We traveled to this resort from 4/11-4/20 with 4 people (two adults and my daughters ages 13,15) Before we left we were VERY nervous about going because of all of the negative reviews we had seen. When we arrived check-in was crazy when they say 3:00 they mean 3:00 and we were already tired and just wanted to sit on the beach but had to wait 3 hours for our room to be ready which after we met Annie was no problem because she provided us with drinks and a tour of the resort while we waited! We had gotten two rooms, one for our daughters and one for my husband and I and that was nice considering I have no idea how you would fit 4 people in those rooms because they are small so I guess it worked out to our advantage. We had emailed them before and got rooms right next to each other and the view from our balconys was so beautiful. There are so many kids for the children to hang out with and the entertainment staff at the resort was amazing! Eddie always kept the girls busy with pool games, soccer games, and much more. The shows were okay the girls loved going to them but my husband and I didn't enjoy them as much because they were mainly geared to the younger children.
Now onto the food. It was okay. The buffet was good for breakfast the girls loved the chocolate milk and churros but I would not recommend the buffet for dinner which brings me to the reservations. You need to call two mornings before to get a dinner reservation at a restaurant which soon became a hassle because you needed to call at 8:30 am to get that. The seafood resturant was the best! Waynes boot which was the southern restaurant was our least favorite except for the wings, the wings at that restaurant are to die for! For lunch you don't have many options besides the pool bar (burgers, hot dogs, chips), the buffet, or the sushi restaurant which in our case my kids don't like sushi so it was the same thing for lunch every single day. The best part of lunch for the girls was the ice cream they have in the buffet it changes every day and there is endless supply of sprinkles! Also the the thing not to miss is the late night crepes at the buffet, they were the best and made however you wanted!
There are many young children running around the resort so if you don't want to deal with kids don't come here it is more of a family resort which in our case was perfect. We took the public bus that picks you up right in front of the resort. For 1 dollar you could go anywhere in cancun and it was very safe we had no problems! We went to the huge outdoor mall which was very cool and had so many things to do (TIP go at night the whole place is lit up and there is a lot to do) We only booked one excursion through the hotel to the Xplor park and it was a very good experience for our teenage girls (younger children may not like it) The park has lots of ziplining, ATVs, cave swimming, and lunch included. I would highly recommend it if you like adventures.
If I were to suggest something that none of us liked and that needs major improvements its the nightlife which is limited. After dinner the kids always went to the show which ended at 9:30 pm while we went to the adults bar. Then for kids you could go see a movie, play pool/table tennis, or hang out in the collage (a family lounge) and there is a teen/adult club but nobody ever went there so that only left so many things you could do at night before you got bored. My teenage girls love to keep busy and like any teenagers on vacation would like to have things to do until at least 1 am. This left them to wander around the resort with some kids they occasionally met up with. The girls loved the cruise we went on last year because they got on the boat and all the kids were in one area all the time hanging out and they had so many activities for them to do all the time where as here they had lots of day activities but no night activities.
All in all our vacation was one to remember. The beach was gorgeous and here you will create family memories that will last a lifetime. You will meet people who you will never forget and the staff is amazing and we will never forget Annie, Jorge, Eddie, and many other people who made our vacation worth it. If you want a relaxing family vacation and you want the most for money this resort will be perfect as long as you're not expecting some 5 star resort then you should look somewhere else.
Being on the 4th floor was nice because you could take the stairs if the elevator was backed up and...
