“Awesome service, beautiful setting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

We stayed at the Omni Cancun during the first week of February. We found it to be a beautiful hotel. It is clean and well-maintained inside and out. The pool and beach area is expansive and gorgeous. The staff were very friendly, courteous, and eager to please. The rooms are equipped with a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes and flatware. We opted out of the all-inclusive meal plan ($95.00 per person per day) and instead bought a few groceries at the convenience store across the street for times when we didn't want to eat out. We did buy some meals and drinks at the hotel, which you can do by pre-paying at the "coupon" desk. The food was pretty good, but it does help to have an adventurous palate and be willing to think out of the box.

Here are a couple things that prevent me from giving it 5 stars:
1. A room with an ocean view, or at least a balcony. We had a room with a "lagoon view" which was still not bad, but it would have been nice to at least have my morning coffee out on a
balcony. We asked for an ocean view room; they said they'd see what they could do but then assigned a lagoon view with no explanation.
2. The beds were not that comfortable, they only supplied one pillow that was too flat for my liking and the sheets were rather stiff and starchy.
3. Be wary of offers for "free breakfast", "welcome party" and the like. It is probably a disguise for a sales presentation for pitching their "Vacation Club". It wasn't overwhelming, but can be an annoyance.

All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: If you want an ocean view, you might want to try more persistence than we had. I don't know what...

“Cancun wedding trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Have stayed at all inclusive hotels before, but never in Cancun or Mexico. While all your tips are included in these type vacations, we still gave tips to our waiters, bartenders, maids, etc. The staff at the Omni Cancun Hotel & Villas are excellent. A couple of dollars here and there goes a long way for these extremely hard-working people. For example, each time we came into the dining room (there was always about 10 or more of us), we were basically waited on hand and foot. The food was outstanding, and they even prepared a large catch of fish we had from a deep sea trip while there; done for a very nominal fee. Going back in 2013.

Room Tip: Lagoon rooms cheaper than ocean view, but all are outstanding. If you have to six persons, say 3 co...

“gets better every year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We just returned home from our third trip to the Omni Hotel in Cancun. This hotel just keep getting better. The staff is very friendly and very helpful, they take care of everything from the moment you arrive. After being there before it was nice to be welcomed back. the hotel is very clean and well kept. the shows in the evening are fun and we always get a good meal with choices of where to eat. I'm sure we will be back next year. THANK YOU OMNI !

Room Tip: All rooms are nice but the ocean view you see the sun rise.

“Great Hotel in a good location in Cancun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

We have stayed at the Omni Hotel in Cancun a number of times, as recently as in February 2013. The hotel is very nice and could have a five star rating if it did not have to be compared to other hotels such as Ritz Carlton. etc. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and nice bath rooms. make sure you get a room withe balcony and ocean view. The view from the balcony is breath taking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The entire hotel is immaculately clean and the staff constantly cleans the grounds and the common areas.

Cons: Difficult to get an ocean view room. The all inclusive rate is very expensive if one does not drink alcohol or eat a lot. In the past the restaurants in the hotel allowed guests order individual items from the menu and pay for that item. This is not allowed any longer. A hamburger can now cost as much as $20. A dinner can cost up to $50 or you can buy the all inclusive for $90 a day for a minimum of 3 days. The management is trying to persuade the guests to purchase the all inclusive plan during their stay, There is no other disadvantage.

I will stay here again if I can reserve a room facing Gulf of Mexico.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony and ocean view are the best.

“Overrall Great Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

We visited the Omni in Feb for a long needed getaway. I was a little concerned after pouring over the Trip Advisor Reviews, but we both ended up loving it.
THE GOOD: Awesome facilities, awesome location, very easy access to bus system to get to attractions (ie Coco Bongo, Senior Frogs, etc). Great staff that goes way out of their way to serve you. We were there during the superbowl and they set up one of the conference rooms with balloons and a whole buffet of "american food" with servers bringing drinks. Great food with multiple options. Great pools, swim up bars. Beach is right there (with awesome swim up jacuzzi bar- my favorite). AquaWorld close 10min walk for scuba excursions. Wasnt very crowded, easy to find pool chairs.
THE "BAD": entertainment is a little lame, but honestly if you need them to entertain you all the time at an all inclusive resort in Cancun then you have bigger problems...no real nightlife, there is on bar that is open till 1am, no nightclub. There was an unspoken expectation for tips, which could be a little awkward, but not a big deal (we basically didnt tip the whole time). This is picky, but there was nothing I would consider a "hot tub"-->warm tub.
RESTAURANTS: there is one buffet that open breakfast/lunch/dinner-->always great options. As far as fine dining you get two nights, we loved indonesian. Viva Mexico pool bar great tacos/burritos/burgers. Poolside sushi bar was more than I expected for mexican sushi.
Excursions: recommend Coco Bongo, scuba (wreck dive), XPLOR, Chichen Itza, parasailing

Room Tip: We had a Lagoon facing room, it was decent, didnt really spend much time in the room.
