Had an amazing stay at Riu Palace. The view from our balcony was amazing, and the pool that almost connected to the private beach was also great. Food was okay - they had a lot of options, but after a few days, they all started tasting the same. The fresh breakfast juices were amazing everyday (plus, I didn't get sick!)
The concierge was also very helpful in terms of finding some tours to book in the area, etc.,
Another great thing was the fact that you could go to any of the other Riu hotels in the area to enjoy the entertainment and food. It was also not crowded - we were able to get seats in most of the restaurants we wanted, as long as we booked ahead of time.
I'm giving it 4 stars only because we had a horrible experience when we were renting out some of the water sports equipment. (But from I know, the equipment rental company located on-site is actually a contractor - hopefully Riu decides to use a more customer friendly company soon)
Ah, a note of advice - tip the servers and chefs, and they REALLY pay attention to you - and I'm sure they appreciate it! I tipped one of the chefs at one of the dinner buffets, and he sent out a "special dish" to my table.
