“Best holiday ever!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Royal Cancun in September 2011, a bit of a late review but I just wanted to add some of my photos. I'm going to keep it very short and sweet and just say if you fancy being pampered and eating amazing food then go to this hotel, you will not be disappointed We certainly were not!

This is a great place to relax and get your thought together.
We have come for the past 20 years and the experienc is wonderful. The staff treats you as if you were a friend or family member.
The room is like an apartment and is extremely comfortable and clean. Love it

This property is ideal for families and has a great beach and swimming pools! As younger tourists we would have preferred to be closer to the nightlife however there were 24 hour buses which were very cheap so travel wasn't really a problem. The apartments are very large however would benefit from some updating. My only negative would be that we were told we could not pay for room service/items in the hotel shops/bars/restaurants with cash and that all such items had to be charged to the room, however once we had used up our 1500 pesos the staff were more than happy to accept cash. As a young group we would have preferred to pay up front for items when we purchased than have to spend time going through the bill to work out who had bought what. Overall though we had a very pleasant stay!

We stayed in a lovely 2 bedroom unit, we were on our honeymoon so they out us in an area where no one else was staying which was nice. The unit was clean and bright- the bed was a disappointment, felt like it was covered in plastic and the shower was pretty week but over all very comfortable and clean.
The staff are REALLY nice, they are not stuffy at all and talk to you like a real person. They stop and have a chat and they look like they all enjoy their jobs. The restaurant was yummy, good cocktails and having the internal supermarket was GREAT! please they don't accept cash you just out everything on your room which saves hassle.

The 2 pools were big and welcoming and the ground a very well kept.

The only down side was the beach!!! ARG! I was SO disappointed. All the other beaches are blue clear water, this is full of seaweed and dark :( People were getting into it but I couldn't understand why people were chilling on this ugly beach when the pool and grounds were MUCH nicer. I did not swim in the ocean after we moved to this hotel but I guess Im just fussy.

We stayed at the Westin Lagunimar previous to this and although the beach was AMAZING the staff were rude and the timeshare was a nightmare. I do preference the Royal because of the staff and its grounds but the beach really really really didn't do it for me.

I found this resort to be the best value around. Grounds were unique and well cared for. The turtle and fish pond was a big hit with the kids. The rooms though kind of 70's style had been updated, clean and in great condition. The pool was clean and well taken care of. Staff was friendly and nice. Great location because its right next to the ferry to Isla Mujeres which is a must see. And its close to an area near downtown that we loved. Las Papas park where you will find great restaurants and a square that is safe and full of life. Lots of locals having a good time with music and dance. Lots of of culture you just can't get in the Hotel Zone. The beach was nice enough but this is not a beach for those looking for crystal clear blue water with big waves. Instead the water is very calm with virtually no waves and shallow. This allows for some weed beds to develop but plenty of clear water as well. This was a bonus for small children because it was shallow and calm. Our other children (teenagers) only swim in the pool anyway so for us it was perfect. We especailly liked the fact that it was not all inclusive. WIth the kitchen it gave us the opportunity to do breakfast and lunch at the room and go out to dinner at night. Had we paid for all inclusive we would likely have not left the property which would have led us to miss out on all the great restaurants and sights. Though this is a time share restort you would never know it. Everything is provided including, trips, beach kayaks, wave runners and maid service. Not once did someone approach me about buying a timeshare. This is a perfect beach for small children, great location and best value.

We traveled to the royal cancun in October 12 this was our second visit to the Royal and was even better than the first.
Service was first class our breakfast and lunch restaurant was spice where Gerry introduced me to authentic Mexican food every day saw something different.
Special thanks go to Montserrat Deysi Astrid Suhey Benjamin Raphael & Ivan who done there utmost to ensure our holiday was fantastic.
We ate in all the hotel restaurants and had no complaints what so ever.
The Italian restaurant in the hotel next door was also well worth a visit

Room Tip: We did not upgrade our room as the standard suite is excellent

I traveled with my mother, 2 sisters and a niece. After exhausting research on Interval International's exchange resort directory (along with reading reviews on TA, we chose to stay at Royal Cancun (www.royalresorts.com). We selected this resort based on the fact that it was not on the "party" hotel zone.

We were very pleasantly surprised upon arrival and even more when we entered our 2-floor 2 bed/2bath villa, that I wouldn't mind living in year-round! It was great having a full kitchen with all necessities including a dishwasher. Both floors had access to balconies and we had a great view overlooking one of the 2 pools.

The staff of this resort immediately begin to feel like relatives with their pleasant attitudes. The members of this resort, which I understand are loyal and rarely exchange to go elsewhere were also equally friendly. After venturing out to it's sister resort The Royal Sands, and other restaurants in the area, we concluded that the Royal Cancun had the best drinks!

We felt completely safe on and off this resort. We went walking every morning and would catch the public bus (8.5 pesos - less than $1 U.S.) to the market and Walmart to buy groceries to offset our meal expenses. The food at the Papala was great- and they have theme dinner buffets.

This resort is definitely for those who want to just relax, enjoy the great pools/beach (calm waters with seeweed, but fun jumping off the pier and enjoy other non-motorized watersports)...they also have a great tennis court.

All in all, this resort will definitely stay on the top of our list to return.

Thank you Teresa (housekeeping), Angel (water aerobics), Jeremiah, bartenders/beach waitstaff, and all of the other staff who made this vacation such an enjoyable one!
