“One Of The Best Vacations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

We traveled with our 2 yr old grandson, 13 yr old son and 28 yr old daughter. We arrived at 12:30 pm was greeted with ice cold bottled water and chocolate kisses. Check in was quick and we were greeted by our personal concierge named Pepe. Wonderful man that help in all our planning and answered all of our questions.Pepe check with us everyday ask if we needed anything . Royal Resorts has its own shuttle bus which allows you to enjoy all of the pools, beaches, and restaurants. We used Thomas Moore for all of tours and shuttle to and from the airport . The resorts is beautiful, the beach is beautiful could not swim much because of the rough waters, but were able to swim a couple of hours each day when the waters were calmer. No large rocks at the beach only shells in the water once you pass them the sand in the water is soft. Sand at the beach is white and their is plenty of huts to sit at it, very beautiful....The beach at the Royal Sands seemed a little calmer. All snorkel gear is free to use they have large beach towels to use. The resort is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. We had a great time will definitely will return.

My family really enjoyed the Royal Caribbean Resort initially. It is a beautiful resort. Very friendly and helpful staff. The maid service is so helpful that she took one of our keys while we were gone and reentered our room using that key. She helped herself to my daughters I pod and 3 very nice rings. We thought my daughter just miss placed her key, until the entry log showed that the key was used when we all were downtown. All other valuables were in the safe. My daughter has a problem of trusting people, she learned a tough lesson. So please be very careful and place valuables in the safe.

Arrived in Cancun Airport, upon exiting airport to our booked car service we were approached by professional men with maps trying to help us , but their sole intention was to get us to commit to meeting them at their resort to discuss time shares, with offers for free or discounted trips. . My advice do not talk to anyone in airport.
Once arriving to The Royal Caribbean the resort was spectacular as was the beach. I can not emphasize the cleanliness of the entire resort .There is even a cleaning staff in the morning picking up seaweed from the beach. My room was beautiful and spacious. I traveled with my husband and two children ages 19 and 17. They had their own bedroom with 2 full size beds and bathroom. My room had king size bed along with full kitchen dining and living room . Private balconies. I would definitely go back. The service was great. We took tours with Thomas Moore they were affliliated with the royal resorts I trusted them and the trips were well planned and organized.. we went to Xel-Ha, Telum and isla Mujeres. Also during the day we took the city bus to cancun city and shopped at Walmart for some snacks and food. We all had a great time. There is nothing i could complain about. hope your stay is as pleasing as mine was.

We arrived Saturday June 12 at 6:30 p.m. and did not have a personal concierge meet us or welcomed with water. Check in was quick however, 10 minutes and we were done. II exchange for a 2 bedroom villa. Took USA travel from the airport...exceptional! It seemed as though the resort was 1/2 empty. The pool was never crowded, a dozen or so people each day. The service and friendliness of the staff was impecable. Rose and Pedro, beyond helpful. (better service and friendlier than the Sands in which we stayed the 2nd week) Exchange your $ for pesos at the hotel. Take the city bus for 75 pesos, although a bit of a walk down hill to the bus stop...but make sure and look for the Iguanas on the sidewalk and behind the chain link fence on your way down. Shopped Walmart, Sams and Costco...Sam's alcohol prices can't be beat! Luis sells Mahogony carvings on the beach and we bought 3....beautiful work. Never met our concierge nor asked about timeshare presentation. King bed was not bad, but slept in the double one night (while watching the grandbaby) and was miserable...hard. The 3 teens with us were a bit disappointed in the lack of people/young adults to meet as the resort seemed so empty. The beach was fantastic! I was there 2 years ago when there was none, so no complaints whatsoever. You don't have to walk down a 4 foot grade, just use the cutouts by the lifeguards stations. Fresh Pico De Gallo and Guacamole every day was fabulous. Store prices at the resort are really not that high, but variety is not there. I would stay here again, but prefer to be closer to town, walking distance to more of the stores. Did not eat at the resort restaurants as we ate in a lot and when we ate out we used our 2x1 card purchased through USA Travel. ($15) Alsways a complaint....have to pay for there gym which is ridiculous. Wireless is free and used in our room each day with no issues.

Stayed in two bedroom "villa" condo for a week -- ocean side view... ground floor.

Absolutely wonderful! Walked out every morning across grassy area down to beach and went swimming... Beach was deserted...

Everything was well cared for inside the condo and the resort grounds -- and the maid service was excellent!

The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Very sorry to have to leave !

The Royal Caribbean is centrally located within the Hotel Zone of Cancun. It is located on the beach but has adjoining property on the lagoon. I traveled with two other teachers and seven high school students on a trip to learn more about the Mayan ruins, visit an ecological park, and speak the language. We were looking for a hotel that was large enough to house our students, family friendly, and with recreation activities available for free. We ended up booking a villa (which comfortably would have housed 8 people) and a suite (could house 4 people comfortably). We spent $211/night for the villa and $159/night for the suite. Both of these two rooms had a kitchen. Our ocean view rooms were truly ocean view. We could see both the pool and the ocean.

The staff was exceptionally friendly. The staff was willing to offer suggestions for activities, restaurants, shopping.

Our room was kept very tidy. Furniture and beds were kept in good condition. The beds had average bedding and not some of the more comfortable duvet covers and high quality sheets that some of the same priced US hotels would offer.

You can exchange dollars to pesos at a rate higher than our local currency exchange office was offering at the desk. You can not change money back. The hotel did require us to have a $600 hold on credit cards for incidentals. This seemed somewhat high in our experience and we had to book hotel rooms under separate names so that meant we had $1200 worth of holds on our credit cards. You cannot purchase items from the gift store with cash, only with the hotel room key, which meant our kids couldn't go to the snack shop to purchase snacks without charging it to the room. You can pay it off at the end with cash.

We enjoyed the pool, which in comparison to some other hotels in the Hotel Zone, was not ornate but it certainly served its purpose, was clean, and well tended. We also 'rented' (at no cost) kayaks and went kayaking in the lagoon.

Overall, we would take our kids back and stay at this resort. We also would come back with our friends, significant others, or families.

When we arrived in Cancun we used USA tranfer for our airport transportation, they were great. We received an e-mail from them telling us exactly what to do when we arrive and where to meet their drivers, it was perfect Great start to the trip. When we arrived at the Royal Carribean we had a quick check in and then walked to our room. We were so please with the room and the view. All rooms have ocean views and are real spacious. Rooms are quite and the service is great. Although the beds were hard and the pillows were various shapes we managed a good nights sleep, (small price to pay for this set up). It seemed like everyone in Cancun we ran into was very happy to have us there. We had great weather and spent some time everyday at the pool, there we met a drink server named Ceasar,, he was great he truley loves his jobs and loves interacting with the guests. We would ask Ceasar questions about places and things to do. Without trying to sell us on doing something he would give us his views and how we could obtain the means to do them. You know most people in Cancun are looking to make money one way or another by having you use someone they recomend so they get commission. This guy Ceasar was not like that, it was like chatting with a friend. We looked forward to seeing him daily. The beaches in front of the Royal Carribean were beautiful no rocks nice soft sand and pleanty of shells to bring home. The water was warm and we swam in the ocean daily. No people on the beach trying to sell you anything. It was hassle free getting from the resort to the beach. We also did not get harrased by any time share people.
They had a welcome party on Sunday afternoon with music and free beers. This place is great for families, it is really not geared for the young loud partiers but you can still have fun at the swim up bar. Real relaxing, clean and service oriented. We would go back the the Royal Carribean in a heart beat. Too bad my heart only beats once a year.
