Cant stay without sharing. The best stay ever. Starting from the begging we came to the hotel earlier than expected and the front desk allowed us to check-in early. We got into our room it was phenomenal, clean, beautiful and i would say a great view. The pool was amazing, The beach so clean and gorgeous. The staff made it even better. Romeo our concierge was just great at assisting us with booking different activities and always asking to make sure that everything was going great with us. All the time he would see us would be so polite and amazing. :) The rest of the crew was great also. We loved water aerobic with Jorge. We super loved volleyball at three with Fernando, Jorge and Felix from activity center. Their organization was amazing and the games would always be super fun. Those guys need a raise seriously! Francisco at sport desk also was really great, he made us try sky riding and jet ski which was an unforgettable experience. Thanks to this staff and the beautiful resort we are absolutely going to come back. The hotel made our stay easy and we felt like home there. We will miss Royal Islander until next year. Thank you all guys!!!! :) :) :) :) :) Cibaj Family

Room Tip: All rooms were great no matter where located.

The royal Islander resort is still maintained very well , even the appliances are very old, dishwasher are leaking , fridge bottom flange metal getting rusty. So far still working. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. Living room had updated with renovation , bathroom and sink a little old but well cleaned. Drainage a little slow. Don't forget it was built over 25 years ago. The service is still excellent. When you just arrived at the lobby, you will be warmly welcome back.
The Location of royal resorts are very good, near to most shopping and restaurants. Free shuttle on every hour bring you to other Royal resorts including Captain Cove seafood , one of the best in Cancun.Plus give you addition 10% discount when you show your room key.
Nice beach well cleaned pool, and all public area give you the feeling of a High Class Resort.(when the busy hour and crowd of people are gone)
Don't forget that these Resorts were over 20+ years old.
Front desk staff are always with a smiley face to me and my family. I cannot understand some review tell some problem with them. Maybe everyone should understand that we need to be kind to others first, especially when during the check in busy hours. They are already working very hard to please everyone. All the staff had their staff meeting and special training, plus can speak English very well and some can speak over 2 languages. They also exchange Pesos to me quickly at fairly good rate. Those people always had complain need to go to stay in some other lower Class resort and they can tell immediately the difference and appreciate the Royal Resort Staffs and building structures and Air conditioners.
Royal resorts are more expensive than some cheaper resort in Cancun but they provide better and honest service . The air conditioner in the lobby and in our room still very cold, I believed they had change a new set . We have to turn it down a little during middle of the night. We travel there in Mid May 2014. Except the AC noise is slight louder than quite level. All water from your faucet is filtered.
Please expect some minor wear and tear and not so new furnitures at some area. But they had done lots of renovation in the past years already. All elevators work properly during our stay.

Room Tip: Face the ocean blocks had excellent view. But by Timeshare exchange, you may not have much choice.

We've ended up on this hotel due to a horrible experience at the Courtyard and let me tell you; the experience was phenomenal!
They were so accommodating given that they let us check in early because we had to evacuate (pretty much) the hotel we made the reservation due to horrible service and poor hygiene conditions, so when I talked to the person doing the reservation, she spoke with the managers at the Royal Islander and they save our day!
Hotel was clean, the beach view was amazing, and the service was incredible!
I will recommend this resort for families and couples. you can eat at any of the Royal Caribbean resort restaurants;l they have a shuttle that takes you to the shopping and restaurant areas (shuttle runs every hour till 10:00 P.M.)
The pool is big and there is a bar in the pool :-)
The beach, just a few steps from the hotel and they have a bar there as well.
If you need transportation to the airport, they can call it for you and there are also taxis a few steps from the hotel. Convenience, clean, excellent customer service are my words regarding this hotel.
Thank you Royal Islanders for making the a great last impression from our visit to the Yucatan Peninsula!

Happy travels!!

Stayed one night after returning to Cancun from Cozumel. We had stayed at Royal Mayan last year for a week. 2 Bedroom suite was perfect for the six of us. 2 Bathrooms were great. Headed to Pacos tacos immediately for lunch, love the tortilla soup! Had 3rd floor beach front room, it was awesome location. I could have stayed there all week! Ate dinner at pool restaurant, vegetable pizza was delicious, son liked pastrami sandwich. I would def return to this hotel, perfect for my family.

We bought a time share last year when we stayed at the Royal Caribbean and this was our first time using it at the Royal Islander. You know what you get when you stay at one of the Royal resort properties and we were not disappointed. Beautiful beaches, great pools, and spacious rooms are the reason we return.

This trip was my husband and I, our 23 year old daughter, and our twin 19 year old sons along with one of their friends. We all had a great time. Cancun beaches are some of the best - everyone loves the waves plus the water is warm enough to get right in. The weather was great for most of the week. On one rainy afternoon, the guys watched soccer at the bar and my daughter and I painted pottery. We had a blast and they made our pieces look professional. The welcome party was also a blast with free drinks, music, and a dancing contest.

The food at the restaurants is not cheap but that is expected for a resort. We bought breakfast and lunch food then usually ate dinner out. Although two nights we ordered pizza delivered to our room and it was very good. I think the Royal Resorts needs to improve their concierge service. We didn't meet with our personal concierge until our second day to get copies of maps, etc and she really wasn't much help with recommending restaurants or anything. The Thomas More desk is great but they are for activities. I also wanted to check out the menu for El Conquistador but they don't even have a copy of any of the menus at the concierge desk. They told me to go when it opened at 5 pm to look at the menu. One recommendation would be for the concierge desk to have menus of all the restaurants at all of the properties so guests can decide where they would like to go.

One more suggestion is to provide more pillows! Our king size bed had 3 little pillows which were not enough. We also used the pull down beds every day and could have used more pillows for those.

Other than those few suggestions, we had a great time and will be back next year!

The hotel is more than a five star place, the best atention and services, the place realy cool, but the food and drinks, more expensive than in the best restaurants in cancun, the " all inclusive", a real mess, only tap beer, if you ask for caned beer had to pay...

Room Tip: Do not buy all inclusive, buy your food at the supermarket, aouside the hotel if you plan to use you...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking time to post about our resort.

Our resort is a mixed use resort and does lend itself to some challenges. Our prices are similar to our competitors in hotel zone. There's a wide variety of beverages available with the REFINE All Inclusive package. We're sorry to learn our options didn't work for you and will take this as a new challenge so we can please you for your next visit.

We're looking forward to welcoming you again during your next visit to Mexican Caribbean.

Warm Regards

This year, my partner and I were invited to join my father at his time share. We had a lovely time, and were glad to see NO high school or college students partying, since that is commonly associated with Cancun!

The resort is SPOTLESS. I was very impressed. Muchas Gracias a Edgar! Our room was always immaculate. I very much appreciated the kitchen, and I felt the grocery store on site was reasonable priced and well-stocked.

The beach is the BEST. If you are an ocean lover, look no further. The highlight of my vacation was being in the ocean every day. Warm, salty, clear, fabulous. Absolutely the best ocean I have ever visited.

Room Tip: I am pretty sure there is not a bad room! higher might be better, since the view is lovely.
