We were on a road trip with two other couples, went to Merida, Progresso several small towns and spent our last night at the Hotel Dolores Alba Chichen. We had a great time! after many days in the car and walking many miles seeing the sights we all sat around the pool had some beers talked about the many wonderful places we had visited. The staff was attentive but low key. We ate dinner there, the rooms were very clean with A/C, nice grounds to walk, for a very reasonably priced hotel you can not beat it. I'd go back to just spend a couple days there to relax.

We stayed here for two nights and found it to be just right for our needs. This is the only reasonbly priced hotel close to Chichen Itza. The room was clean. The bathroom, while not the Hyatt quality, was functional and clean with plenty of hot water. The pools and hammocks in the hotel grounds kept our 5 yr old daughter happily entertained after a long day of walking in the hot sun.

I have stated at this hotel way back in 2000 and again last month. It has not lost any of it's charm. It is exactly where you should stay when exploring Mexico. They offer a good restaurant, some nice pools and just a great jungle experience. Plus on top of that, they are right across the street from one of the most amazing cenotes in Mexico.

The staff are all helpful, free wifi, a hammock room and just an overall great experience.

This has everything you need in a hotel. Very clean pleasant rooms. Easy access to the archaeological zone and a cenote across the road. Two pools and a nice restaurant with a well cooked and delicious although limited menu. I stayed here after Christmas with my son and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. If you have a car, I would strongly recommend staying a little longer and visiting the site of Ek Balam. Recent excavations have exposed some amazing sculpture but go prepared to climb.

I stayed here in 2002 and this past New Year's eve, and nothing has changed. This is a simple hotel, though it looks more like a motel with its side-by-side units. The hotel is located only 2 or 3 km from Chichen Itza and they offer free transportation to (but not back from) the site. The two double beds are not meant for large people. There is an old 19" (approx) TV mounted ceiling-height that has at least 2 English movie channels, but no CNN. The bathroom is functional and comes with 2 small towels, a bar of soap and TP, but no shampoo. There is a shower curtain and excellent hot water, though the faucet needs replacement. Each unit has a small patio with two plastic chairs and a side table - request a room with a view of the cenote pool.

There is a lovely cenote pool with lounge chairs at one end of the property and a small regular pool in front of the restaurant. The restaurant makes excellent margaritas and pina coladas (the latter made with fresh pineapple) and sell for the ridiculously low price of 45 pesos ($3.60). The dinner menu is limited but the dish we had was flavourful. We had the "chicken" itza (chicken in an achiote sauce) which comes with rice, mashed potatoes, sliced tomatoes, raw carrots, cucumber, and ½ of a sliced pickled beet. While this is no gourmet restaurant, it is most pleasant sitting poolside, having drinks and dinner. The complimentary breakfast consists of tea or instant coffee, a fresh fruit plate, scrambled eggs mixed with sliced deli ham, and bread with packaged jam. The restaurant is open from 7am until 10pm. There is no smoking in the hotel. While right on the old highway, the traffic noise stops before 10pm, though begins again around 6am. When possible they allow early check-in (we checked in at 1030am) and late check-out until 1pm (so you can shower and change after visiting Chichen Itza. If you return from the site later in the afternoon they allow you to use their washrooms to freshen up. Given the hotel's proximity to Chichen Itza, the price ($57 tax incl), and the rural setting, this place can't be beat. And unlike some of the other hotels and buildings in Piste, this place did NOT use any of the carved stone blocks from Chichen Itza in its construction.

Room Tip: request a room with a view of the cenote pool if driving from Playa del Carmen, take the old road...

I booked this hotel for one night on Dec 21, 2012. I did not stay the night. Lots of reasons why I did not stay.
1. Poor/slow service at check-in
2. Checked in at 4 p.m. and was told that all the shuttles to Chichen Itza were complete for the day, we would need to drive or take taxi.
3. When we returned from visiting Chichen Itza, we went to the restaurant for something to eat, the server would not allow any substitutions from the menu, regardless that it was 8:00 p.m. I still had to drink coffee or tea because that is what the menu said. We left the restaurant without ordering. Also, the menu is very limited.
4. We then went to the room and found numerous ants crawling all over the room, on the beds, on the wall, floor, everywhere (room 34). That was the kicker, we went to the front desk and told the fellow we were leaving, got in our car and headed for Playa del Carmen.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.
