This restaurant is located inside the Royal Mayan (a members only resort) BUT El Conquistador is open to the public. We made a reservation by phone. When you arrive at the resort they will ask for room number to get in, just tell then you are going to the El Conquistador. Go up the steps and it is immediately on your right .. not hard to find. The service and food were nothing short of excellent. They bring complimentary cheese straws when you arrive. They also give you a tray of warm onion bread that is to die for. Had the Seafood Stuffed Portabello (130 pesos) and Lobster Bisque (85 pesos) for appetizers. The Portabello appetizer was wonderful! They brought lime sorbet before the main dish to clear your palate .. nice! Had the Coffee Crusted Snapper (260 pesos) for an entree .. a very nice size portion, beautiful presentation and delicious! Total for meal for 2 appetizers & 2 entrees was 730 pesos and it would rival any nice 4-5 stars restaurant .. we thought it was a great value! Guitar music started at 7pm and was a little bit loud for the size of the place. That was the only criticism we had for El Conquistador. We would highly recommend and we would go back again.
