“Amazing food, great service, beautiful decor!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

We dined at Du Mexique for our anniversary this year. We've been to Cancun on and off for over thirty years and this is the first time we've been to Du Mexique...it will certainly NOT be the last. Chef Alain greeted us and, as we were alone in the dining room (being Americans we tend to eat earlier than most...the dining room filled up later in the evening), he suggested we share each of our appetizers and entrees in de gustation menu style. What a great idea! The food was fantastic and Chef took the time to describe (and discuss!) each item with us. He told me how to make several of the menu items. He offered recipes! He was the most charming man and VERY attentive. (BTW, did I say the food was fantastic? Creme of Cilantro Soup, Tarte Tatin with Figs and Foie Gras, Duck Confit stuffed with Duxelles and Foie Gras and a Rib Eye Steak in Bordelaise Sauce...and then dessert!).
And then there was Sonya, his wife. So charming and welcoming! Her friendly manner and personality enhanced an already wonderful evening.
And, oh by the way...All this with a terrific wine and a well deserved tip...$180 US for two. I expected twice that!
We will be back....maybe later this week! NOT TO BE MISSED!

“The most gourmet restaurant in Cancun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

After a few trips to Cancun, I realized that the best restaurants are downtown and not in the hotel zone. Du Mequique is a friendly family restaurant. Chef Alain is constantly present , and his wife takes your order and serves you. The food is superb and they really have pride in having you enjoy it!! I had a four cheese soufflé, that was delicious and then I had another appetizer: the fig and foie gras tarte, Which was great. I wanted to have dessert and ordered the Grand Marnier Souffle that was outstanding. The owners are very friendly and attentive.
Its a smallrestaurant, around 6 tables so I suggest you to make a reservation. The ambiance is classical, with white tablecloths, It could use a little more décor and warmth. I would definitely go back the next time I am in Cancun.

The best tuna tartar I have ever had. Everything was so perfect from the time we walked in until we were hugging the owner and his wife good bye. Simply wonderful!!! This is a can't miss when in Cancun.

“Great resturant away from the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

My wife and I have been coming to Cancun for 26 years and have eaten in a lot of resturants.
This is one of the very best in Cancun. It has been open for 6 years but we just heard about it.
It is not on a beach so no beautiful view to interfer with the superb food (although there is a great little garden in the back). It is very intimate with only 7 tables run by a husband and wife team (she's Mexican and he's French). My wife and I each had different duck dishes that were outstanding. The ambiance, intimitacy and the great food make this a great choice for that special dinner out.

“Wonderful Food, Expectacular Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

The food was simply amazing! The service is above and beyond.
When you walk into the restaurant you are greeted by the kindest, most hostess you would ever meet in your life and that is Mrs. Grimond.
The Chef came out of our table and explained the menu in English. Recommended items base on what he thinks is the best not base on the price. After a magnificent meal which was after 3hrs he called us a taxi, his wife said her good byes with hugs and kisses, and the chef walked and open our cab door for us after giving us a hug goodbye. Truly a meal to remember.. A Must stop in Cancun.
