We visited the Omni in Feb for a long needed getaway. I was a little concerned after pouring over the Trip Advisor Reviews, but we both ended up loving it.
THE GOOD: Awesome facilities, awesome location, very easy access to bus system to get to attractions (ie Coco Bongo, Senior Frogs, etc). Great staff that goes way out of their way to serve you. We were there during the superbowl and they set up one of the conference rooms with balloons and a whole buffet of "american food" with servers bringing drinks. Great food with multiple options. Great pools, swim up bars. Beach is right there (with awesome swim up jacuzzi bar- my favorite). AquaWorld close 10min walk for scuba excursions. Wasnt very crowded, easy to find pool chairs.
THE "BAD": entertainment is a little lame, but honestly if you need them to entertain you all the time at an all inclusive resort in Cancun then you have bigger problems...no real nightlife, there is on bar that is open till 1am, no nightclub. There was an unspoken expectation for tips, which could be a little awkward, but not a big deal (we basically didnt tip the whole time). This is picky, but there was nothing I would consider a "hot tub"-->warm tub.
RESTAURANTS: there is one buffet that open breakfast/lunch/dinner-->always great options. As far as fine dining you get two nights, we loved indonesian. Viva Mexico pool bar great tacos/burritos/burgers. Poolside sushi bar was more than I expected for mexican sushi.
Excursions: recommend Coco Bongo, scuba (wreck dive), XPLOR, Chichen Itza, parasailing

Very safe, friendly hotel on the hotel zone of Stayed in sea view room which was very clean and towels changed every day. Wifi in room was an additional cost but there is a business centre. Can be confusing as some clients tip the waiters. Food was varied and there were many options so if you are fed up with the buffet you can try the other restauraunts. I had the all in package and I thought it was well worth it, even though I didn't drink very much alcohol. Prices in Cancun are based around the American Dollar which can work out expensive for Europeans. Porters and restauraunt staff were the friendlist. I think the hotel needs a few more sunshades over the beds.
The beds on the beach with cover were gone by 8am. When the wind gets up there is very few places for shelter. Normally always get a massage at the hotel I am staying in but thought the prices in the spa were overpriced.
Weather - humidity was high - so hair turned to frizz!! when it rains it really rains, but when the sun shines its lovely. The red flag on the beach stayed up while I was there for the weak

We stayed at the Omni from Jan. 28- Feb. 5. This is our family's 6th time to the Omni and every time it's fantastic! The hotel is beautiful, the people that work there are so nice and helpful, the food is delicious and the beach is breath taking. It's like everyone down there is one big happy family. I won't go into great details since I have already done that in previous reviews. But I will give you a few helpful suggestions. If you eat at La Paloma's for breakfast or lunch ask for Roberto. He is one of the most attentive waiters down there. He knew what we enjoyed eating so well, that as soon as we sat down he was already getting it for us. Same with Enrique, who worked at the Pina Colada restaurant down at the beach. Another outstanding waiter was Luis who worked at La Paloma's at dinner time. He was so friendly and attentive. Ulises and Herlinda were our servers around the main pool and they were outstanding! We never had to wait for a drink. Sylvia, who waited on us at the lobby bar, once again very friendly and attentive. Alexandra, Charlie and Elliot, the entertainment staff around the main pool area, were great fun. Our son really enjoyed them very much. Actually, everyone down there are exceptional and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy. It's just nice knowing that there are people down there that do remember who you are and treat you like your part of their family. I am grateful to everyone that works at the Omni, from the person who takes our bags to the wonderful women who cleaned our room everyday. It was simply another amazing trip and we will definitely miss you all until we meet up again next year. Gracias!

My wife and I just spent a week at Omni Resorts Cancun. This was the second time we have been at an all-inclusive, and while this does not claim to be five star (like our last one) we found it to be very good.

The Omni Cancun is a very nice place with spotless rooms, very friendly staff, excellent service, and good food. (This was not cruise-quality food, but there was always something good to eat!) Actually, the sushi bar and the poolside restaurant that served wings and these heavenly shrimp tortillas were more than pretty good … they were great!!

Beautiful and crystal clear pools, (though rather cold in January) and a great beach pretty well sum up the place.

We did a Wednesday to Wednesday rather than the traditional Saturday to Saturday week, and it was excellent. We are not drinkers so didn’t take advantage of the free alcohol, but this did not seem like a party kind of place. People seemed to be here to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. There were organized poolside activities, if you were interested, and each night featured a show. The shows were fairly family-oriented and entertaining with something different each night (though at least 4 nights had the same dancers, but different music, costumes and dances).

We read the reviews before we came and frankly did not see a lot of the things that people seemed to complain about.

We made the trip through SunWing and the flights were on time, the service good, and we were even served a hot meal. We were met at the airport and dropped off in front of the hotel with professionalism and smiles.

It took a while to figure out how, or if, to tip. My first thought was that this is supposed to be an all-inclusive so I should not necessarily have to tip. However as I thought about it, when we go on a cruise, we are charged $11.00 per day per person for tips, so for two of us that is a hundred and fifty bucks a week. So at the Omni we ended up tipping whenever we got good service … a US dollar, or if extra good service a 20 peso note (about $1.50 US) or for an excellent evening meal service 50 Pesos (about $4.00 US), and two dollars a day to the housemaid. The staff seemed to appreciate it and their friendly greetings and what seemed like a desire to serve us the next time we walked in made it well worth it. It came to about ten dollars a day. Inexpensive compared to a cruise!

If you are looking for a relaxing, comfortable place, this works very well.
