“Great Family Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

This was our third vacaton to the GP and each time I leave I say I am going to write a review and never do. Well, this year the hotel/team amazed me again. I am one of those travelers that look for things to nit pick and I can say the GP passed. We travel with our 2 sons 3 and 5 and the staff were great with them. I would like to point our the Pool entertainment staff they really made our trip this year. Eventhou my son was to short to play water polo Carlos had him wear his life jacket and helped him play. Angel, when ever we walked by he always remembered my son's names and gave them high-fives. Jorge, played beach football with my sons and took the time to help them. I feel horrible there was another man with the pool entertainment staff that was great however I do not remember his name, In all the pool entertainment staff really made our vacation. The whole family loves to be outside all day and with the help of the pool entertainment staff the kids had an amazing vacation...which is what our vacation is all about.

As far as all the post in regards to the food, this is my third time visiting and the food was great each time.

I traveled here March 2012 with my 3 & 5 year olds, best friend and her 3 year old. We stayed in a family room. The first room we were in had a ventilation odor from the bathroom. I had had some concerns after reading other reviewes. After an attempt to fix it failed, we were moved to another room of our choice.

I am a seasoned world traveler and chose to do a girl and kid trip w/o spouses so did not want to spend a fortune. This was not a 5 star resort, but was clean, friendly and safe. My thoughts on the following:

Food: good, went to Italian, Japanese (twice), Manhattan restaurants, utilized Bora Bora (great pico de gallo/chips). Magnus each day for breakfast & lunch w/ good variety even for this health conscious vegetarian. Room service for kids late snack and breakfast was good and fairly quick, can get bottled water. Creperie was great for snack and had 24hr coffee machine.

Service: The staff could not have been more accommodating to us; friendly, helpful, interactive w/ children.

Gym: only 3 treadmills, many bikes, maybe 6 elipticals, there are also weights. Less busy mid afternoon.

Kid center: 5 year old LOVED this. I evaluated it before leaving him and spoke with other parents. There is a schedule of events. I did purposely chose to have him do only things w/o water in the activity area (kickball, dodgeball, craft) but would have felt comfortable with him in that pool that was only waist deep on him. My 3 year old went for 20 minutes so I could go buy a t-shirt and did not really enjoy, I think he would have been fine if he could have been w/ older brother.

Kid pool: good for younger kids, 5 year old got bored.

General pool: Kids loved the swim up bar. The infinity pool has large area that younger kids can stand and is probably about 8-10 inches deep for the length of the pool and about 6 foot wide.

Mini golf: We went 3x/day. Not really high end but my kids could care less. You can borrow beach toys and inflatable rafts here as well.

Beach: water was a bit choppy, kids still had a great time playing in water and sand, found a shark tooth. No problem getting a chair.

WATER ON RESORT IS FILTERED WE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH WATER OR ICE, NO ONE GOT SICK.

Overall we had a great time. This resort is exactly what I would expect for the price. It is not the high end that you might get at a 5 star, but is not the price of 5 star resort.

This is a family resort. Any hotel sponsored event was filled with small children. No adult ONLY activities BUT the beach alone was worth it. Beach was perfect. But the hotel employees responsible for serving beach bathing guest with drink was very very very slow and non existent. Bring a big big cup with lid to avoid having to hunt for a server. Noe at Olympia was great. Definitely do the Pirate Cruise with your loved one. Lobster and steak was excellent. Thumbs up.
Dont let the hotel salespeople talk u into listening to there spill about buying a condo, etc.. A waste of your time. They are crooks. Avoid them like cancer. Other than that, all was good. Beach was excellent... S and B, Ark

Room Tip: Ask for extra towels. Also, maids will come into your room whether you like it or not. Do not Dist...

Family of 4 went for Spring Break. We paid in total U$1800 for 3 nights and round trip flights on AA. So we were not expecting luxury. We did not get luxury, but a solid family-oriented vacation for the price peanuts. The family room given to us (128) was very spacious and clean, with a huge balcony. However we could hear the buffet employees at 4:30 in the morning preparing the place. Next morning we asked for a change of room and were given (after some aggravation) room 427, which was perfect; we slept in silence, except for the waves crashing, which we did on purpose by leaving our doors opened.
Service in general was attentive and food in all restaurants was better than cruise food. Many natural ingredients. The only disappointment was the Mexican restaurant, whose management cannot decide for being authentic or not.
The beach was great, rough seas, but that is what we like. People in the many swimming pools seemed to be having a good time and we did not overhear anybody complaining, but saw many return visitors. My daughters did not want to leave the water slides. All in all, we would repeat for the same price.

Room Tip: Odd size is quieter

First off let's start with the positives-
Kid's club- staff was amazing, watersides were great for kids, kids love Bethany, Laura and Ursula!, late hours at kid's club that takes kids to dinner was the bonus and the kids loved it
Accommodations/Hotel- rooms were cleaned daily and in decent condition, beds were decent, pool was clean, plenty of lounge chairs, beautiful clean beach, city bus is right out front
Service- bartenders were friendly and fairly quick
Food- the adult restaurant le Michele was fantastic, Magnus buffet had many choices for all different types of food, outside snack bar was great for both adults and kids, kids loved the donuts and ice cream, sandwiches poolside were fantastic!
Entertainment staff- great and shows were fun for families, many activities for kids to participate in all day long

Now to comment on the negatives-
Food- Japanese restaurant was horrible- both food and service was terrible, Manhattan was horrible- kid's even sent back their food, food and service in both Big Ben and Portofino restaurants were inconsistent as first visit was fantastic, second was not very good, food came out cold and not what was ordered often, one night a half eaten empanada was in my salad, it was disgusting I told the manager and he shrugged his shoulders.....no guacamole (isn't this MEXICO?) except for the hidden mexican restaurant near the watersides
Service- one waitress on beach leads to often not getting your drinks and often came wrong
Accommodations- no mini bar, took over 45 minutes to get bottled water which you can only get from room service, watersides far and kid's club hidden from view/far from the pool area, lights in bathroom flickered on and off, telephone didn't always work, slippery at bottom of the bridge between pools, many mornings no clean cups at buffet, access between two waterparks is confusing up and down stairs

Room Tip: Family Suite has 3 bunks and one king bed for families of 5. Noisy at times due to construction at...

Our family just got back from our 3rd trip to GP...we have 3 kids ages 5, 12 and 14. The activities and friends (from repeaters like us) kept the kids happy and busy. The staff is great and always friendly. Many staff are still there for the 3 years of our trip. Sometimes folks say GP is noisy at night and I agree. We stay on the first floor near the front and felt this room was noisier than our past two stays. Previously we were near the front on the 4th and 5th floors. With clean rooms, good food, great weather , great staff and cold beer, the noise is not a big deal.
Thanks to Sally at Vacationkids for all of her help to plan our trip.

Room Tip: rooms are quieter near lobby of hotel
