“Great Trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

We were here for a wedding, and the location could not have been more perfect.

The hotel staff was amazing. Basically anything you want they will bring to you. We had an ocean view room (room 3041). It was slightly larger than some of the ocean view rooms and far away from the elevators, so I definitely recommend it.

Some tips:
As other reviews mentioned, you have to get down to the pool by 7:30am. (SERIOUSLY!!) Everyone grabs a towel and lays it on their chairs to save their seat, and then goes and eats breakfast. (So no one is actually out at the pool, they just claim a chair or two.)

Try the shrimp tacos on the beach. They are amazing.

Also, you have to ask for top shelf alcohol, but do no one gives you any problems. Just ask.

We weren't sure how much to tip when we were there, but if you just bring money with you because the ATM has a surcharge. (We usually tipped $1-$5 for drinks/room service and everyone chipped in for tip at dinners.)

They have a "My Wish" button on the phone in your room. Anything you may have forgotten (toothpaste), they can bring up for you.

The food was (surprisingly) very very good. I took advantage of the morning smoothie bar and omelet man probably too frequently.

I probably enjoyed MB the most. If they have the habanero soup, GET IT. Azure has great food too. Also, everywhere had amazing guacamole. We ate so much of it though, I am currently taking a hiatus from it.

All in all this was a great trip.

We used FunJet--Lomas***NOT*** associated with Live Aqua. Diego is an imbecile. He is never there to check in for your travel home. We must have gone to his desk 4 times and he was never there. The other travel arrangers even said he had not arrived yet. However, when he finally showed up he said he had been there the whole time, but was leaving in 5 minutes. Another example of his incompetence, he told two of our friends, who did not have a flight out until Monday, that they were on his schedule for Sunday. So if they were not going to leave on Sunday, then they would have to pay again. Obviously, this was an error on Lomas's part, since our friends had not changed their flight.

Anyway, do not expect anything from him. In fact, if you can use another car transport service, you should.

Just returning back in Mid April 2013..Resort is outstanding..great rooms...excellent service..friendly and extremely helpful staff. Thanks to Executive Chef Eric, Chef Fernandez and and our Water Mario, we were treated to many memorable dinners. Resort offers variety of excellent restaurants to choose from and our favorite was "MB".
Pool area is beautiful and well maintained. Truly recommend this resort for a relaxing vacation.

This place has potential yet still lacks in overall service. You are greeted in front of the resort promptly. Bags are taken and whisked to check in. Tea and cold towels are offered. Great. Talk to check in personnel, will tell you that you must wait to check in. Annoying. Then, you must listen through a "sales pitch" of what the spa has to offer and the discounts you may get if you choose to do so. Also annoying. Would be more successful if this happened a day or so into the vacation. Our bags were counted upon arrival but when we were FINALLY given our room key WE HAD TO TAKE OUR BAGS TO OUR ROOM AND FIND IT OURSELVES! Not up to par with all the reviews I read before deciding on this resort. Drinks are watered down including the wine. If you want a good drink you must order a double margarita or a shot of liquor which we felt was frowned upon!!!! Otherwise it's watered down and not very good. Food at MB is quality. Highly recommend the injected salmon. Seite is fantastic as well. Room service is good. Room service food is cheap with a great presentation. Edible but nothing special. Other people have written reviews about balloons or champagne or some nice message on their bed during turndown service, we did not have that. Would have been nice. Drink refill service is very slow. Many people working but no one seems to notice unless u raise Ur hand or flash a dollar bill. Beach drink service is there but not very attentive. NEVER ONCE received a drink at the beach chairs. We spent a good bit of time there. The "my wish your wish" option on the in room phone is great but needs more explanation as far as what that means. Hidden garden restaurant was not good. We left before we had dessert. We love Asian food but our experience was sad as far as quality goes. I would have been very upset had we paid more money for it. Overall our experience was average but not exceptional. Bring lots of ones to tip and you will not have to worry about exchanging money into pesos. You will want to tip. I would visit cancun again but would most likely go to another resort because of the drink quality, check in delay, and overall service. Bring medicines bc we did get very ill two days of vacation. Suspect that ice was not purified and fruit was rinsed with tap water. One last addition, our room was above a roaring machine so you couldn't use the patio at all. Never offered an upgrade!!!! There were used glasses by the infinity pool every morning so u can't get an awesome pic of the pool during sunrise. Not worth the money. Period!!!!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

My boyfriend and I visited Cancun for a week-long getaway from the everyday. It was my first time to the city and his fourth, so here, you'll get feedback from both perspectives. Our first impression was that of enveloping relaxation, which is exactly why we chose the resort. There are three sides of Cancun (according to my bf): the family side, the party side and the couples side. Live Aqua is clearly a couples resort, so if you're looking to party, hook up or bring the kids, this isn't the place for you. The staff at Live Aqua makes sure to enhance the couples' experience, whether you're there on your honeymoon or just for a romantic getaway.

The easiest way to go about this review is to just bullet point list the pros and cons, elaborating as needed. We'll start with the pros, of course.

PROS:
- Everyone at the resort spoke Spanish, along with near-perfect English. Although we did our best to communicate in Spanish, there were those odd words we couldn't place, so it was very helpful that the staff could understand us either way.
- Complimentary hand massages at check-in.
- The staff members are incredibly courteous, accommodating and plain, old nice. Everyone, from the front desk staff to the guys tending to the gardens would greet us with an "hola!"
- The facility itself is pretty astounding. It is huge and outfitted in light marble, floor-to-ceiling windows and minimalistic furniture.
- Outdoors, the entire landscape is perfectly manicured. Always.
- Inside, the pleasant aromatherapy scents follow you through each hallway. You can even request aromatherapy oils for your room.
- The lighting was also always on point, never too bright or too dim, always romantic.
- The beach and pools are amazing! There are five pools and a jacuzzi, always sparkling clean (excpet for the party pool, the one with the swim-up bar... which isn't surprising). The beach is simply breathtaking. As a first time visitor to Cancun, I could hardly leave its soft white sands and turquoise waters. Just... WOW!
- The service around the pools and on the beach was also top-notch. The staff members walk around, making sure your drinks and your stomach are always full.
- The food was good. Siete, the buffet restaurant, is always a convenient option, whether you want three platefuls of the most decadent world dishes available or a simple serving of French toast or mimosas. Azur is a fancier option, serving a prix-fixe type of menu and overlooking the ocean. My personal favorite is Sea Corner. As a seafood lover, I was especially enamored with the ceviche here, and even more so because it was served at an immaculate beachfront setting.
The food is largely limited to Mexican, Italian, Asian (Sushi Corner and Hidden Garden) and Continental. That is, if you're looking for something more out of the ordinary, it's unlikely you'll find it here.
- On our final day at the resort, my boyfriend and I went in for a couples massage. The massage was wonderful! I usually go for a deep tissue, but their fusion massage relieved some yoga-induced muscle soreness in my hamstrings without any pain, so I was completely a fan. Never have I ever had a more relaxing massage! My boyfriend and I are definitely on the same page on this. Their other services also seemed intriguing, but I didn't have much time to indulge.
- The location of the resort is great, too! It took us about 20 minutes to get there from the airport and it's across the street from La Isla shopping mall. It's also a 5 minute bus ride to the central tourist area, which includes a flea market and the standard (i.e. Señor Frog) clubs and bars.
- As I mentioned before, the Live Aqua is definitely a couples' resort. It was refreshing to be in a (mostly) tranquil, quiet environment, without having to deal with kids or worrying about language. This makes for a peaceful and restful stay, from the beach to the restaurants.
- Perhaps one of our favorite parts of the all-inclusive package was the 24-hour room service. The menu was similar to the restaurants' and our meals always arrived within 30 minutes of placing our order. Eating chicken nachos at 2am is always a plus in my book!
- They have several computers (and a printer) available for use 24/7.
- Free Wi-Fi for those of you (and me) who like to stay connected via iPhone, iPad, laptop or what-have-you.
- The cleanliness of the resort is beyond belief. Every part of the property was immaculate; they offer both housekeeping service in the morning and turndown service in the afternoon. The public restrooms (which are a good gauge of upkeep) were rarely left alone for more than 20 minutes.

Instead of calling them "cons," I'll list these as recommendations to Live Aqua.
- The only truly unpleasant experience was being hunted down by timeshare sales reps, who initially approached us as a concierge. If you give them the time of day, they'll bother you, especially if you're not actualy interested in buying a timeshare. Be blunt and firm if you have no intention of going to a timeshare orientation.
- If you go to the pool or beach any time after 10am, good luck finding an umbrella or otherwise shady location. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but the sun is oppressive and you won't enjoy it after 5 minutes of direct exposure.
- Because the floors are made of marble, sound travels throughout the hotel. This means that your quality of sleep may be compromised.
- The spa is nearly a 10 out of 10 experience until you're rushed into or out of your treatment and don't get enough time to take advantage of the facilities.

All in all, if we were to go back, we'd stay at the Live Aqua and definitely recommend it for any couple traveling to Cancun.

Stayed here for two weeks end march/ April and really " kicked back and recharged our batteries".
Staff where all very attentive and friendly from the bell boy to waiters to pool/ bar staff!
Food was varied and if you make full use of all the restrauents then they are all a bit different which is nice.
Ask for preferred label drinks etc and this isn't a problem at all!
Overall a very enjoyable holiday and if I could find anything to gripe about or comment upon then it would be:
Maybe more sunbeds available?
Pools could do with deep maintence ie missing tiles and grouting required .
At really busy times waiters where spread a little thin( not their fault).
And finally maybe a review of the spa charges? We felt they were a little on the top end range considering the overall cost of the stay etc and marketed as a spa resort you would have thought a little more in line with current high st charges?
But all This is very minor points to a very nice, well run hotel and if you get the chance to go Iam sure you will enjoy!

Yes we went back and yes it was again WONDERFUL...
Special kuddos to Oscar at Siete and Azur during the day, his staff Mauricio, David, Alfredo, William (outstanding), Jesus and at night, Mexican food there is excellent with Jazhiel (sorry about the spelling). At night at Azur, with Johnathan and Chef Hugo and Luis as our server - great times! At MB, the Chef has incredible talents, Alejandro and his team, memorable evenings! The executive Chef Eric and his talented kitchen team offer delicious dishes at every meals. The beach is beautiful, Maribel and Sulma - keep us safe in the water, drinks well delivered by German and Andres...thank you! Eric at the pool bar, you sure have a great sense of humor! Eduardo, great job in all restaurants!
The service and the courtesy of the staff is truly top notch. We will return again...it has become our "home" in Cancun...
