This hotel is stunningly beautiful. It's next door to the boxy JW Marriot, centrally located on the exterior strip of Cancun. the colonial Spanish Architecture is gorgeous, from the stunning lobby to the sweet suites. It is a small hotel, with just a few floors, a private pool, and beach access.
The rooms are tiled, lovely, and all have a great ocean view. Our bathroom did not have a tub, but that did not bother us. A patio off the room gave us a place to sit and enjoy the ocean breeze, watch parasailors, and people frolicking in the pool. Rooms were very clean, bug-free, and included a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and television with U.S. channels.
The hotel had several restaurants, as well as very good room service. Prices were reasonable, and the food was tasty, thoroughly cooked, and served in a timely manner.
The pool. The Pool! Restructured since the hurricane, it is a large multi-level pool with a swim-up bar. Lovely view of the ocean from poolside. See pictures.
The beach, though public, has several chairs for hotel guests, and beach-side drinks and food service.
I highly recommend this hotel as one of the most original ones in Cancun.
The hotel is located on the outer strip, not the inner one, which means it is on the ocean, not on the bay behind. The bus runs out front of the hotel, and will take you anywhere for a pittance, including downtown where the Mexicans live (and where there are many nice eateries and old architecture). The hotel hosts an excursion company, which will help you set up trips to various locations nearby, such as Chichen Itza, Tulum, and the offshore islands. All in all, an excellent place to stay.
