesome.

We rented a jeep from Executive (right across the street from the resort) and toured the island - we stopped at Playa Sur for photos and Coconuts for a drink and more photographs.

If you are up for a beach walk walk the beach to the right of the Allegro. It will take you past the pier and you will see in the distance a big Palapa looking hut (its 2 storey). This is Mr. Sanchos beach club. You pass it on the drive into the Allegro from the Airport. This is free - you just pay if you want a drink or food. The kids can swim and snorkel on their beach and best of all there are about 12-15 Vendors selling all kinds of t-shirts, jewellry etc. We got a gorgeous black coral seahorse necklace for my daughter for $13.00 american. It is so unique. They also have a lady who will braid your hair if you are looking for that - a lot cheaper than at the resort.

I can not pick a real fault with this resort at all - we came for a family vacation and loved every minute. We loved playing beach volleyball with the resort staff every day. This resort caters to families - if you are looking to be wined and dined this is not for you. This is great for teens and kids - really safe too. My kids had the run of the resort and we never had any worries.

I'd just love to thank the following people:

Natalie from Montana and Gabby - you danced your heart out every night in those shows and did a fabulous job (although you do need to work on your volleyball game Nat!!) Poncho - you went out of your way to make my daughter feel special and it was much appreciated. We did look for you to say goodbye on Saturday but we couldn't find you - We wish you all the best - you are a fantastic dancer and beach volleyball player - I hope our paths will cross again.

Please do not be influenced by negative reviews - try it out yourself - you'll be glad you did.

PS - Glad to have met you UKTony - :)
