“When can I go back?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

If you're looking to really get away and disconnect, this is your place. It's not an all inclusive resort but you have a full kitchen and living room, 2 bedrooms and a real bed in the living room which I thought was a great trade off. With kids we did cereal and mexican pastries in the room for breakfast, a quick sandwich for lunch and then went out for dinner. Condo sleeps 6 easy. Private balony for each room. Beach is huge, so pretty and not the windy hectic part of hotel zone. If you have kids they have great kid activities, an adult pool and a family pool. Staff was awesome, very helpful. Everything was clean. On site grocery store, restaurant, right next to the bus stop if you want to go downtown for great food or Walmart for more and more sunscreen. If you want to party hard, this is not your spot. If you want a great get away, this is it.

Room Tip: We had a bottom level pool side room which was super convenient. Pool is quite by dark.

This was our second visit to the Royal Cancun - VCI (Royal Resorts). Again, we were not disappointed! Vincente welcomed us at the front desk and had us checked in and ready to enjoy the resort in no time at all. Even though they may not be able to do this every time for every early arrival, our villa was empty and being cleaned and we were able to store our luggage in the room and get changed into shorts and t-shirts. This was awesome. Cristina, our housekeeper, was most pleasant and she did a fantastic job each and every day cleaning the villa and accommodating our schedule and requests. Actually, all the staff at the Royal Cancun are so welcoming and friendly and that's what makes it a great place. The resort is the perfect size IMO and the staff soon get to know the guests by name. The grounds are immaculate and clean. The welcoming party on the beach on Sunday was fun. We had an opportunity to visit the Royal Sands and found it way to large for our liking. The Royal Cancun is a quiet, relaxing and beautiful little resort that allows you the peace you're looking for when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We enjoy the flexibility of making some of our own meals. A quick trip on the bus to the Chedraui or WalMart and you're set with groceries. The Market on site is well stocked for a little market and is great for getting those things you may have forgotten on your shopping trip. The Palapa restaurant has theme nights and a la carte items that are not gourmet but tasty. Happy Hour (half price drinks) is from 2-6 pm and the service around the pool and beach is great. Although we are not time-share owners, this would be the place for us if we ever decided to get into that vacation style. Thank you to the staff and management for providing another wonderful holiday!

Had yet another fabulous week at my "home away from home" at the Royal Cancun (CIC). I noticed some nice upgrades from last year such as the plumbing, room decor, bed pillows and even more beautiful landscaping. I brought a friend with me this year that had never been here before and she was pleased with everything. She tried something different each night that we dined at the La Palapa restaurant and enjoyed each selection. Our concierge made excellent suggestions for adventures for us - swimming with dolphins and Chichen Itza.
Even had the opportunity to upgrade my room for next to nothing so each year going forward, I'll have a wonderful room to enjoy.
Can't wait to return!!

Just got back from the Royal Cancun/VCI. A lot of people are posting on this property as the other Royal in Cancun as part of the Real Resorts, this is not that place so be careful. This is not an all-inclusive which is one of the reasons why I chose it.
The property is small at only 200 rooms, but each room is really a small condo with a full kitchen, (toaster coffee maker, blender, pots and pans, cutlery, dishwasher, micro etc) living room with a murphy bed and pull out couch and two bedrooms. Everything seems new or updated. This makes it very comfortable and the small property size makes it easy to go to the pool or the beach. There is only one restaurant on site with a daily special. The prices are fair but not cheap. The food is very good. The resort has a small market which has just about everything. Prices range from fair to expensive (chips are about $5.00 bag). It is open from 7:00am to 11:00 pm.
They have a small gym which is extra at $8.00 per day of $36.00 per week. In my view it was not worth it. They have 3 tennis courts, several sail boats, snorkeling equipment and bikes that you can use at no charge.
The grounds are beautiful, clean and well-manicured. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The property goes very quiet around 8:00 pm. This is not a party resort. Although the property is about thirty years old you would not know it, everything seems new. The location is tucked away from other stores, restaurants, etc., but you can taxi or take a bus for a few pesos.
The beach was a letdown, full of seaweed and turtle grass, however no big waves. Overall a good experience and would return.

Found the Royal Cancun to be a beautiful low key resort, total opposite of the high rises down the hotel zone, water is shallow and calm. After visiting other Royal Resorts, I need to say that the Royal is a great place for those with children (calm waters) and those that are retired. My husband and I are middle aged and there weren't too many people there in that group. We like to mingle with others and there just wasn't much of that going on here. The pool bar was dead at happy hour, the restaurant had barely any customers for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Most people cook in their villas to keep costs down, and rightly so, as we found the food to be just average and quite pricey. Most meals we went downtown. The location is on the north side, calm shallow waters. We missed the roaring and color of the water down the hotel zone side. On the positive side, the gardens and property itself are kept impeccably beautiful and clean. The employees are wonderful! I'd say if you have children or are retired and want a laid back mellow experience, this is the place for you. But for us, it was too boring.

Room Tip: Oceanfront villas will enhance your stay at The Royal Cancun.

Beautiful, well kept resort. Super friendly staff. Room decor charming with maid service every day. Lots of open space with vegetation and gardens a priority. Not a party haven for spring breakers. Safety is a priority of the staff. Children have a ball with lots of planned activities. Beach is cleaned and restored every morning and the two pools are heated and clean. The turtle pond is a neat attraction on the resort.

Wonderful place for families. Ocean is the calm side of Cancun and wonderful for young children. Villas are exceptionally clean. Maids do a terrific job. The whole complex is very clean.
Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Rest. is good. Childrens pool and Adult swim up bar pool.
Not a lot of activity going on this end of Cancun but it just takes a bus ride (approx. 80 cents per person) or cab ride to the beautiful malls and clubs. Usually great weather in March. This year lots of winds but still sunny.
