“Charming place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012 NEW

The hotel was great. Very clean and well maintained. A little dated, but fairly priced. The pool was cool, not too crowded, but the beach overall in Cancun sucks...too many waves in the ocean, not a pleasant experience. Playa de Carmen is the place to be...many europeans, charming streets, cute hotels.

“Great first time visit to Cancun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012 NEW

We stayed at the Casa Magna for a week vacation and found it to be an excellent first experience in Cancun. The rooms were comfortable, food good, and staff accommodating. As reviewers have noted, the property is older than some others in Cancun. But, we found it to be well maintained and in overall good condition. The JW Marriott next door is obviously newer and more upscale – but the Casa Magna has its own charms and its prices are fair for the product provide.

Some notes on the stay: The concierge was well informed and handled dinner reservations and other inquiries well. We had an issue with noisy neighbors (it was spring break) and the desk quickly found us a quieter room location. The beach and pool are great with very attentive service. As a Marriott guest, you can walk next door to the JW Marriott for dining, which is a nice benefit. We booked a package that included the breakfast buffet, which was massive and tasty. The only thing we didn’t like was the poolside music track – whoever programmed it really loves techno-disco.

“REALLY enjoyable!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012 NEW

My first trip to Cancun, booked a AAA rate for $89.00 incl. breakfast buffet, great breakfast, comfortable room, partial ocean view, room on 3rd floor had large patio so sleeping with the doors open was awesome, friendly and helpful staff, nice pool, nice beach, attentive beach service staff, nice beachside resturaunt, 7-11 across the street, bus stop at the end of the property driveway, planned on staying a week but got sunburned and had to head home early. Am totally planning my next trip there, I don't need or want over-the-top fancy, just clean, quiet, reliable, and a good value for my money. Just remember, folks, IT'S A RESORT CITY, and THINGS CAN BE EXPENSIVE. so plan accordingly, and ENJOY it!

Room Tip: can't really say, but take a peek before you commit, they will probably accommodate you if they...

“Back again and still love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012 NEW

Casa Magna is the perfect place to go after flying in to Cancun or before flying out. The rates are more reasonable than the upscale Rivera Maya properties and it is very convenient to the airport. The breakfast buffet was even better than the last time we were here. The eggs and omlettes at our resort had no flavor but here at the Marriott they were very tasty. The beach is beautiful. I think the water color in Cancun is even more beautiful than further south, so love to come here before flying home. Even though the red flags tend to be out, you can still swim. It's actually not as rough as the NJ surf that I am used to.Just don't go past the marked areas. The service is excellent and we also have enjoyed the pool area. While it's not the newest, it's more than adequate for a short term stay and we will certainly be back again.
