“Very nice resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

We had a 2 bedroom unit with a kitchen, living room and balcony overlooking the ocean. It is a very large resort but that was never a problem. It offers multiple options for pools, drinks, entertainment, dinner, shopping, and the beach, white sand and turquoise ocean is spectacular. The property is very well maintained and the staff is very helpful, courteous making our entire stay great. Be sure and hop on the R1 bus to Cancun check out the town. We took the ADO bus to Valladolid overnight and would recommend that self guided trip if you're so inclined. There's a cenote 2 blocks from the town square, rooms are cheap and there is a strong Mayan culture.

I have stayed in the Royal Caribbean every year for the past 6 years and have never been disappointed in any way with the accommodations, location, service and the overall friendliness of the entire staff.

These rooms are setup around a 2 bedroom with full kitchen concept that can sleep up to eight.
The rooms are clean and well maintained with the best maid service you will find anywhere and a beach with ample palapas and lounge chairs.

Make sure that you get the Royal Caribbean guide to escort you to the wonderful museum just a couple of hundred yards out the front door. this tour is offered once a week so make sure you ask for info.

It is hard to decide on the huge pool with swim up bar or the beach with waiters from the beach bar as a way to spend the day.

If you want a stress free family vacation this is the place.

Room Tip: All rooms view the ocean and or the pool. Ask for one on the upper floors to really appreciate the b...

I will start with our trip from the airport. We scheduled a private shuttle for our family of 5 through Thomas More because the flight didn't arrive until 4:00 and didn't want to make a lot of stops. I gave the service a "Good" because check-in was really slow and there were only 2 people at the desk and around 4-5 families trying to check in. All other service was excellent!
Once we checked in our room (H231) the wait was definitely worth it! Ocean Front 2-bedroom, 2-bath, full kitchen and living room with 2 Murphy twin beds. Our view was beautiful! I preordered some kitchen necessities through the Market Place such as milk, soda, bananas, orange and pineapple juice, Malibu Rum, beer, bread, water and ice. They had it in the refrigerator and freezer already ice cold! Since we were not all inclusive, I packed peanut butter, a big box of cereal, coffee and creamer, popcorn, chex mix, and cookies in our "checked" suitcase which saved us some $. Rooms are cleaned daily except for Sundays and they do a fantastic job. We always leave at least $5.00 on the table for them everyday.
We own a time share but always attend a tour to save money on excursions. We arranged it with Fermin our concierge who was awesome and booked through Thomas More. Doing this saved us $500.00 on 2 excursions to snorkel at Puerto Morelos and the Swim Adventure at Dolphin Discovery. Both unbelievable experiences! Ours daughters of 23, 18 and 12 had a blast as well as my husband and myself.
It is safe to travel by bus R1 and R2 in the hotel zone ($1.00 pp one way), but make sure the bus that you get on stops at your desired destination.
I hope this survey helped in some way better your vacation. We try and vacation someplace different every year, but will most likely return next year to go to the Mayan Ruins, Cenotes
and caves.

We went to this hotel as a stop over and arrived at night. I awoke to find a resort with four massive pools and one of the bluest oceans I have ever seen right at our door step. This hotel is a good place to rest and recharge for a few days or to be used as a stop over. It is also very children friendly. It has a supermarket on the ground floor and an empty fridge in the room. It's also only 10 minutes from the airport and will cost 300 pesos by taxi from the resort to the airport. The price for this resort is very reasonable. Luggage is stored in a small room within the suit very handy.

Room Tip: The higher room have a better view of the resorts and the beach most rooms face inward toward the p...

We stayed at the hotel for five days and it was a very pleasant experience for my families vacation. I would stay again if I ever go back to Cancun.

Check in was fairly easy although it did take about 25 minutes to complete the process. As other reviewers mentioned you do have to start a line of credit on your credit card for purchases at the hotel. They don't charge your card for any purchases until you check out. I didn't have a problem with it, I just kept track of all my receipts and knew what my total was before checking out. I would recommend settling your bill the night before you check out to save time when you leave, they will give you a check out slip. We didn't even have to stop at the front desk when we left in the morning.

The grounds were very well maintained and beautiful. The room was spacious and clean. We had a 2 bedroom villa which was plenty of room for 5 people. The villa consisted of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 walk-in closets w/safe, kitchenette, and living area. The living room area also had 2 Murphy beds. We stayed in a beach front villa and the veiw from the balcony was breath taking. They do have lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach & by the pool and there was never a lack of them. It was very nice because it never seemed very crowded. They also have a sport desk area where you can get beach towels, life vests, pool noodles, snorkeling equipment, board games, tennis rackets, etc. It was really nice to be able to turn in your wet towels and get fresh ones when you needed them.

We did eat at a few of the restaurants on the property. The Tradewinds serves what you'd get in a typical American restaurants; burgers, fries, sandwiches, pasta, etc. I believe they also have a buffet for breakfast and dinner. The food there was pretty good. We also ate at Paco Taco in the resort next store and that was TexMex. It was okay, I've had better in the U.S. The other restaurant we ate at was The Captains Cove across the street from the hotel and they serve seafood. This is a gorgeous restaurant and the food was tasty. The only thing I would not recommend is the crab cakes. They were awful and nothing like what you get on the east coast in the U.S. They don't even compare. If you're expecting jumbo lump crab cakes, don't order them and they were very expensive. The other thing I didn't really like about this place was a surcharge on top of the menu price. It should just be included in the price. The children's menu was typical and the same at all the restaurants; chicken tenders, hot dog, hamburger, etc. We did drink unbottled water with ice at all three locations and the five of us had no stomach problems whatsoever. You can also order pizza to your room and I thought the pizza was excellent.

They do have a market on the property and one across the street which was nice.

The only reason I am giving this hotel 4 stars is the prices for some things. I feel they really take advantage of guests in that way. The market is way over priced on most things. $18 for a bottle of sunblock, almost $3 for a 2 liter of coke, Ritz cracker chips $6, a bag of skittles $4, bananas $2 each. Anything American was double the price. Some of the Mexican products were reasonable. I did get a large bottle of Mexican vanilla for under $5. We used the market because it was easy but they really use that to their advantage. I would definitely recommend bringing your own snacks if you can. The gift shop was very expensive. The other thing that really turned me off was the price of bottled water on the beach. I paid $6.59 for 2-16 oz bottles. I was really disappointed they do this.

Overall we did have a good time and the staff is very friendly. It would be nice to not be taken advantage of at the beach bar and the market. Lesson learned on that.

Definitely an OK place to stay, but nothing spectacular. Small and very plain lobby compared to most of the other resorts. Two-bedroom condo was average in appearance and cleanliness. We asked not to have maid service a couple of days, and our requests were lost/ignored both times even though we gave lots of advance notice. There was no dish soap in the kitchen other than for the dishwasher, so we couldn't wash just a couple of plates, glasses, etc. When we asked for dish soap, we were told "we don't provide that." Occasionally, it took a very long time for elevator to arrive given that there was only one to serve an entire wing of ten stories. The pool and beach areas were nice, and the restaurant and wait staff were good. On our first day, we received a note on our door that construction would be taking place in the unit directly below ours for the entire next week - but it wasn't actually as bad as we anticipated.

when we first walked into the lobby, it did not have that WOW effect. The lobby is just okay, staff was busy but helpful. Once you leave the lobby and to your room, very nice layout. The room was excellent... spacious suite, big master bedroom and walk in closet. Small kitchen, but has all amenities needed.
Excellent vacation..... the only down side was the bell boy service. We were let down by twice by this service, as we checked in & checked out.

Room Tip: the room we had was on the first floor, very convenient... pool side.
