“A whole day of doing nothing but stare at the beautiful water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

This past week, me and my family went to Cancun for a quick vacation with a couple of friends. I am accompanied by the wife and our beautiful soon to be 2 yr old daughter.
From Cancun Airport, we looked for the Thomas Moore Agent, we booked our shuttle with them in the US and it was so easy to find them since they have a booth inside and the person manning it pointed us out to the right people. Using their service we were the first ones that got dropped off to our Hotel, met by this friendly fellow that held our baggage until we get checked in. We dined in one of their restaurants and while the bill is somewhat steep, everything hit the right spot and even the chicken fingers was delicious.
We checked in to our villa and was delighted with how spacious and clean everything is, the kitchen is very well equipt, one common complain that we have is the bath drainage. It is very slow to drain out water.
The whole week was filled with friendly service staff and very attentive people. The resort consist of three hotels that is hard to navigate at first but is easy to get used to. They provide various eateries from a cafe to an upscale restaurant and anything in between. They also have specials every night that includes buffets and special dining experience.
The swimming pools are very sufficient, they have a swim up bar and also 3 kiddie pools at about 2 FT that the young ones enjoyed.
The beach is a couple of steps down and the property provides you with chairs and umbrellas, there is also a bar by the beach with service that brings you your drink and food so no need to get up and walk.
Over all we were very happy with the service and amenities of this resort. Will most likely to drop by again next year... or sooner

Room Tip: Bathtub is slow to drain. There is a well supplied market in the property. Most rooms are facing the...

The Royal Islander is such a beautiful property. The beaches are gorgeous, the water is warm, the pools are clean and cool--who could ask for anything more! Food on the property and adjoinging Royals is tasty and the staff is wonderful...they go over and above to make you happy. Good choice for a relaxing week or two!!

Always a great stay but the internet service is terrible. I have stayed here before and never had problems, but this time was the worst. I know we were on vacation but sometimes you have to get in touch with business and family.

Accommodations were luxurious, spacious with a view of the Gulf of Mexico. Many activities that were included in your rental fee - sail boats, snorkel equipment, games, classes. No need to carry cash as everything was chargeable to your room by guest. Since I was staying with friends each of us could keep track of our spending and pay separately at the end.

Activities outside of the resort was also coordinated by a travel service in the hotel. You get the best value for your excursion. We went to coco loco( don't miss this if you're a music lover). We had the best location in the club and payed a reduced rate $50 which included transport to venue. We. We're seated in a upgraded location which would have cost $120 if purchased outside of the hotel.

I highly recommend the Royal Resorts.

This is a timeshare I own, and it never disappoints. Something for everyone. Can be as busy and active as
you want or just hang around the resort and local environs. Staff always helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Request one close to pool, floor 4 or 5.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at the Royal Islander and was very impressed. This was our first experience staying in a non-all inclusive type resort and found it to be just as convenient and quite economical.

Upon arriving in Cancun, we caught the shuttle for our pre-booked airport transfer with Thomas More excursions. It was a nice ride and the driver and porters were very nice. The upon booking, you can enter your room number (if known) or the hotel confirmation number and the fee is charged to your room. Pretty convenient.

Upon arriving at the Islander, check-in was easy and we were in our room with our luggage within 30 min or less.

Some of the things we found very handy were the on-site market, money exchange, and ability to utilize the ajoining Royal Mayan and Royan Caribbean properties. I was cautious before arriving on just how expensive the restaurants and market would be, but taking into account the ease of not having to leave the resort, the prices were fair. The markets (each Royal property has one) have everything one would need (within reason) and came very handy.

As far as the service and demeanor of the hotel staff, they were wonderful. Always very friendly and helpful.

Our room was the double bed "studio" or lock-off from one of the villas. Very spacious, with a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, silverware, plates/bowls, etc. Very nice, very clean. Exactly what we needed. There is a small balcony, not big enough for furniture, unless you turn a chair sideways. Again, some might be unhappy with this, but it suited us just fine.

To reinforce what a previous reviewer said about Willy the pool waiter (Wilfredo), he was great. Very nice, outstanding server. I think you will be impressed with all the wait staff there.

Overall, great trip!

The royal Islander in my opinion is a bit smaller than the other Royals, but that's the way we like it. Very spacious villas, updated furniture in 4834, overlooking the beach was great. Willy the pool waiter is fantastic to watch, he almost runs waiting on everyone and is always smiling and joking, best employee the Islander has. I must say though if this resort changes over to all-inclusive in 2013 then so sad that we will not be back. We're hoping it doesn't work!
