“Surpassed Expectations!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

The Omni Cancun far exceeded our expectations. My husband and I just returned from a 6 night stay, December 1-7 in a lagoon view room with the all-inclusive package. We traveled with my parents who were celebrating their 30th anniversary while on the trip. Overall the resort is amazing; however we have two small complaints. One being that the elevator was terribly slow the first 3 days of our trip. This made it almost impossible to use unless you wanted to wait 15 minutes (literally), my husband and myself took the stairs a lot during that time but they were dirty and smelled awful. Luckily, they opened a new set of elevators which worked much better. Another complaint was the entertainment in the evening was really lacking, which is fine if you don’t care to stay up and watch a show but for us it was boring in the evening. They did karaoke two nights which was a joke, and not a joke as in fun. It was awful. Casino night was pretty lame and the dancing show they put on was not much better. Everything else I can assure you was amazing; this is just some information that I would have liked to know prior to booking my vacation.

A helpful hint, you can sign up on the Omni website prior to coming in order to receive free Wi-Fi in your room. It’s under LOYALTY on their website and you just have to join. Make sure to take your select guest number with you or print out the information. Free is much better than paying $14.95 a day that we would have had to pay had we not signed up.

Here is some more in detail information:

FOOD: Every morning breakfast is served in La Paloma which is very good. Made to order omelet’s, eggs, tons of fruit, pancakes, along with other Mexican dishes. Bacon is not served on the buffet but if you ask you waiter for it they will gladly bring you some out. There are lots of places open for lunch. We really enjoy sushi and it was great to be able to grab a roll or two while you’re handing by the pool. Viva La Mexico is another restaurant located near the pool. They offer tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, hamburgers and hot dogs. We ate here a couple of times just to grab a quick snack. Everything was really good and comes out fresh; this is open 12-8. Pina Coladas, open 12-5 is the restaurant open right on the beach and this I thought was very good. Lots of seafood selection to pick from. We enjoyed the view with lunch a couple of times here. Pina Colada turns into La Deva at night but unfortunately during the week we stayed it wasn’t open so we didn’t get a chance to try it. Everything was delicious, I cannot complain about the food at all however compared to other resorts we have stayed at their restaurant selection is slacking. Dinner in the buffet was just that, a buffet. Nothing was awful but nothing was spectacular either. We were able to book Da Vinci 3 times while we were there and every single time is was impressive. Great food, make sure to take advantage of your reservations here. Also, it is fancy so there is a dress code. No shorts or flip flops for women and collared shirt with closed toed shoes for men.

DRINKS: Were GREAT, not watered down and you could definitely get the top shelf liquor if you asked for it. I stuck with the Electric Lemonade which was a frozen melon drink with vodka in it. All you have to do is ask for the top shelf brand but I will give you a tip, if you just say top shelf they think you want just extra of the top shelf. You actually have to ask for specifics.

POOLS: The pools were always cold during our stay but felt okay once you were in them. I think the ocean was warmer than the pools were. We enjoyed most of our time sun bathing or relaxing at Kuku’s which is the Jacuzzi hot tub that they keep only a little warm for it to be enjoyable in the heat of Cancun.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and would recommend this hotel to others looking for rest and relaxation. This is definitely not a party hotel, but for lying by the pool and relaxing it was just fine for us. I hope you have as great of a time as we did.

We had a group of about 16 close friends old and new who gathered for the Celebration of our dear Friend Julie who turned 50 on November 17, 2012. This is a trip that will be remembered often or as often as our minds will let us remember. LOL. The staff and crew at the Omni made us feel like we were at home and welcomed us with a smile every time they greeted us. Scott and Tina were the best and welcomed us with open arms. I will never forget this trip as I am not Fitty yet!!!!!!!!!
thanks,
PWag

I recently spent five days at the Omni Cancun. I opted for the "all inclusive" package (which I'd never done before). I must admit I was a bit skeptical about only being able to eat during posted meal hours and well liquor that I'd never heard of and having to pay for upgrades to both. I was so happy to find that this was not the case at the Omni Cancun!! I could eat literally 24/7 (room service was open all night) if it was possible to be hungry after having multiple options for dining at the different restaurants on-site (which were all included!). I was also happy to see that I could have liquor brands I actually liked - top shelf liquors all included! Gratuities were included and the service was wonderful and being well-trained Americans, we always tipped a few extra dollars, and our servers truly went above and beyond for ANYTHING we needed. The sleeping rooms were very comfortable. The property has a nice, modern fitness room and there are multiple pools and, of course, a spectacular beach. I will go back!

Room Tip: While you can't beat the ocean view rooms, the rooms on the other side of the hotel offer wonder...

My family and I have vacationed in Cancun many times, staying mostly with the Royals, which
are a great place to stay. 2012 we stayed at the Omni, all-inclusive, for the first time and had
a great time. Of course, the hotel staff makes or breaks any vacation stay and the staff was
outstanding and could not have asked for better service. Highly recommend.

Omni Cancun is the perfect place to celebrate with friends, as we did, coming from all over the U.S. From the moment we stepped into the van, arranged through the hotel, until, sadly, we returned to the airport, we were treated to exceptional care, great food, beautiful surroundings. From management to the kind and friendly people who cleaned up after our sometimes loud and always happy group, we could not have asked more. Thank you Scott and all those associated with Omni Cancun for giving us the best vacation experience one could ask for.

Room Tip: If you have an ocean view, you have a great room.

Just returned from 5 glorious days with friends at the gorgeous marbled Omni Cancun Hotel & Villas. 14 of us stayed in the hotel and 2 were in a villa. The views from our balconies were stunning. Every aspect of the Omni property was so well maintained - clean, freshly painted, no signs of wear, not a fallen leaf on the lawns. The facilities are so well laid out that, even if were they at full capacity, you never got a sense of too many people. The multiple terraces containing separate pools give you the option to be as engaged in activities or blissfully remote as you choose. The beach Jacuzzi bar was a blast and a great venue to mingle. The many choices of eateries were also astounding - made to order local style quesadillas, tacos, etc, in the Mexican "hut", or Sushi and sashimi in the Sushi Hut offered light, fresh simple fare to graze on throughout the day. Sandwiches and salads at the Swim Up Bar were great, too. We tried the upscale Italian restaurant the first night and had a lovely dinner for 14. Weekend breakfast and lunch on the beach were added options. The main buffet restaurant had a wide variety of choices at every meal, and believe me, we tried all of them! But what really makes this place top notch is the staff. Everyone from the doormen to the gardening crew were so friendly and welcoming. The servers in all the bars and restaurants were engaging and seemed genuinely to enjoy their work. They were infinitely patient, even with less than courteous guests, no request seemed too difficult, no question too dumb. Tipping is how it all works and they certainly earn it, so bring plenty of small bills!

Room Tip: Don't think there are any bad hotel rooms! Whether they face the lagoon or the gulf, the views a...

We booked our vacation with Dream2Travel. We got a great deal and knew we would be required to listen to the high pressure sales pitch to purchase a vacation timeshare. We arrived at the airport in Cancun and tried to get to the private shuttle that was waiting, but got sidetracked by a tourist activity salesperson. My advice is to say No Thanks and scurry on past. Our driver had our name on a sign and we greeted him, he helped with the luggage and were taken straight to the Omni. We checked in, went to our room, looked out the balcony and saw beauty. It was after 10:00 pm so we went down and walked around the different pools and bars to check out the grounds which looked amazing at night. The lobby bar had several people there, so we joined that area and had a few drinks. We read before we left to tip the bartenders, servers and pool servers and you will be glad you did, so we gave him a nice tip. Then we went back to the room and ordered room service. The burgers, fries and a personal pizza arrived and were very good! The next morning up and went to the breakfast buffet. Great selection, hot and cold foods name your own omlets or eggs, coffee great, cream not so much. Now off to the pool (pools). We loved the pool with the chaises in the pool. The pool server came, drinks ordered, delivered and a nice tip given and he treated us like royalty! The dinner buffet changed nightly, Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican, etc. it was okay not bad or great. Our server Jose was outstanding and catered to my dislike for the soup and had the chef prepare something different to my surprise. Jose was awesome and we asked for him every evening. That night and the following days, when we walked in a bar or to the pool, we were greeted and treated like movie stars. Now for the 90 minute presentation...they were really nice, not hardcore, but persistent enough to keep lowering the deal. This is not in our budget now, but if we did have the money, it sounds feasible. So after about two hours we shook hands and parted. Back to paradise. Outside the Omni, we took the bus downtown for .85 and the taxi varies some charged 12.00 -15.00 negotiate before you get in. My advice - the bus if not in a hurry. Overall wonderful and we will be going again and bringing more friends and family.
