Our 5 night stay at the Omni was awesome! We had an ocean view room with spacious balcony. The view was an aqua expanse and gorgeous. Better than the room and view, though, was the luxurious "how can we please you" attitude of the entire staff...from the front desk, to the waiter in the restaurant, to the gardener. What a treat to experience when on vacation! One concierge there, Monika, has won prestigious awards in the area.
We opted not to have the "all-inclusive" as we wanted to get into the town and experience the local fare/culture. We did eat a few meals at the Omni, though. Breakfast was over-the-top superb.
We enjoyed lazing by the pool, taking the bus (VERY EASY) into town, to church, to the ferries.......we liked jogging on the path to the right of the hotel to the public beach and back. The fitness center was a great place to get a good workout.
Our favorite activities in Cancun? Definitely snorkeling at Isla Mujeres and going to church (Resusicentado) (sp?) on Sunday for Mass.
What could be better? (Always something can fit the bill).... I would've loved the bathroom to be more luxurious. It was definitely fine, and clean, though.
We definitely want to return as soon as possible! We miss the warmth of the people already.

Disgusting Management with nasty attitude! This was my second trip to Cancun and quite frankly it will be my last! I came here against all recommendations with the swine flu epidemic, but hey I thought with the lack of travelers service would be great-what a wrong thing to think. Upon arrival I checked into a room that was laced with urine all over the toilet seat. When I asked to be moved into another room and asked if I could have an ocean view room-the current room-u know the one with all the urine-had a bad view of the lagoon-what lagoon-this was just a room not facing the ocean-with only twenty percent occupancy the manager said "i give you room that is exactly like room you reserved" clearly the twenty minute wait to recheck into another room was not reason enough to give me a room with a view-did i mention they were at twenty percent occupancy? The food-what a crime. nothing is fresh the word fresh fruit should have exsisted only on my death bed, since it did not exsist. after four days my body was screaming for anything unprocessed and I am cutting my trip short. I am sick of looking at the rust stained lamp shades in my room , spending money on food I would never put in my body in the usa or really even here in mexico processed sugary and poorly prepared. when I went to get this internet connection-which of course did not work initially . the nasty let me repeat nasty front desk manager said " no one use internet except you-in that rude condesending voice of his-finally i explained ive had enough of your rudness and I am leaving my vacation early!!!! no more spending my money in your horrible dirty resort!!! and for the record i went to the marriot two days in a row and had massages and drinks with real fruit! the beach was also terrible rocky you cannot swim here.

me and my husband were nervous about booking a hotel but after reading all the reviews on the Omni we booked there and were very pleased. The people who work in this hotel never stop cleaning. Our room was nice overlooking the pools and ocean every morning when i woke up i could not help but look at the view. The pool staff had music and games going everyday.Me and my husband cant wait to go back!!!

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at the Omni in Cancun. We recommend this to anyone who is looking for a very well run hotel that has almost everything you would require during a one week stay in Cancun: beautiful beach (check out my pictures), good food, great room, and incredible service.

We went to Cancun for our daughter’s spring break to relax and get some sun. Most of the hotels have lost their beach but the Omni still has a little one with a cute little bar on it. You can’t swim in the ocean because of the waves and the rocks. If you walk down to the Hilton—they had a small patch sand where people were swimming but it would too dangerous for children. My daughter loves swimming pools anyway so she had the best time.
We did not do the all inclusive here because we wanted variety but did eat breakfast everyday which was yummy. The dinner buffet restaurant was passable but let’s face it, inclusives are not gourmet. The Da Vinci restaurant was just ok. One night we went across the street to Captains Cove for dinner. The view of the bay and the sunset was beautiful. The food was good (I love seafood). The best part of dinner was the resident alligator who would swim up beside the tables and beg for scraps—my daughter and all the other kids loved this. Note—this is probably why you would not want to swim in the bay. On other night we went to Harry’s steakhouse, a short bus ride and then we walked back—it was expensive and high-end. The staff there was very nice and the food good. My daughter also loved the shows and on the Friday all the kids got on the stage after and danced.
We did the Chichen Itza trip. Don’t let them fool you—it was a 3 hour bus ride there and 2.5 on the way back. It was fun but a bit much for a 5 yr old.
We got a basic room facing the Bay. It had a nice view and balcony but they face the air conditioner fans which you can here sometimes. I would splurge for the ocean side if this is your main vacation of the year. The rooms were clean and fairly updated and had flat screen tvs. There was a damp smell when we arrived—as is the case with most Caribbean locations—but it diminished during our stay—when you get your own smell in. I would recommend that the hotel get a nicer smelling cleaner—they clean the floors with ammonia which is not that pleasant. The beds were comfortable enough but no luxurious linen or pillow top mattresses.
Tip: join the Omni hotels rewards club before or when you get there. We got wireless internet throughout the whole hotel and morning coffee, newspaper and beverage everyday for free!
The grounds are well kept and there are 3 pools. You have a great view of the ocean from the pools and it is really beautiful. One reviewer mentioned the hot tub and they are correct—kids in it constantly. In my opinion the Hotel should not allow babies with diapers—that just gross. The swim-up bar on the beach is a hot tub too—so go there to get away from the kids.
We thought the staff was very nice and helpful without being obsequious. The hotel had games and contests for the kids but it wasn’t like some hotels that blare “party” music all through the day. We were approached for the time-share but after saying no once—no one bugged us again. We were also there during the Swine Flu scare (we found out later) but not of us got sick.
All I can say is we had a great relaxing time. Just what we needed.
