This resort has a lot of good points:
The property and landscaping are beautiful, the pools and jaccuzi are very clean, and the beach spectacular. They maintain the public areas and the exterior of the buildings to a high standard. The staff are friendly and there are many activities to choose from. The evening entertainment is also very good, and they have a show each night, plus a disco.
And Bad points:
Some of the rooms need updating and repair - we had to switch rooms twice for various reasons. The food in the main restaurant was some of the worst we have ever had in any hotel we have ever stayed in, (and we travel at least four times each year)!!! so we know good food.
Some other guests who had stayed at other Allegro resorts also said the food was worse here than the other Allegro's.
The quality of the wines was very poor, they had very few premium liquors and the beer choices were limited.
To summaize:
If you go there, do not expect luxuriously appointed rooms or gourmet dining because you will get neither! If you are happy to put up with average drinks and poor food, but in a place that looks like paradise, you will have a great time. Vacation date, Feb 19-26, 2005.

My husband and I spent a week at the Allegro Cozumel in February and had a wonderful time. We didn't leave the property except to dive - and the diving w/Dive Palencar located right at the hotel was fabulous. The staff was friendly, the food and drinks were bountiful and good, and we enjoyed the beach volleyball, pool hijinks, and nightly staff shows.

my family and i stayed at the allegro over the december break and we LOVED IT! the weather was amazing. it's my favorite vacation ever, it even beats hawaii. it's amazing. the people there are great and very helpful. the rooms and the food could be better, but it wasnt the worst thing in the world. i would go back in a heart beat. the pool was great, the beach was great, the nightlife was great. everything was wonderful. hopefully i'm able to go back there again one day!!!

My husband and myself along with another couple went to this resort on the 12th to 19th of February and were really impressed once we got to a rennovated room!!!! The first night we did not get there until about 9 pm and asked for a rennovated room (which we requested at booking) and did not get one. We were told that they were all booked but 20 minutes later someone else slipped them a 20 and got one. (they are not allowed to do this as we found out the next day). Well we went to our room and it was terrible!!!!!! Hard to say the last time it was cleaned and smelled of sewage. We complained and a maid came right away to clean. The next day we spoke to our rep and got a renovated room on the next day. It was beautiful and the maid service was exceptional!!!!!!!!
The food was the best we have ever had at a resort and I am a very fussy and picky person when it comes to eating food. If it doesn't look or smell right I will not eat it. I found something every day. The a la carte was not the greatest the best was the Mexican. Not a lot of flies aroung the snack bar some but that is to be expected. The drinks were spectacular try a Miami Vice or a banana mama!!!!!
Took bug spray and did not use it the oly time we even say misquitos was right after a rain(which it did one night and for about 1/2 hour one morning).
Pools were on the cool side but the hot tub was great a bunch of us met there every night!!
We went on 2 great day trips that we booked through Poncho( Air canada rep) on was the Snorkle and Sunset cruise on Catamaran. None of the 4 of us have ever snorkled and 2 of them could not even swim and we all had a great time!!!!! A crew member went with each of the nonswimmers for the whole time in the water. They went above and beyond to be helpfula nd entertaining. The trip back was great and the crew are so funny and great. If you take this trip you will see what I mean. The other was a Jungle Adventure Jeep Tour with Ginger she is a great tour guide and drives like I don't know what!!! We had a wonderful time and would do it again!!!!
