I emailed the restaurant off of their website and made advance reservations. When they sat us, we were at a table immediately facing the water. It was fantastic! Make sure to make reservations and get a table on the patio, right near the water. Use bug spray before going to prevent mosquito bites!
This was our best meal in Cancun. The restaurant was VERY busy all night long. The wine list was very extensive. We shared a shrimp appetizer that was amazing. Our steaks were fantastic, very tender, flavorful, and delicious. The dessert (chocolate souffle) was to die for. The meal was very well timed. There were 2 waiters for our table. We were never in need of anything, as the wait staff was outstanding. Even the dipping sauces that came with the bread was amazing. Looking out over the water, sipping wine, and eating delicious steaks=heaven!

We I saw the menu for Kobe Beef cost only 930 Peso,
I thought it was a very good deal.
When I cut the meat, I know something is wrong.
It was just a higher grade beef.
Yes, the beef was good but not worth the price it charged.

My wife ordered tuna fish which was good.

Din't want to spoil our dinner, we orderd a dessert Crepe suzette with Ice Cream
which cost 160 peso for 2.
It was very good and we highly recommend this.

Puerto Madero is an Argentinia steak house, but not the kind where the guachos walk around with skewers of meat. This is more upscale with a large menu of large steaks of every cut you can imagine. I had a half order of the fillet and it was truly one of the best steaks I have ever had. They also a souffle potato which you should try - kind of a cross between a french fry and a potato chip - very delicious! They have a wonderful selection of wines - we tried a wine from Argentina which was excellent with the steak. They serve Mayan flaming coffee here with whipped cream (most of the other restaurants served it with ice cream) so it wasn't as good in my opinion, but still fun to do. Atmosphere is nice, rich, dark and almost cozy even though the place is quite large. We ate inside, but they have nice outdoor seating overlooking the lagoon as well. A very nice experience - it is a bit pricey, but well worth the splurge (and I would guess it is cheaper than Harry's or Ruth's Chris and I was told it was better steak).

My husband and I stayed at Le Meridian in Cancun and were looking for a good steak house within walking distance and Puerto Madero was recommended. It was a great experience all the way around. Sitting in our table with a great view of the bay we had a wonderful meal - can't complain about any of it - and our server (I believe it was Francisco) was without a doubt one of the best servers we have ever had. We will be returning there on our next trip to Cancun.

This is our third visit to Puerto Madero. The first, two years ago was spectacular, and last year's was in the same league, with wonderfully tender and flavorful steaks, and friendly, professional service. This last visit was disappointing. One steak was underdone, and another (a NY Strip) had lots of gristle and fat -- enough that nearly 30% of the steak was inedible. This place has been a favorite of ours in the past. I hope this was an exception to the rule and it will return to form next time.
