My wife and I had a fantastic time at the Great Parnassus.

We arrived at noon and were prepared to wait and chill out around the hotel until check-in, however were delighted to find that not only was our room ready immediately but had been upgraded for free to an ocean front suite. The suite was very nice, not the Hilton, but a nice, clean, hotel room. The hotel was WAY below capacity, we were told they were only using the first 6 floors of the 12 floors available and the 6 floors were not even close to full. This, I believe, added to the resort since we were known by all the bar-tenders and entertainment staff after being there for only a few hours. We did tip, as we had read prior to leaving that this was standard at this hotel, perhaps that is why they remembered us and took care of us but they generally seemed to enjoy what they were doing which makes your experience better.

The food was very good, we tried most of the restaurants at the resort and did not have a bad meal. We were also thrilled with room-service at 1am, how great is 24 hour room service included in your package...not sure I can ever not have that again now. The other thing that we enjoyed tremendously was that there was no buffet, all the restaurants were a la carte which was very nice.

The pools were very nice, the three-tiered infinity pool was gorgeous...only complaint was that it was a tad chilly. The swim-up bar pool was fantastic, the bar-tender, Cesar, there was the best in the resort in my opinion, he definately took care of us and the entire group of people with us. They do only serve dos equis beer, which was a drag, but I usually only drink tropical drinks in the Caribbean anyway so wasn't that big of a deal.

The beach, well it wasn't great that's for sure. Definately the absolute worst part of the resort. It was rocky, the ocean was rough, and it generally was a place we only went for a few minutes each day just to dip our toes in the water with a cold drink in our hand. We tried to walk down to the Hilton's beach, but it was far, their beach wasn't rocky but still rough ocean lots of erosion. I don't believe we saw anyone on any of the beaches for more than a few minutes.

This resort is not a 5-star and is a great moderately priced hotel in Cancun, if you know that going in and know what to expect you will have a fantastic trip. When we return to Cancun we believe we will be staying at this resort again.

My wife and two sons (ages 9 and 5) had a great time at the Great Parnassus. The boys (esp 5 year old) loved the Kids Club. Angie and Melva were fantastic!! They weren't just babysitters, but had several structured activities and really seemed to care about making sure the kids were having fun. The kids club waterpark was great too. We thought the overall hotel was well maintained and very clean. The room was much better than I expected. We had a family room and the setup was perfect for those with kids. The swimming pools were clean and extremely attractive. It is well documented that the beach here is rocky. We couldn't swim in the ocean anyway - as red flag conditions existed each day we were there. The food was OK - not bad for an all inclusive. The French Restaurant was closed the entire time. The Magnus buffett was only open for breakfast for a few days - but the food there was good. The kids loved the club sandwich at the Manhattan. Big Ben and the Japanese restaurants were solid options for dinner. I will say the best thing at all the restaurants is the fresh and delicious fruits and veggies. The only bad food we had was a cold appetizer plate (Portifino's I think). The servers at the restaurants were excellent!! Overall, I think the service was excellent, from the front desk to housekeeping. Everyone there seemed very interested in making our stay an enjoyable one. If you make it to the sport's bar - give a shout out to Manuel!! He makes the best drinks around. For the price we paid, I would definately recommend this hotel - especially if you are traveling with kids.

We had an all inclusive package. The food quality was awful, poor choice of meals, though the hotel had at least 3 or 4 open restaurants at the same time. The pool area was spacious, not crowded and clean. Our room was quite ok too.

This resort was awesome! The resort staff are all so willing to give you what ever you need 24 hrs a day. The pools and beach area are so nice. The sand is so soft and clean and the pools are 3 different levels. They have plenty of loungers/chairs to go around for all of the guests. The bartenders and waitress' were very attentive to our wants and needs. We plan on going back again!

If you value you or your families health stay away from this Hotel. My wife and I arrived on Oct 4th 2009 within 3 days my wife took ill respiratory problems with a cough, the next day I came down with the same symptoms. I know could have been catching a cold, but went I talked to other guests whom I never meet before on other floors complaining of similar symptoms, so I began to put my 19 year Firefighter background to use. I though well it might be the food but other than half the hotel restaurants being closed and honestly the food was Ok, moved my investigation elsewhere. The next day it came to me MOLD so I looked in the air-duct system and their it was Black spores mold the nasty stuff. I tried to approach hotel management about this issue only, to wait in their lobby for the manager on duty to speak with myself which he never came. So I did the next best thing I took pictures of the MOLD that was in my room in the restroom by the sports bar," and it's really not a sports bar just FYI".When we got home my wife and I both had to seek medical attention for respiratory problems which lasted 2 weeks. I wrote the hotel only to get a lame response that this happens in the Caribbean and they will take my matters serious and thanking me for my concerns. So if you want a nice Cancun vacation stay somewhere else don't endanger you or your children.
