“Personal and Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

Tempo was the last restaurant my daughter and I visited at the beautiful Paradisus Melia Hotel. It was the perfect ending to our stay. We were greeted and seated at a lovely table in the trendy and contemporary setting. The dinnerware and glassware were standout beautiful. All this was very pleasant but the food and service were the stand out stars. Raul, our waiter, was attentive and helpful in making our choices. Carlos, the sommelier, brought our wine and presented it in a beautiful decanter reminiscent of a graceful bird. The Amuse Bouche was the fabulous beginning to the delicious and creative courses. The desert sampling was the perfect ending. No corners are cut here. Every need is anticipated and more than cared for.

“Top World Restaurant Without A Doubt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

This is Top restaurant without a doubt. It's a magical experience that you have to enjoy with open vision, the cost is not a factor, only the experience of the textures, temperatures and wines.

Every course, every detail is well thought. The service by our waiter Raul was splendid with the timings, the pairing with the wine well thought by the Somelier Carlos, an experienced and well-traveled connoisseur. Even the chefs came out to greet us (Ismael & Felipe) and explain the culture and processes of each entree.

This is a MUST restaurant, not only for your Cancun experience but for your world experience. I have been to the other restaurant in Lasarte, Spain, and this is also to be considered of this class.

Well done!

“Impeccable Cuisine and Exceptional Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

I was a guest at Paradisus this past January. Although most of the restaurants at the resort were inclusive of our stay, my fiancé and I wanted to enjoy a special dinner to celebrate my birthday.

We both had the 9-course tasting menu -- every dish was impeccable. The food was flawlessly prepared and the presentation was gorgeous. To top it all off, the service we received was exceptional. Our waiter Raul was extremely gracious and helpful in every way. He made sure our every one of our needs was taken care of. He brought out a nice dessert for my birthday with a long stemmed rose. He even offered to take photos of my fiancé and I. Best service I've received at a restaurant in a very long time.

If you’re looking to enjoy a memorable meal with unparalleled service – go to Tempo. It’s worth every penny. And make sure to ask for Raul. ;)

“Don´t let location or 80´s hotel decor fool you”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

We arrived last night on the recommendation of our hotel concierge and backed up by the tripadvisor ranking but once we arrived at the hotel we were a little skeptical. Arriving at this 80´s era hotel shaped like a pyramid you might think someone was pulling your leg that this was the best meal to be had in Cancun. These fears were made all the more real by it´s location in the bottom floor of the hotel with a view of a dark garden and closed down tourist shops. Surely this can´t be the best meal in Cancun?

It was 9:45 pm when we arrived on a Thursday night, the restaurant was about half full and once you stepped inside everything changed. The staff knew us by name and already knew about our food allergies thanks to the concierge at our hotel. We were seated at a quiet table by the windows to watch all the late night hotel guests meandering around the hotel. Our server was fluent in english and spanish, knew the menu inside and out and offered to make changes to accomodate a gluten allergy. The restaurant even has gluten free bread made in a dedicated area of kitchen. We chose not to do the highly regarded tasting menu solely based on time since we were tired from a day in the sun. We ordered the mushroom risotto to share as appetizer then for entrees the sea bass and white tuna.

My only knock on the place is that they don´t offer wine´s by the glass so instead we opted for cocktails. Even before the first course arrived we were overwhelmed by the delicious asparagus soup and scallop appertizer that come as small portions for each guest. The aspargus soup with mozzerrella cheese was so good we asked for a full size portion with our appetizers. The scallop in tomato mouse was also delicious and the presentation of all were incredible.

Once we tasted just these little treats we immediately forgot about the outside world and were immersed in our meal. Things only got better from there and the risotto had a very tasty but not too heavy/creamy base.

The gluten free bread was good but not great, however their butter selection more than made up for it...you must try the mango and chocolate butter.

The entrees were delicisious, i´ve never had white tuna before but this was so good I look forward to trying it again at other restaurants and can just hope that it´s only half as good. It came with two sizeable pieces, beats, potatoes, carrots and tomato vinagerette that was unreal. My wifes seabass was cooked perfectly as well and came with some great sauce.

I´m running out of time but this was one of the best meals we have had in a long time and can´t wait to return on our next trip to Cancun. I can´t understand why the restaurant wasn´t more crowded but just hope that others aren´t turned off by its location like we were at first. Their knowledge of ability to work around a gluten allergy was very commendable, they´re even working on a totally gluten free tasting menu that will be ready next month.

Oh and last thing, the price was actually not bad at all when compared to other nice restaurants in Cancun like Harry´s, Puerto Madero or many of the hotel restaurants. If this restaurant relocated to a standalone location or within a nicer hotel it would be packed.
