“Best Vacation Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2010

My husband and I spent a wonderful week in Cancun recently. We had not visited Mexico before, so we were excited about traveling to a new spot. We have travelled well in the last 20 years all over the globe, but wanted to try a different place closer to home.
For the first time we experienced an all inclusive resort. Breakfast was everything we could want in the La Capilla resturant. The food was fresh and appealling. Lunch was outdoors by the pool served quickly. For dinner we divided our time between all three resturants on campus enjoying lobster tails for a few extra dollars was well worth it! My husband talks about that alot. We sipped drinks at Champions while enjoying numerous March Madness games. Even got to see our Alma Mater win.
The hotel is located on a beautiful stretch of beach that we walked on twice every day. The body surfing was most enjoyable in warm water, something we won't experience here in the northeast anytime soon.
Our room was very clean. the size of the room surprised us especially the size of our balcony from which we had almost an ocean front direct view. No complaints here.
The staff were all friendly and cheery. Everyone was smiling and available to answer any questions. The entire wait staff went out of thier way to accomodate and please us. The service was topnotch.
The only thing we did not like about the hotel was the number of kids in the hot tub. At times it seemed like a kiddy pool.
Overall, we rate this hotel a 5/5. We recommend it to all and will stay again when we visit Cancun.

Me and two of my friends stayed here for our spring break instead of the crazed party zone at the Oasis which was a couple hotels down. Upon arriving, the staff was great. We had Cancun shuttle as our shuttle service provider from the airport. Cancun shuttle was wonderful! We definitely will go through them again. The bellmen at the door always opened the doors for you which was nice, and they took our luggage and brought it to our room upon check-in. The room was a little outdated, but the bedding is very nice. It probably was one of the best hotel beds I've slept on personally. The hot tub and pool area is gorgeous, along with the general architecture of the hotel. We had a garden view, and it is beautifully lit at night. The beach is beautiful as well. We did eat at Champions the first night, and the service was very very slow. Nobody waited on us for 20 minutes until we finally asked for menus. Also, we ordered drinks by the pool one day which were about $9-$10 USD. The rest of our time we resorted to the McDonald's and 7-Eleven across the street and hotels outside of the restaurant. We also took the bus to Walmart one day which was quite an interesting experience. The Walmart had a very stagnant smell of fish throughout the store from the raw fish they had cooled in ice. Everything was great at this hotel..up until the last couple of days of our stay. We were about to go out when one of my friends opened her wallet and found that all of her American money had been stolen. My other friend opened her wallet and found that all of her American money had been taken as well. Their wallets were not in the safe, but instead buried in their luggage. Thankfully, my wallet had been on the beach with us during the day so mine had not been touched. Needless to say, the hotel did absolutely nothing about the theft and I had to cover my friends for the rest of our trip as their cards were not working down there. If my money would have been stolen too, I don't know what we would have done. Either the maid or the minibar man had stolen our money in a matter of a couple of hours. The loss prevention manager and supervisor did not speak good English and refused to do anything about it. Obviously, we were told we should have used the safe for our wallets. So make sure you use the safes! So, overall I don't know if we would stay here again simply because of the theft.

The hotel was definately beautiful...however the beauty of the hotel does not make up for the staff that stole from our room! We last saw our money an hour before the maid arrived. My friend and I ran to the beach and returned to find ALL (and the last) of our American money gone. The maid was just leaving when we returned. We reported the incident, and the staff showed us no sympathy. The loss prevention supervisor spoke hardly any english. They checked the security cameras and the maid was the only one to access the room within the hour. The manager told us she'd get back to us, but never did. We had to call repeatedly to get ANY service. Yet another supervisor came to our room (did not speak english well at all), and told us the hotel is not responsible for anything not kept in the safe. So in other words, if it's not in the safe, the maids can steal whatever they want and get away with it! We had no money for the rest of our trip for food, and the hotel AGAIN did nothing about it. Do not stay at this hotel because of the poor service you will receive. Also, my debit card numbers were stolen, not sure if it was from the maid or the pay phone companies I used. I lost over one hundred dollars. The noise while trying to sleep was not kept to a minium. It sounded like someone was bowling upstairs. You will recieve no respect while staying in this hotel, please don't risk losing your money!

We stayed at the Casa Magna Marriott from March 3-10 for our annual family vacation. This year our group included me, hubby, our 14 year old son and his best friend, and our 9 year old daughter. We booked our trip using Marriott Rewards points - my husband is a Platinum Elite member due to business travel - and also booked the all-inclusive package using points. The all-inclusive package is supposed to include two adults and two children under age 12, but we were allowed to book both of our children without additional cost. We paid $50 per day (plus taxes) for my son's friend to be booked as a child.

About the All-Inclusive Plan:
* We spoke with several fellow guests who tried to book the all-inclusive package on arrival that were told that you must arrange for the all-inclusive option before you get to the hotel.

* Kids are required to order off of the children’s menu. We thought this might be a problem for our 14 year olds booked as kids, but it proved to be plenty of food for them every time. We ordered appetizers and shared with the table, plus the kids were allowed to order any dessert that they wanted. No one went hungry. We were told on the phone that they would check passports for birth dates upon arrival, but this did not happen.

* Tips are included in the all-inclusive package, but we always tipped extra because the service was good and we felt that they deserved it.

* Drinks were good, not watered down. The liquors included in the all-inclusive package were decent brands, if not top-shelf. Beefeater Gin and Bailey’s Irish Cream were included.

The restaurants included were fantastic, though any more than 7 nights you may tire of them. All-inclusive menus had slightly less selection than the regular menus, but included plenty of choices to satisfy us. If you would like steak and lobster in the steak house, ask for it as it’s not on the menu, but included for $10 extra. Service in each of the restaurants was very good to excellent for every meal, though they did lose two out of three of our dinner reservations that were made in advance of our arrival. Service around the pool was spotty, even with a good tip. There just never seemed to be enough waiters, but the hotel was not fully booked.

The hotel itself is very nice, spotlessly clean, and had very nice views. Although it is a little farther from the main “action” in Cancun, it is an easy bus ride to shopping, bars, etc. Even for someone like me who is unaccustomed to public transportation.

The room, though not large, was perfectly adequate for us, even though we had 5 crammed into one room (two on each bed, plus a rollaway). Beds were very comfortable, but do note that the two-bedded rooms have two DOUBLE beds, not QUEEN beds. No problems with odor, cleanliness, or functionality of anything in the room.

The beach was broad with plenty of chairs. There were not many strolling vendors, and the ones that were there were polite and moved along quickly if you were not interested. There is a ledge, approximately 6 feet tall, between the newly-constructed beach and the water. It didn’t impact our enjoyment, though it was a little odd. The water was too rough in the ocean to swim in most days, though our boys enjoyed body surfing a couple of times.

Check in and check out was painless and efficient. Some of our meals that were included in the all-inclusive plan were erroneously shown on our bill at check out, but this was quickly resolved. Make sure to check your bill before you leave.

Overall, we felt that it was a very nice property that we would love to return to someday.

We stayed for four days in March. The hotel is just cool in every aspect. The room was nice, the service and everybody was doing a great job. All the rooms (even those which are not sea-view rooms) have a view to the sea (at least it looked like it).

I would recommend you to take the offer where you get 50 USD off every day from the incidentals. It does worth it. Than you do not have to follow any rules.

There is only one little thing is that the bar is kind of expensive BUT the giftshop (you can buy food there also) has reasonable prices (ie.: shaving foam was cheaper than in the stores on the other side).

So in one word: go-go-go!!! Oh one more thing, I think it is five and not four star!!!

This was our 2nd trip to Cancun, but first time here. We stayed for 5 nights with our teenage kids, 15, 16, 17, and 20 year olds. We enjoyed this resort. The rooms were clean. The restaurants were very good. We ate every morning off the menu at the breakfast restaurant. My son had steak and eggs everyday. We usually had lunch at the poolside area and went out on the town for supper. We would highly recommend this resort for your cancun visit. The beach was very nice and beautiful. Champions was a great place to relax and watch the NCAA tournament. Although the service was very slow. We did the jungle tour (which is right across the street) at the Sunrise Marina. It was alot of fun and not very expensive. Four of us did us the spa one day when it rained. We had massages. Kinda funny we each did the same one and each of us received something different. It was nice although. We also ate across the street at the italian restaurant. It was very nice. Don't hestitate to stay here the next time you visit Cancun!!!
