“Second to None!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at The Vine, and we can say nothing but absolutely wonderful things about this resort. From the food to the scenry, everything was absolutely fantastic.

Food - The food choices were quite extensive and everything we ate was absolutely delicious. There are great restauran choices in the resort and you can find something for anyones tastes there. The best restaurant in our opinion was Nebbiolo ( Italian). The food was absolutely fantastic, and although the wait times for your order were long we didnt mind as we could see the servers were doing their best to have things come out faster. The steak at Nebbiolo is fantastic, comparable to a Canadian or American steakhouse. All of the other restaurants were great too. Breakfast buffet at Market Cafe was great and had a wide selection. The french toast was amazing as well as the omelette bar ( recommendation: if you want a special cheese n the omelette that is from the cheese buffet, simply bring it to the omelette bar and they will put it in your omelette instead of the normal cheddar).

Rooms - Rooms were spotless, modern and very nice. We enjoyed the balcony with a view of the ocean ( facing Hard Rock Hotel). The only downside was that the doors of other rooms slamming was quite loud but we didnt notice it after the first hour being in our room.

Other - The pool area is beautiful and you have a selection of 3 pools to choose from. The activity pool fills up very fast. The bar service at the pool was great - we repeatedly sat in the same area as we loved our server Blanca. The entertainment team made the pool environment really fun. Balam, Bethenny, and Victor did a great job at making it a fun environment. They were always helpful and were so friendly. The only thing we would have liked is more music by the pool however there was usually great music in the afternoon.

Nightlife - Although this is outside of the resort I felt as though we should review this. Each night a member or two of the entertainment team takes you out to a different club in Cancun. The first club we went to was The City - although this is a favorite with many of the locals we did not enjoy it as it was extremely large and busy. As a woman, I did not feel as safe as I would have liked there. The Sweet Club was extremely fun, and was nice as they had seats at your bottle service table when you wanted to sit. We met another couple and a friend during our stay and for our last night we decided we wanted to go to Mandala. The entertainment team was supposed to take us to Cabana Beach Club however we simply asked if Mandala was an option and they went out of their way to accomodate.

We would recommend this resort over and over and would stay again. If you are looking for a party resort this isnt for you, however it is worth it to book at this hotel. Absolutely amazing stay beginning to end.

“Excellent Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Just got back from a week's stay. This is one of the nicest Adult - Only resorts we've stayed at so far. The hotel is beautiful inside and out, clean and immaculate. They really make sure everything is in tip top shape. The food was really really good. We ate at all except the Japanese one Dragon's. Wait times were minimal or none depending on the time you went. Beach staff very helpful in finding umbrellas for you to use. We were concerned because the last resort we travelled to in Punta Cana you had to wake up at 6am to reserve your place. Not here which is great. Also at around lunch time the chefs come out to the beach and serve tapas for you to enjoy. Also we had bar/servers on the beach and they were very attentive to your needs. Awesome night entertainers as well. There was something to do every night. Favourite server at the resort was Jesus from the Red Piano Bar. He really made our stay enjoyable. He was very personable and had a great attitude and personality, you could tell he really liked his job. Overall great experience - we will definately return to this resort in the future.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We loved Secrets on the Vine! The drinks are strong, the hotel & grounds are beautiful and the staff is friendly & accommodating. The pools each have their own atmosphere. The bottom pool is loud & a party everyday and the top pool is quieter which is perfect if you want to relax & read a book. It is nice to have the choice depending on your mood. We appreciated the list of the next day’s activities that was left in the room every night. It advised the drink of the day, the restaurants that would be open & the nightly entertainment.

We loved the fish & shrimp tacos at Sea Salt for lunch. The Asian & Steakhouse restaurants were our favorites for dinner. The rib eye at the steakhouse is incredible. The desserts were always great at each restaurant as well.

We sat through the time share presentation for $200 spa certificate which we used for a great couples massage which then only cost $40 each. The staff is very high pressure during the time share presentation. We haggled & got them down to under $18,000 for a package which originally cost over $75,000! If you are interested in a time share with them play hardball. They will give you everything you ask for to get your business. They had even thrown in 2 free week long trips at the end. You will have to put 25% down & pay the rest off over 5 years. We did not end up buying but will consider it in the future.

On our second to last night we received a letter under our door stating that if we wanted to switch to one of the Riviera Maya Secrets Resorts for our last night, we would receive a free 3 night stay during low season to Secrets on the Vine within the next year. That was a great offer but we do not want to take another trip so soon away from our kids so we did not pursue it.

Our few complaints about the property are the same as the other reviews:
The hallways are very loud. The doors slam & voices echo. We were woken up every night by that.
The spa (without coupons) and the bottles of wine are both very expensive.
The lights in the rooms are difficult to operate. We couldn’t figure out how to only have the lights on by the sinks & bathroom without turning on all of the lights in the room.

Just an FYI…channel 36 on the TV is a hard core porn channel. To find this while flipping through the channels one day was alarming. I’m fine with the hotel offering the channel but maybe give people a head’s up about it & have it available for free under the "on demand" feature, not in the regular line up.

Overall, we had an amazing vacation & look forward to going back.

“Fun Resort and Great Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

My husband and I spent four days at this resort. This was my fourth visit to a Secrets resort (I have previously stayed at Maroma , St. John, and Huatulco.) Out of all the Secrets this hotel has had the best food, I was very impressed. (coming from two Chicago foodies who dine out weekly)

The location is right on the strip, and the hotel seems to have a party type atmosphere (compared to the other Secrets resorts where there are many couples and honeymooners and a more relaxed environment.) However, I also saw many spots where you could seek refuge and enjoy alone time. The hotel is very modern, and sleek.

My husband and I both received spa services, and they were ok. Can’t compare the spa here to the one in Huatulco or Maroma where they have hydrotherapy circuits to enjoy.

As other travelers have mentioned the hallways are loud, and the doors do slam shut. My husband also wished breakfast was outdoors. The market cafe was a bit warm.
