“Wonderful Boutique Hotel is great for the pickiest of travelers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Funny to see the possible nouveau riche write unfortunate reviews of this place - I agree they should stay elsewhere!!! This place if wonderful -- huge rooms, spotless hotel, friendly service. We weren't crazy about the steak house (Bonanza has better quality steaks), the buffets always have something great. Potatoes here are to die for! Wifi here does suck - slow, slow, slow. The pools are incredible - the beach is clean (yes, they rake it often!). It is a lovely old boutique hotel - very grand. Can't recommend it enough -- will definitely be back. Some of the cashiers at their spa not so great - Bamboo just across the street is much less expensive and quality of service as good if not better than here (see Sandra for a massage!).

Room Tip: Some other reviewer said something about floors 3 & 7 but that makes no sense at all! We are fa...

Great place! We had room 705 and loved it. To the left of our balcony was the ocean and to the right was town, lagoon and more ocean. Perfect, in our opinion. Buffet was really good with a ton of choices. We also ate at the Japanese and Steak house and both were great with impeccable service. There is a quiet pool and an activity pool - something for everyone. Beach was fabulous - nice and sandy as well as areas with rocks for lots of fish. Room was nice and large with mini fridge and bar. We only experienced foul smells outside at certain times - not a big deal - it is on the ocean. Staff was amazing when we tipped and we we didn't. No complaints. We never had a problem getting chairs at pool or beach. If I had to nit pick something it would be that there are no umbrellas on the beach and the lighting in the bathroom could have been better - but certainly no deal breaker. The activity team was energetic and fun. Check in and out was quick and painless. The one day is rained we just walked around Cancun and shopped the flea markets. Room service was great and it was a huge plus for us to have a coffee maker in the room. Unless you just like to look for things to complain about, you will love it here. We went fishing with Fernando at Cancun Fishing Charters and had a fabulous time with his crew. We have visited this region in Mexico 6 times and this resort was my favorite so far. Oh, and the Riu Cancun next door is where all the younger kid families are. I think we saw a total of 6 young kids here the entire time. Enjoy! We stayed Sept 21-25, 2013. Couple with 16 year old son.

Room Tip: We just asked Manuel at the front desk for a balcony - we didn't really care other than that sin...

I wanted to make sure and leave a review because I poured over them prior to our trip--I have zero complaints--the hotel, the food, the drinks, the staff--all exceeded our expectations! It was beautiful, fun and relaxing--there were always activites to be involved with if you wanted-or just lay and relax-the staff went above and beyond in every way-the food was great--even the buffett was delicious-one of the most surprising things was how clean everything was- we were shocked at how many staff members were cleaning-around the clock--we would love to come back again!

I didn't like this hotel at all: it is old, it smells and the reception desk service was terrible... The food wasn't bad but not at the level of this kind of hotels... You can get better for the same price!

We just returned from a 5 day vacation at Riu Palace Las Americas. It by far exceeded our expectations. Our service was amazing, the entire resort was incredibly clean, there was a perfect mix of fun entertainment and relaxation available at all times, and the food was delicious. I think we all agreed that the buffet was just as good as the restaurants that required reservations, if not better. The beach is absolutely breath-taking. There is plenty of room and plenty of beach chairs. We never had to worry about getting a chair at the beach or the pool. The one and only negative we could come up with is the tap water. You are not advised to drink the tap water at this resort. It really wasn't a huge deal though, you are stocked with plenty of bottled water every day. Just be sure to use the bottled water when brushing your teeth!

Recently back from an amazing trip to Mexico. Stayed here 4 nights and couldn't complain about anything. The buffet is fantastic and had a massive choice and we went to one other restaurant we had to reserve ahead for and it was outstanding. Whole hotel is beautiful and the staff are so nice they make you feel at home immediately. Great location too!

This is a nice hotel maybe a bit dated and yes there can be a bit of a mouldy smell in some of the corridors but with high humidty thats expected. My partners cigarettes soak up the moisture when he leaves them out of the packet. The staff are really brilliant especially Ado in the bar. At present I can only comment on the buffet restaurant (haven't booked the other restaurants yet) The service in the buffet is very good and there is plenty of choice at all meal times to suit all tastes. The thing I would say that when having coffee in the lobby it would be nice to have a biscuit supplied with it. All in all its a great hotel great location - yes there are rocks in the sea but this gives you the opportunity to see various fish and watch the pelicans dive bombing them. If you have anything questions or would like me to find anything out let me know.
Went to Market 28 boy was this crazy first the bus driver didn't tell us when to get off so we travelled the whole way into Cancun and saw were the mexicans live. You can't pass a unit without the vendor inviting you in (come look good price) If you like to barter this is the place to go.
