Terrible check in service.
DRUNK PEOPLE EVERYWHERE! One drunk even tried to enter our room during the night. Loud drunks singing in the hallways at all hours in the night.
Condoms found on the beach...disgusting.
Stinky rooms.
This place is for young (18-20's) party goers. Not for families :(

We stayed here Feb 2nd - 8th and I read all the below reviews after we booked and based on some I was nervous about this stay however we had an excellent time. I like to remember that we are in MEXICO not in the USA where we are used to certain food being prepared the way we like it and so forth. So many people on here complain about food and beverages, its crazy oh and don't forget about the ones who complain about the rooms. I go on vacation to sit at the beach/pool I don't go to hang out in my hotel room the only thing I want to do in there is sleep. The food was just fine, we like to eat big breakfasts and then we like to have light lunches and out for dinner, breakfast buffets were good and the Sunset Grill is highley recommened for lunch - we had no issues or complaints with any of the restaurants and I am a PICKEY eater! Tip for breakfast - bacon is behind the counter with the omlet maker, just ask them if you want some they will give you plenty - also ask for chips and guacamole its not on any menu but its sooo good! Yes this is a family resort so expect kids, if you dont like them then dont stay here. We didn't travel with kids but we had no issues with them swimming in the big pool- no where does it say that kids can't swim in there and plenty of the kids used the kids facilities - every day we saw kids using them! Plenty of chairs around the pool and beach - no need to do any chair saving. Resort is close to lots of shopping - use the bus system - don't use a taxi - the bus cost like 8 pesos compared to a 10 dollar taxi ride - also the bus system is not a taxi service so don't expect the driver to drop you off where you want them to drop you off (another peeve of mine)!

3 of us (ages 24-28, men) travelled to this resort in the second week of February. Was a little nervous as some of the reviews were quite negative. Cost $60usd rtrn from Airport to Resort via TAXi company. Arrived had no issues checking in. They had one of their staff tell us what was going on that week at the resort and while sitting another brought us drinks and shots of tequilla. After that we went to our room on the first floor, next othe 24hr Cafe (which had self-serve beer and liquor on tap). I will add that the only beer they had there is Dos Eqis which taste terrible (to me at least). Our room was a standard hotel room essentially, facing the front of the building. It was a little noisy as we were next to the maids corridor but we were so tired at the end of the day hearing them in the morning wasn't issue.

The beach was spectacular. A lot of chairs (100+) and clean waterfront. The people at the resort seemed to be more family oriented and age 30+. No crying babies that I noticed and other guest were quite friendly and just seemed to want to relax.

The restaurants on-site were good; much better food than I anticipated. The buffet outside was fantastic and mimosas were readily available. No one got sick while we were there.

The really push the spa packages and eventually I gave in to a massage. Well worth it although I don't think they truly know what they're doing as it's the exact same massage every time (they do it in synchronization on couples massages). The hot tub is a hidden gem there that not to many people knew about or thought they had to pay extra for. It's free, the only con is that you have to check in through the spa were again they try to sell you packages.

I would go back again in a heart beat to this resort as I'm not interested in partying with the 21 year olds any more and more enjoy relaxing on the beach, smoking cigars and having a siesta in the shade while laying on a hammock. We did attempt to go to Senor Frogs and Coco Bonga but it was ridiculously expensive $45-$70 and would not talk down rates at door. It wasn't worth it for us to pay as they were closing in a few hours and we weren't going to get our dollar out of it.

Just left Gran Caribe last wednesday,where did the time go ?We were there for two weeks & enjoyed every day, even the rainy days. The activity department was awesome , they work so hard to amuse young & old . Big thanx to Dana, Benjamin, Mark, Bierley, Danny, Gama...whom we will miss so much upon our return to the hotel.This is our 4th year at this hotel, even though we travel to other destinations we enjoy this hotel as "home away from home".All the staff was awesome, polite, friendly and respectful. When we put our sign do not desturb it was honoured every time, the cleanliness was exceptional in our room , hallways as well as eating areas & the pool. We would recommend this hotel to anyone . In the future we hope to share our stay with our grandsons .Thanx to Guadalupe for taking care of us at the bar ,Chelly for taking care of us at the pool and the beach, Daniel, Ruby, Alehandro, there are so many great hard working people always smiling .Special thank you to the little lady that my husband call s his "omlet lady" .
