I was at first hesitant about booking at the Allegro by some of the reviews I had read on the internet but after going I have to ask....where did you people stay? It was great. I am going to write this review in all fairness so other will have a clear and true idea of what this location offers. Let's start with the rooms.....they were nice (bungalow style) with seperate air conditioning units in each room. The rooms were very clean and tidy and we never had a problem getting anything we needed. We always had fresh towels, wash cloths, soap, shampoo, and bottled water. The only thing to know is if you plan on sleeping late put your do not disturb sign up because the cleaning staff starts early. The only time we spent in our room was to shower and sleep so there is not much I can write on here.....if you complain about your room you were probably in it too much...you are in Cozumel....what are you doing in your room. The food was very good.....breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ate at the main resteraunt every day for breakfast and dinner and always found something to eat. My wife and I are both picky eaters but we never went hungry. If you like fried foods hit the buffet by the pool at lunch...they have hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, etc.....very good. The drinks were great and there were always glasses available. The grounds were very clean, trimmed, and well kept. It was a very pretty resort. We looked at several others after arriving and talked to many people from other resorts and it sounded like the Allegro is the place to stay. The beach is fantastic with plenty of room and the pools are great. The only tip I can give here is if you want a cabana to sit under get up early and reserve them with your towels. The thing I was most impressed with was the staff. They were all great and they all spoke English well. They were very attentive and always willing to help. The Activity staff was "Great and First Class"......they were always doing something with the guests and they were excellent with children. They put on shows everynight that werer great! I can not say enough about the staff.....TOP RATE!Here are a few tips.......if you want to go shopping depending on what you are looking for do not go to the Cozumel Market Place. It stinks......the shops with not barter because they receive plenty of business from the cruise ships during the day. The shop owners are actually rude. The best deals we found were when we were leaving. The airport has several nice shops with almost any souvenier you could want at the same or lower prices than in town. We did rent a car to go into town.....here are the prices....$35 for a mopad......$45 for a VW Bug (old one)......$55 for a Geo Tracker.......$65 for a Jeep.......but you will realize that was a waste of money to get into town once you go to the shops. Save your money and simply buy your souveniers at the Airport unless you are looking for something specific.Make sure while you are there go by the dive shop and book a dive tour with Dive Palancar. My wife and I went snorkling and it was well worth it. It cost $45 each for a 4 hour snorkling tour. We got some great pictures and had a wonderful time. It was probably the highlight of the trip. Food and drinks were supplied on the tour and the people running it were knowlegeable and very nice.
