One of the best vacations that my family has taken ! We traveled in June, and stayed here for 3 days. This was part of a 7-day Cancun trip, where we stayed at two different resorts. This was the second half of the trip.
The two things that stood out at this resort were the staff and the family concierge facilities. I am so glad that I spent the extra $$ to upgrade to the family concierge package.
Check-in was flawless. We were greeted at the entrance, and then taken to a separate, private lounge. Fernanda, who checked us in and Patricia, our family concierge were one of the best staff that I have ever met at any resort. Our rooms were not ready, but the kids activity room was next door - the boys were excited to see the xbox, wii etc. and the staff promptly setup the game that they wanted ! They was premium liquor in that checkin lounge and an expresso machine - a very nice touch. Fernanda explained everything about our stay, and Pataricia took us around the resort very patiently. Family concierge includes a cell phone with the concierge and pool butler on speed dial. They called us when the rooms were ready.
The family concierge was one of the next things that I did - not only did it include private checkin, we got to use a private pool, private cabana, kids got backpacks filled with a cap, t-shirt, and personal bath stuff. They also got use robes and slippers in the room, which was very exciting to them ! Every night, Fernanda / Patricia would bring milk and cookies for the kids, and they loved it !! They also took care of all our restaurant dinner reservations.
The private pool was perfect for our family. The second day, we got a cabana right next to the pool, and so could keep an eye on thet kids while we relaxed. The kids activities in the pool were fun for the boys as well. Fatima, at the kids club, was very patient with them, and make the kids activities enjoyable for them. The first day, our cabana was away from the family private pool, but closer to the pool bar, overlooking the beach. Pool bar was good - they would happily make smoothies for the kids.
The pool service was exceptional ! Hector and Ignacius was very efficient, an courteous. I was amazed to see them run around bringing everyone their drinks and snacks in the 90+ heat the entire day. Kudos to them. The kids loved having lunch next to the pool.
The restaurants was good as well. The menu for dinner was limited, and service at Bana was spotty. The server explained that the menu was new, so that was probably the reason. Antonio at Vento was very helpful - took the time to explain the menu and offered very good recommendations. We tried three restaurants - Vento (Mediteranean), Bana (Sushi) and Mole (Mexican) and food at all three was exceptional. Server at Mole forgot to offer drinks, and then forgot to get the drink that I asked for, but was good otherwise.
The lunch buffet was good as well. The choices were limited, much smaller than other inclusive resort lunch buffets, but the food tasted good, changed every day, and even had a healthy section !
Room service was a saviour ! Breakfast as soon as the kids were up made mornings a breeze. Breakfast was simple, but fast and tasty. Kids liked it.
We loved the blue lounge. Luckily, no crowds, and we stayed there every evening after dinner. The bartenders at this bar were hit or miss. The first day, we came when we were the only people there - they made great drinks for us. But, the next day, there were a few more people, still not crowded, but drinks were not as great as the previous day. But, the ambiance is great, and its hard not be feel relaxed in such a wonderfully decorated lounge. It has many massive (king size ?) beds with pillows, and the kids loved spending time there reading or playing in the evenings.
Overall, definitely one of the best resorts that we have stayed in, made even more special by the staff and service, and the extra perks of family concierge.
Some things that I would like to see - night entertainment .. completely absent - uor post-dinner was the blue lounge till it was bedtime ! More choices for lunch, and more servers during lunch buffet.
This was June 5 - 12. There had been a storm for a week, but it stopped the day we landed in Cancun. We were very lucky, since we could not have done any outdoor stuff if we had been there the week before. The week that we were there was perfect. It rained just once for an hour, and brought the temperature down. The temperature did not up to the high 80's, but it was cloudy most of the time, and did not feel very hot. But, trust me it is ... and if you skimp on sunscreen, you will get sunburnt !
We stayed in tower 2, which is away from the center of the resort and restaurants (5-10 minute walk...
