We booked our trip because we got an awesome deal for a 7 day vacation to the Oasis/Cancun. We were very leary after reading all of the negative reviews.
We arrived on a Friday morning and to be honest - we both were a little unhappy at first. Part of the resort was closed off to another convention and we were having a terrible time getting around. We finally took the map that night and "studied" it and decided to figure out where all the restuarants were. Day two was MUCH better.

As far as the cleanliness, there were maids constantly cleaning everything. The room we got was very cool and clean, however - the rooms on the lower floors on Phase 1 & 2 are the older rooms. Our room was very near the main lobby and the elevator and it was loud. We have stayed in nicer rooms, but to be honest, we were rarely in the room. We did request a room on the 5th or 6th floor and it was a nice upgrade. You could see the ocean and pool nicely. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The food is wonderful. We highly recommend eating breakfast at the Meditterean restuarant. The beach is a little rocky in areas, but there is a totally swimmable section that is great. We heard while there, the government is going to sand dredge and replace all the lost sand from the hurricane a couple of years ago.
We did tip the maids, bartenders and waiters. Take plenty of $1 bills with you. It is very hard to get change. The service was excellent in all of the restuarants. The Ribeye steak is awesome in the Meditteranean restaurant.
There is nightlife at the Up and Down bar. We highly recommend the Star's show on Friday night and the Mexican show on Tuesday night.
The pool is very clean, unlike some of the other reviews. The only thing I can think of is that it could be rough during Spring Break week. It could be wilder when the teens and younger people are there - but we are in our mid 30's and had a great time.

We loved this place and will return. If you are a very picky person who nitpicks every little thing, you will find something wrong I'm sure. But, we were very impressed and wondered where some of these reviews came from. Any questions, please feel free to contact us.

If you choose to stay at the Oasis and want to relax I suggest staying at the Grand Oasis and get your black wrist band. If you want to party and live it up like a spring breaker, then stay at the Oasis. Let me tell you the alcohol is flowing like water..Open bars are great but be careful because the pool bars say they close at six. But from my experience everyday the pool bar was closed between 4:30-5pm. If you tip your bartenders they will slide you the good alcohol on the side. At the Oasis for vodka they served is Blue Ice. I personally must have had two bottles of it one day at the pool and I still didn't even feel drunk...Could we say watered down maybe? The restaurants were between ok and good. I am from NJ and we have some of the best restaurants around, so I do know my food. I suggest if you want to go to the Steak house, get there early...The line builds up fast and they are not open on saturdays. The buffet gets old after a few days, it really doesnt change that much...Basically the same things for dinner and lunch every day. But there is no reason why you can't do a restaurant and the buffet in the same night for dinner. The seafood restaurant is nice but unless you are staying at the Grand, you will have to pay $15. Byt the way, you can drink the water out of the tap at the Oasis..It is FILTERED. So don't worry about it. My overall experience is 4 out of 5 stars. I went to party and that I just did. But let me mention in the Oasis, there are club promoters who come around and tell which clubs will be hopping. If you pay for the bracelet from the promoter you will get bottle service for one price between $40-50. Make sure you tip your waiters at the clubs. They will serve you well, if you dont, they will just grab open bottles off other tables and then give them to you instead of an unopened bottle. Also Oasis has a foam party. The promoter gets you your bracelet for anywhere from $30-40. I suggest you go to the foam party, the women have been known to take their tops off!! Also wear a hat so the foam doesnt get in your eyes, it does sting a little. Hope you have fun and remember USE SUNSCREEN BEFORE YOU PASS OUT!!!!!

**Families beware**this hotel is a major Party place. I went 10/17-10/24 during school and it was still party central!!!!!!
The Beach--
the beach could have been better at the Oasis Cancun. Luckily I did my research and found out BEFORE I went to Cancun that being a guest at the Oasis hotels you may visit ALL the Oasis hotels in Cancun (eat at the hotels& use their beaches) I just hopped on the bus on the days I wanted to spend on the beach and went to the Oasis Viva Beach--I think they had the best beach. Maybe a little better food too.
The Food---
They food was ok/good. Not great but not bad. At every all inclusive place I have been to (Including cruise ships) the food is just ok. When you have a resort trying to feed hundreds of people, they cannot cater to YOUR taste buds. I don't understand how people can be so self centered and expect everything to be exactly the way they want it all the time. Surprisingly the Mexican sit-down place and the Thai restaurant were our favorites.
The Room--
The room did have a slight musty smell which I read about on the reviews before I went. I brought a travel size of Febreeze and that took care of the problem. Mexico is VERY humid. Our AC worked great. As a matter of fact we would have to turn the temperature UP when we would come back to our room in the evening because it was so cold!
The facilities--
The staff was extremely friendly and the maids kept the room clean.

Bottom line, this is a four star hotel in MEXICO people. HELLO. I WOULD come back here again in a heartbeat.

We booked our trip to Oasis Cancun online and did get what we thought was a good deal, not great, but good. I do believe in "You get what you pay for", BUT, I think standard items like a clean room without mold, AC, drinking water..to name a few should be expected, dont ya think?
We arrived to our room that had a bed that looked like someone had already slept on top of the covers. There was no shampoo in bathroom and just a half bottle of lotion that was used and a used bar of soap. There were no chairs on the balcony and all the furniture in the room had a sticky film on it which im guessing is because the AC didnt work. I would lay papers down and they would stick to the table. They would not give us another room and came up to clean our room....just what you want after traveling! All resturantes close between 4-6:30 which was when we arrived so we had nothing to eat. Went to the snack bar on beach which was the only thing open during this time for a "school" burger and waited an hour in line. We thought we'd walk the beach while we had the room cleaned AGAIN, and realized that you can walk it, just not swim in it since there are massive boulders in the water which are very dangerous since it slams you into them. Lady broke her toe on reviews I noticed.
The curtains were covered in mold, AC was so bad that we did not sleep at night, and the food....unless you eat at the steak house, its pretty disgusting unless you stick to fruit and veggies.....salmon lasagna, bread was like cement and imitation cheese on everything. I can pretty much eat anything, but this was nasty. Eventhough we had all inclusive, we paid to eat out. The only water provided to drink, eventhough its all-inclusive, is if you walk down stairs and go to bar or resturante. No fridge in rooms so at night, your only option is to buy it at store and drink warm or go to the only bar open thats so packed that you get to wait at least 30 mn. to get a glass of water....wish i was kidding.
The pool...OMG, the reviews were spot on. The pool near the swim up bar does smell like urine and that was from 30 feet away. The closer we walked to the pool, the stronger it was. Needless to say, we didnt swim in the pool and was lookin around wondering why the other guests were and guessing they had too much to drink and because the majority were 18 to 25, they just didnt care.
Best entertainment consisted of a drunk russian couple dancing from there balcony NUDE as they yelled down to people...hilarious, but Im sure familes didnt apreciate this.
After three days, we decided to stay with friends down the street and when walking out with our luggage, they stopped us and wanted us to check out and give them our bracelet. We paid for seven days at this dump and we told them if we wanted to come back to eat at he steakhouse which was the ony good thing here, that we would for free since we paid for the damn thing. They had us write in this book that we were staying with friends and that we would be back and return our key...seriously. We went to Sunset Lagoon and had the BEST time with COLD A/C, good food, great rooms with full kitchens, classy quality people and even got to go on a yacht. This was truly a romantic place to stay with the hacienda style rooms and quiet little places to go. Thank you Florine for making this trip amazing.
