Our group of 10 couples ages early 20’s-late 30’s & stayed @ this resort back in Oct 06. Our room was clean with a great view of the pools & ocean, but no balcony. The beach & pools where great. The food was typical All-inclusive Cancun style...best meal is breakfast.. The drinks where good. There is not much in walking distance of this resort & it is a little way from clubs, restaurants & shopping, but getting around is easy in Cancun-by bus or cab. We had a good time in the resorts night club but even better time on the bar hop..Cancun is fun as a couple & a blast on a group trip.

It is a big resort but boring.
We stayed there in February 2009 and it was very hot during the day and cool and windy at nights .
The beach was very clean and beautiful but with very big waves as they explained February is a middle of winter in Mexico and that’s why the ocean gets wild so we almost didn’t go inside the water.....sucks
Hotel bars were open only till 11-11:30pm so around 11 pm this place shuts down...and looks like a seniors club, also we have noticed that not too many young people stay there (we are 24-26 years of age)
You must to go out to the Down Town of Cancun otherwise you will be bored to death and I’m not exaggerating.
We went partying almost every night, the clubs are amazing in Cancun.
You pay like 40-50$ to get in and you get VIP and free drinks all night.
The other thing we didn’t like is food. All restaurants were always booked , people were getting up at 6am to make sure to put their names in the list ,so we had to eat buffet all the time and the second thing is a weird smell of some strange food all over the hotel.
In general we had a good time and it was a nice vacation.
Honestly I wouldn’t go back there, but have to say that the beach and the view are amazing (like probably in every hotel in Cancun).

For the cost and location, the Grand Oasis Playa is what it is: a mid-range all inclusive.
Or maybe it would be best stated with; "you get what you pay for".

Our first issue in Cancun were not with the hotel, but the booking agent who sent us to the wrong hotel. After a lengthy wait in the heat, we finally found our way to the Grand Oasis Playa. The staff that greets you are friendly. We found our room to be clean and sufficient. Our toilet did not work, but they had it fixed that within an hour.

The staff are generally friendly. As at any location, you found a few staff that seemed less than happy. As for the staffed mini bar and fridge, we still were looking for that after a week. If you request service, you will find 2 beers in the fridge upon your return. If lucky, they will supply water daily. Don't expect much with housekeeping. You will get your bed made daily, but don't think you will get towels or soap unless you ask.

The food is sufficient. Really, for what you are paying, could you ask for more? We were happy with all of our meals. It is your standard all-inclusive meals.

The drinks consist of watered down liquor and beer. If you go to the bar and ask for a good drink, they may poor you a bit more. Though not potent, they do help quench the thirst on a very hot day.

The grounds are well kept, as are the pools. The rooms could use updating, but as stated earlier, they are sufficient.

We enjoyed the location. Easy access to the bus and town. For those who want a local trip, take the 4 mile bus ride to El Rey. This site is wonderful. A mayan ruin that has been taken over by gila monsters. We enjoyed this no frill trip, and took some great pictures.

Overall, the hotel is fine. It seems better fitted to the college aged student. Acceptable rooms and adequate food. If you are looking for a luxury vacation, well, this is not the place. If you are looking for a nice get-away, well, this may do.

We stayed here on our first all-inclusive trip together as a couple. We were both a little worried because of the wishy washy reviews. But actually if you read up on other resorts, they all have both bad and good reviews.

From the moment we walked into our Oceanview room, we were in heaven. The room was gorgeous, the bed was exactly like the pictures online. We had a "true" ocean view and a jacuzzi on the balcony. Every night and every morning , we fell asleep and awoke to the most soothing sound of the ocean waves! Complete paradise. AC worked fine, plumbing was working perfectly. Room was clean and mold free.

The food was plentiful and you could find just about everything. Picky eaters should just stay home, all inclusive, all you can eat settings you will never be satisfied. No mistake, it is not gourmet food, but more then edible and plentiful. Alcohol drinks are watered down, and house brand type liquor. Bartenders, waiters and housekeeping are more than happy to accommodate your requests. Service was great.

The ocean was beautiful with minimal seaweed. The resort is located on a strip of many different hotels. Very touristic location. We rented a car and went up town and visited the local Walmart and Sam's Club. Driving was not bad. There is a nice luxury mall just like US malls close by and a flea market type place to buy souvenirs.

We truly enjoyed ourselves, and would return and would recommend to our family and friends! For the price this resort it's a steal.

We traveled from the 16th thru the 20th and had a great time. We stayed in an ocean view room which I would highly recomend because the views were awesome. The Staff was eager to please (make sure you have extra small bills for tips, it is all inclusive, but a bill gets you special attention/details) definetly eat at Kuncal resturant, we had the best meals there and Ernesto & Lazaro were top notch servers. (We requested them every nite, my son enjoyed learning new spanish words and they made him laugh all the time.) The pool was the BEST, we sat near the music and enjoyed the sun and views. The Buffets were verygood. The kept up with place and housekeeping did a great job in keeping up with the room.
You have a refridgator with free sodas and water, leave a tip inside and get "extra" water and beer DOWN SIDE just one...we waited an hour and 15 minutes to check in...they are task driven instead of customer oriented then again you are not in USA. Don't sweat the small stuff and you will have a wonderful time. (90% of the negative stuff did not happen, not true)
