My wife and I went on our honeymoon to Cancun about a month ago, and we could have not chosen a better place. On check-in, we were immediately upgraded to a better room, with a superb view of the clear, turqoise sea and swimming pool. We were given drinks on entry, and received a free bottle of tequila and piece of art (celebrating our honeymoon)! All rooms are situated on one side of the hotel, therefore all have a sea view.
The hotel is located on clear white sandy beaches, with clear blue seas! It wasn't until later on during the week that we found out the hotel provide free snorkels and kayaks to rent!
With two main swimming pools - one for relaxing, and one for the daily activities (water basketball, volleyball, aqua aerobics, competitions, and a DJ there too) with a pool bar there for infinite use!
Great atmosphere, superb staff - the waiters were very friendly; they made an effort to get to know the guests and always ensured that your drinks were topped up (they do give you time to say no though if you've had enough)
The choice of 6 different restaurants also make the hotel even better! There is the main buffet restaurant, which serves a variety of food. There is so much choice and the quality of the food was excellent! In addition there are several other speciality restaurants including a Steakhouse / Japanese / Tapas / French / Italian (we definitely recommend the steakhouse!!).
Plenty to do outside the hotel complex too, including visiting the local shops and shopping centres (around 75p per/person to get a bus to the main shopping centre, La Isla)), local night clubs and bars, etc...
EXCURSIONS - we strongly recommend the GOLD dolphin day out, where you spend 9-5 (with a 2 1/2 hour all-you-can-eat lunch break at the water park, where you have unlimited access to the water park facilities too) with the dolphins, training them, swimming with them, and doing a foot-push and belly ride with them too! The SILVER is only 100minutes, and means you have to spend all day at the water park (don't get me wrong, the water park is good, but not for that amount of time, with only 5 slides...).
If you want to visit Chichen Itza, do it locally. There is a stall opposite the hotel, or you can find the locals spotted all around selling excursions at a booth - we spent 109 dollars overall for the trip (half of what Thomsons offered us), and got to visit a cenote (and swam there too), a Mayan village with all-you-can-eat buffet, and then the Chichen itza!
Absolutely superb trip, with an average of 32 degrees Celsius during our time there, and a great place for couples, with many families there too enjoying their time. This was by far our most favourite holiday that we've each ever been on!!
All rooms are on the back of the hotel, and therefore have a sea view!
