there are a few positives:
The food is actually very good for all inclusive.
The beach is beautiful
Some of the staff are great (Miguel in the beach house was one, another woman in there didn't catch her name, but very friendly and prompt)
Easy to make reservations for dinner
The restaurants and bathrooms are close and easily accessible.
I expected more of a party vibe, luckily it was pretty calm at night
But there are mostly negatives:
Our privacy was violated, the front desk gave access to our room to another set of guests who walked in on us changing right after they checked in. When I complained to the manager "Ill see what we can do to compensate you" turned out to be a bottle of champagne a day later. Privacy violated, our concerns were basically ignored.
No balconies in the regular rooms. Only 20 or so on the end of the resort had exterior space.
We paid to "upgrade to a luxury oceanfront". I would hate to see what the standard room was since ours was very plain, and just in the middle of the resort.
The rooms are very basic, kind of dingy. Ipod dock was useless. The outside was visually falling apart (exposed rebar on east side of building) The interior hallways are very loud. Any time anyone closes their room door sounds like they're slamming it. Rooms are loud in general as you can hear everything next door.
Our $300 resort credit promotion was not honored
Have to sign for everything, doesnt seem like it be a big deal but people actually run you down to make you sign, you have to wait, and almost seems like they expect an additional tip when tipping is supposed to be included in your price.
Awful techno music thumping just about everywhere outside, sometimes also in the restaurants.
Pool was cold, really too cold to enjoy.
Requested an umbrella on the beach numerous times. Every time were told they were out, then someone 3 or 4 people away from us would magically get an umbrella.
The infinity pool is only for special people
The rest of the staff is unobservant. You will sit down for your reservation, then wait 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge you. Asked a couple different staff members very easy questions and got a lot of "i dont know" or "no english". Service on the beach from Daniel was terrible, he favors anyone who flashes a big tip, forgets the rest.
To sum up, stay somewhere else. This wasnt our first choice when we booked but was available, which should have been a clue.
