In April this will be our 4th trip to the Royal Hotels(once at Playa de Carmen) We love the Royal in Cancun the best. The staff is will ALWAYS go out of their way to take care of anything you need. Last year I needed to get special flowers & dinner reservations and Christian took care of EVERYTHING and also followed up to make sure everything went well.. All the bartenders at the Lobby Bar are the best, especially Daney, Uriel, Nacho,Cupul,Antonio and their helpers, the drinks are perpared wonderfully and no matter how busy the bar is, you barely wait for anthing!! The cocktail waitresses are amazing as they work at the bar at night and poolside during the day especially Guadaloupe, Miriam, Ann, Carolina & Ligia/ Our favorite waiters are Gerardo, Miguel, Antonio, David, Ruiz & Juan. The food is fantastic and delicious and we've never had a bad meal in 4 years!!!Avelino the Check-in Captain handled our arrival quickly and smoothly and it was one of the fastest check-ins we've EVER had anywhere. We'll be back on Apriul 28th and we really hope all our friends will still be working there as I've learned that sometimes they move staff to different properties. Last year we missed Omar, Benjamin, Ievgueny, Felicia and Jessica.All they want to do is please you in any way that they can. They don't have to actively sell timeshares as they do in Dominican Republic, the good service sells the hotel for them. PLEASE don't change!!!

My husband and I were on out honey moon in September 2012. Worn out from exhausting trip to get there we were were told we HAD to talk to this lady in the lobby only trying to sell us to book next year's trip to come back. All we wanted to do is eat and sleep!! Come on people!!! Then we had food poisoning both of us from a restaurant in there hotel that lasted 3 days for the rest of our trip. We spent 5,000.00 on this trip and we never got any compensation from the hotel or even I am sorry. We had a romantic dinner scheduled for on the beach that we had to call 5 times just to cancel because of the food poisoning was so bad then only to be charged for this dinner when we were trying to depart from the hotel. Once again no apologies and we had to wait an a long time for the desk women to take care of this situation. Very disappointed. Wr were on or honey moon and never even got to celebrate or marriage. So disappointed in hotel for not offering us something for what we went threw. I'm just now getting to write this because I'm still really upset and needed to calm myself. I would think twice before coming here. It's not all that great and they only care about your money!!

I came 5 times since they opened in 2006 but this last trip was a horrible experience the service was not there staff didn't care the hotel it self is being cheap cut down and don't care even that I complained no one did anything 2 change anything so I'm sure ill never come back

Stayed for honeymoon Jan 2013 perfect weather late 20s most days..

Check In - went very smooth and quickly, greeted with champagne and cold towel. We were asked to complete the form for pillows and scent for turn down service. There was no sales pitch for the time share or to upgrade. We booked through Thomas cook and the rooms are 2nd and 3rd floor. We were given 2nd floor room. I enquired about an upgrade and were given 614 with an amazing view and king bed for $10 per night. Thy also booked our couples massage and reserved us tables at the restaurants.

The rooms were fantastic, clean all ocean facing! DVD and iPod Bose system were great. Spacious dressing area and double showers. Double jacuzzi - couldn't ask fir more.

Beach/Pool - amazing, didn't spend a lot of time on the beach as prefer the pool. Pool was fantastic. The towel game is played we noticed this as due to the time difference were up at 4am and not long after seen people reserving spots. We never found this to be an issue as we were sunbathing from when the sun was up 7:30 am and still had plenty of choice. The pool is heated and perfect temperature to swim at anytime of day. The activity side plays lovely relaxing music until 10am when the more upbeat tunes started and there are activities such as volley ball and water aerobics.
There were still beds available later in the day just but less choice if you have a preference where you would like to sit. There are a lot of people who reserve boty cabana and beds at the same time reducing the numbers of available beds.
Pool butlers work very hard - Guadelupe and frank were fantastic, but they all deserve a mention if I knew all there names. Never without a drink and deserve tips!

Food/Drink - a wide choice of drinks, loved the daiquiris and mimosas!! They are quite weak but just ask and they'll make them stronger.
Asianas - favourite restaurant by far, food very tasty and amazing service. Ask for Omar, will really make you smile. Beef terryaki, pork curry noodles and Thai lamb all highly recommended!! They always bring spring rolls as an appetiser whether ordered or not. Show cooking was good but preferred the choice of the main menu. Reservations not needed for main menu and also open for lunch!!
Spice - ate mainly for breakfast and lunch. Buffet style with show cooking. Best buffet restaurant ever tried. Soups delicious and always a good choice. Pasta made fresh with your preferred sauce and they add extra garlic spices etc depending on your taste.
Pelicanos - amazing view of pool and beach again great service and food. Can't fault it!
Maria Marie - reservation only. Only visited the restaurant once due to the menu being made up of mainly fish and I don't eat this. I had the new York steak with bernaise sauce. It was delicious.
Never tried the tapas as never heard many great reviews..
Room service - fantastic coming in after a night at Coco bongos and ordering a steak, great choice very quick to your room and warm. Always used the magic box in the room. Loved this!!

Location is the best in the hotel zone. Right in the middle of the night life and the shopping centre. From walking along the hotel zone I did not see a better location/hotel.

Cleaning and turn down we're always on time and they left the room immaculate.
