We were recommended this hotel as part of a timeshare offer, we took the all inclusive package. This hotel do not have front beach, however it offers shuttles to their associated hotels with front beach and the all inclusive is valid also there.
We traveled as a family with small children and after seen the other hotels, we fall in love with the Laguna Suites. I have been on Cancun and Maya Riviera so many times, however, this was the first time that I stayed on a small hotel. This hotel, I calculate, has maximum of 30 suites on two buildings of 2 floors. The suites are condo style and from my experience this are the biggest rooms I have seen without paying premium prices (some premium hotels has smaller rooms). The decoration and accesories are very simple. The back of the hotel face to the golf club. At the middle of the two building is the pool and the restaurant. At the of the restaurant they have a relaxing den that during the day is used for outdoor massages.
Here is the best part, the restaurant. Most hotels all inclusive offer buffets and limited a la carte access; here all the time is a la carte the food is excellent and the service super friendly. After 3 days on the hotel the staff knows who you are. I recommend to tip them when they serve you, this is well rewarded the next time they serve you as I said before, they will remember you.
Being away from the beach also helped to really relax and for first time try other activities on Cancun. At the beginning I was affraid that it will not be so children friendly, but remember, this is Mexico, people there love children no matter what. My kids had a wonderful time, even they learned some spanish words just chatting with the staff.
I really need to thank Enrique and Edwin on the restaurant, Marlene and Carlos on the kitchen (always accepting our little changes on the menu). Mayra our room service. Finally, Angel the restaurant captain that after a busy nights always stopped and have a little fiendly chat.
As a Canadian visitor, I should remember to anybody travelling to Mexico, be respectful with your lenguage, try to learn some spanish and be patient with people that have problems communicating on English. Remember, their language is Spanish not English. It's like them travelling to New York and getting upset because people cannot speak Spanish over there.
I recommend get the rooms on the first floor at the end of the hotel for even more privacy and acces...
