I can not say one bad thing for this resort. My wife and I went here on our honeymoon and couldn't ask for better service from everyone there. We didn't want to leave, and neither will you.

I'm going to keep my review short and sweet.
The hotel was wonderful. Rooms was great, check in was fine and the hotel was beautiful. The beach was ok. There was plenty and food. It wasn't the greatest but was good. The staff was great. Always willing to help.
If you have questions feel free to email me.

“Moon Palace was excellent”

We felt the palace was amazing. Service was great everyplace we went.
We enjoyed the Italian restaurant on the golf course the most; however most meals were quite good. We would also recommend the omelets at any of the breakfast bars.
Entertainment at the pool was great during the day. We never had a problem finding a place to sit and our waiter always kept our drinks full. We expected the beach to not be very nice, however the pool easily made up for this.
Our room was on the Nizuc side in the Mono building, 3rd floor. Try to request the corner room because you get a view of the ocean as well as the pool. It was about a five minute walk to the pool as well as the closest restaurants, which made for a romantic walk home each evening.
We did trips to Isla Mujeres and the Paradise Snorkeling. Entertainment on the Isla Mujeres boat was excellent. This alone made the trip. We also swam with the dolphins for an extra cost. Be prepared to walk the city of Isla Mujeres for a couple of hours. Paradise Snorkeling was ok, but not recommended. We were not given much time to snorkel and did not see any fish.
We also did the Lobster Cruise and the Jungle Boat tour for an additional cost. These two were by far the best. The Lobster Cruise was extremely romantic. We were able to sit outside to eat our meal, which was much cooler then below deck. Be prepared for a stiff breeze, and to watch them cook your steak and lobster. The Jungle Cruise allows you to drive your own boat (approx 16 footer) on the ocean. We saw a ton of fish and were allowed to snorkel for about an hour.

The trip was great and we would recommend this resort to everyone.

“Heaven:)”

Moon palace was one of the best hotel experiences i have ever had!!! Now I am a teenager so this is coming from my point of view not an adults so I have a very different view.

The Beach
---now everyone is right about the seaweed, but some really overreact. There is seaweed yes but as you get past that little bit it's clear but only for a little way. I actually loved the beach more than the pool. i loved just sitting it in for a while and i was never "bombarded" with a whole bunch of seaweed. So I'm not saying theres no seaweed but people, you get seaweed down on the jersey shore too soo it wont hurt you! Although if you are lookin for crystal clear blue waters, this isnt the place for you.

The water activities
--If you get the chance , I strongly, strongly recommend that you do the kayaking. It's included so don't worry about paying for it. It's right down on the beach and you sign up and off you go. They have double and single kayaks. Me and my brother did it every day since we loved it so much. We went out about 2 miles and it was crystal cllear throughout the whole time. We saw this huge starfish down on the bottom. It was so fun! They don't have the paddle boats, like they say when we went. They had little sailboats you can use too which are also included. They also have jetskiing, parasailing but they aren't included, they cost extra.

The Restuarants
--We only stayed there for about 4 days but every single restuarant we went to was excellent. Every single waiter or waitress was more than helpful in each and every single one. The italian buffet was great! Great if you have kids too they have spaghetti and a whole bunch of kids food. And the fried bananas with ice cream are to DIE for!

The Staff
--Now I've been to cancun 3 times in the past 2 years. I have never had service that treated as you as good as ever. They are the most giving people I have ever met. It makes you look at america and show you how many people are ungrateul and impatient. I never saw one of the staff without a smile on their face. It was beyond exceptional. Even though it's all-inclusive, tipping is a big part of how good they treat you. They treat you great even if you don't tip, but when you just put yourself out a little bit, they give back more than 200%. It's amazing!

The hotel
--The room were absouletly huge! A double jacuzzi in every one. Each room, no matter where you are has a view of the ocean. Hammocks line the balconys of each room which is so relaxing after you spent a whole day in that hot mexican sun!! The little fridges were stocked every day and we never had a problem with anything. The bathrooms were beautiful. Marble showers and even a phone in the bathroom! The shower could hold at least 5 or 6 people!

The entertainment
--Since we were out all day in the hot sun, we were so tired and we could only make on show in our whole stay. And let me tell you that show was so great that I regretted not going to the other shows. The enertainment at the pool was so great too! A lot of people complained that the music and enertainent were so loud, but honestly its not. In fact if you moved to another pool to try it out, you cant hear anything! The swim up bars were great!

Overall I had the best trip and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

  • Liked — the pools, service and staff!
  • Disliked — nothing!
  • Tips/Secrets — just relax and stop nitpicking at every little thing, your on vacation!!

“Moon Palace a disapointment after reading nice reviews”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2006

I should have written this review way before now, but am new to trip advisor. Our good friends recommended the Moon Palace to us, so wanting a "nice" resort we went by their recommendation. I had read some good reviews for the hotel on the yahoo travel website and thought it would be a place we would enjoy.

When we were there in May of ‘05 we noticed that the grounds and buildings were in need of repair. The grounds weren't nearly as lush and lovely as the Iberostar that we stayed in the year before.

Guest check in was good and the staff was friendly. They provide you with a cool drink and towel upon arrival and then escort you to your room by via golf cart. A nice touch.

Customer service for room issues - terrible. Due to a mechanical issue our building was without water and electricity for 3 consecutive days between the hours of 8am - 6pm. No notice ever given to us for the maintenance issues and no apologizes by management was ever given and because the hotel was overbooked no way to switch rooms. Deplorable service in our opinion.

Please believe the reviews about the beach. It is horrible. They use a small bulldozer on a daily basis to remove the seaweed that washes ashore. They use a large bulldozer and dump truck to remove the piles from the beach resort. This is a daily event and takes a good portion of the day. Few chairs on the beach when we were there - but why would you sit on a beach that smells like diesel fuel? The heavy equipment crushes all seashells. I do give the resort credit in trying to keep the beach clean - it's just Mother Nature and too much of a problem to keep up with. If you want to swim at the ocean and be at a nice beach, again use caution when looking into this resort.

Several water "toys" to rent - we did do the parasailing and the kids and my husband did the jet skis. Pricey, but about the only way to get far enough out of the seaweed to enjoy the water.

The pool is lovely. By far the best we have ever seen. Our children loved it. It's so large that it never fells crowded. Very fun and almost didn't miss the beach.

Food not bad considering it's in Al. The flaming coffees at the Mexican Rest. were fabulous.

Entertainment good - but the seating arrangements were poor -so hard to enjoy.

Rooms were nice but small. The tub in the middle of the room takes up a big part of the room. Would have enjoyed a nice sitting arrangement instead - but that again is my preference.

Overall our trip was relaxing and nice even with the hiccups we encountered. Would we stay here again - no. Based on the things we like in a hotel - nice beach, nice pool, nice grounds, well kept, etc... We wouldn't recommend this hotel either.

Even though late in coming and lengthy hope it helps you out a bit.

Enjoy your stay to its fullest regardless of where you go!
