I was traveling with 2 friends, down for a guys week and when it was all said and done, we had an amazing time. I don't think I've been to any other resort with staff as friendly as the Parnassus. And then what made it even more enjoyable was the other guests were extremely friendly as well!

For the most part the resort was full of couples, which wasn't ideal for a guys weekend, but we still had a great time. The average age of the guests was probably around 40.

The food was decent. I was honestly disappointed with the food in the buffet for breakfast and lunch, and for anyone who has eaten even half decent sushi in their life, they will not enjoy Sumo. Old Barn was decent. Pier 12 was good. Shangri-La was very good. A couple of the restaurants had some fantastic dishes. Most of them are quite small and perfect for sharing so you can try a bunch of different things and pick out what you really like. There is a snack bar open 23 hours a day (and we never figured out which hour of the day it's actually closed). Not much selection, but we definitely had our fair share of nachos and cheese.

The rooms were clean enough and comfortable enough. Anyone who complains about their room should probably be spending more time around the pool or at the bar anyways. Our air conditioning was great and got the room cold enough that we often had to switch it off at night.

The location was decent. Not walking distance to much, but only a short cab ride to a mall, Senor Frogs, and of course the clubs. Make sure you check with the staff before taking a cab to find out what the max is you should be paying for your trip. The Cabbies will still try to rip you off.

Be careful you don't accidentally break a table while playing beer-ping-pong in the Beer Garden, because they cost $80 to replace!! ;)

This hotel still has a beach, while a lot of hotels further south don't.

It was the low season for Cancun, but this hotel still seemed busy compared to some of the others we walked by along the beach. If you are looking for a relaxing, fun and friendly destination I recommend the Golden Parnassus.

My husband and I spent five nights/six days at the Golden Parnassus. Although the hotel is older than most, the resort is very clean, the staff very friendly and helpful and the food was a "solid" good. We were there during the "low" season and therefore, we felt that the staff was more than friendly and helpful. There is a free shuttle bus to the "sister" property and it is nice to see what amenities are there as well. The only negative that we had was NO ENTERTAINMENT! No shows while we were there. We even had our travel agent call ahead and they said si, si, but it was no no. They did have poker or karaoke in the "Beer Garden" or pay $50.00 plus to go to a club downtown. That is not my idea of entertainment at YOUR OWN HOTEL. The spa was wonderful , had a pedicure, so relaxing. The shops on the premise were clean and prices were great. The jewelry was all at 70% off and I bought a few things. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Our room was on the lagoon side and it was fine. We were so glad that we had a "safe" and you did not have to pay extra for it. The maid cleaned daily. . We tipped everyday when we received good service. The pool was ample. The beach has very soft white sand, great for long walks ,the surf very strong the week we were there and no swimming was strongly encouraged. The breeze from the water was inviting, Went to visit both hotels to the right and left of the Golden Parnassus, and people were non-existent. I believe that the Golden Parnassus had the most people booked for that week. To sum up: we had a wonderful time, going back next October! This was a fantastic deal!

I really loved this hotel even though it was my first time in cancun. The only problem was the Lomas guy. Please be careful with Juan Diaz . If you plan to take a rip to Xel-ha please do not buy from the Lomas Guy. Even one of the hotel staff said that the Lomas guys are always ripping people off. He will rip you off. He sold us a package to Xel-ha and Tulum. He charged us $120 for both, the next day he charged an extra 30 bucks. He is a real good lier. I don't know why the Hotel still lets this crook in but please don't buy from the Lomas guy. He acts nice but all he wants is to rip Americans off our hard earn money. There are other people there selling the same package and ask them if it includes meals because Juan Diaz the Lomas guy says the others wont add the meals. Please do not buy from the Lomas Guy.

We stayed at this hotel based upon the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were extermely disappointed. First of all, the hotel is very old and run down. My room smelled very musty. The hotel lobby and other areas did not have air conditioning and it was very hot and uncomfortable.

The food was "ok". The breakfast buffet has "to taste" eggs and some other things. Not very high quality. For dinner you could choose the Sumo - which offered good fried rice, but little of anything else. The sushi there is NOT fresh. Pier 12 had seafood. The grouper there was good. Old Barn offered steaks - but they weren't very good. Shangri-La is your best option, but you must dress up to go there. Regardless of which place you choose, it will take 2-4 hours to get your meal. The service is VERY SLOW.

Also, the wait staff, espcially at Jorge at Pier 12 ask for large tips. We did tip $10-$20 at dinner and $5-$10 at lunch/breakfast if we got exceptional service. We left less if we didn't. Tips are expected here even though it's supposed to be all inclusive.

We did go to the sister hotel, The Great Parnassus. This hotel is more modern, and the service was a little better there. However, the shuttle only leaves once per hour so if you miss it, you are stuck there until the top of the next hour.

The maid apparently smoked in one of our rooms, because our room and clothes smelled of cigarettes. We complained but nothing was done about it.

We wanted to make change, but they did not have any Americal dollars and could only give us pesos. Other hotels had a 13 pesos for $1 but at the Parnassus it was 12 pesos for $1.

Also you should note thta there is no wi-fi available and if you want to use the business center's computer (which has a lot of viruses), you must pay $2 for 10 minutes or $3 for 30 minutes. I brought my laptop for no reason.

Almost every night around 2 - 3 am we heard loud shouting in the hall ways. The other hotel guests seemed like they were there to get drunk and get loud.

The "photo" girls were very nice though. Also Hugo who ran the shuttle was pretty awesome. The best thing this hotel going for it is the beach - it was simply gorgeous.

I will not be returning to this hotel.

My husband and I had one of our best vacations ever. We have been to several resorts in Grand Cayman,, Saint Maarten, Jamaica and Cancun. We had previously been to Cancun 17 years ago and 8 years ago, and this was our first time trying an all inclusive adults only resort. It exceeded our expectations. Although the facility is older, the whole resort was very clean, the staff extremely friendly, and the food very good. I was worried the quality of the food may be poor, but all of our dinners were very good, and there were many selections for breakfast. The pool side burgers were yummy. The only thing missing is good chocolate-y desserts, but no restaurants seem to have them...maybe chocolate is expensive in Mexico! The drinks weren't watered down, and bring your own plastic cup or buy one there because the glasses are small. The front desk staff has been slammed in some reviews for not being friendly and I have no idea why. EVERYONE was very friendly ...Hugo in customer service and Guillermo at the Grand Parnassus adults only pool bar were exceptional. The resort was not very crowded because we went in mid October so the pool size was fine, although I could see why some might consider it small during peak times. Take advantage of the free shuttle bus to the sister resort, you have more dinner options and the adults only pool there was cooler and hardly ever had people using it. Almost every day our maid made "towel animals" and placed them on our bed. Please tip the staff...they deserve it because they provide excellent service.
