My husband and I are from Chicago and we visited the Omni Hotel in June 2008. We fell in love with the hotel! It was of a reasonable size, but what was outstanding was its service, rooms, food and atmosphere. When he proposed in 2011, there was no other choice for me, but to plan my wedding at the Omni Hotel. As the bride I was skeptical of allowing someone else to plan my wedding day, but it worked out wonderfully. Jesus Gomez our wedding coordinator planned it to perfection. We were in constant contact via email and phone. He answered all my questions in a timely fashion and always had ideas or options for me to consider. Most importantly he was willing to work with me as my ideas changed. His greatest help came to me when unexpected guests showed up and he presented me with the option of day passes. My guests stayed for the day and participated in all the events that were already scheduled for us. He was a lifesaver.
Our wedding day/week was amazing. It was truly a fairytale wedding. I scheduled an appointment at the Salon/Spa and was truly surprised by the enthusiasm and willingness of the staff to make me feel like a queen. I did not wear a veil and instead opted for fresh flowers in my hair. I did not know the name of the flower I wanted and the staff immediately looked it up online. They called the florist who brought me an array of flowers to choose from. My hair and make-up was fabulous. Near the time of the ceremony Mr. Gomez personally delivered my bouquet to my room and was always present to make sure that everything was going as planned. He greeted my guests at the lobby and made sure to guide them towards the Terrace where the ceremony was held. When I saw the terrace I was moved to tears. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! The flower arrangements, the bows on the chairs, the minister, the ocean view, it was what I had wished for and more. When the ceremony was over, we proceeded to the Pina Colada Restaurant for our reception. Our waiters were excellent and always kept our glasses full. The DJ played the music I had chosen and kept my guests dancing until it was time to end the party, but the night was still young and we all made our way to the Lobby Bar with its lively music. Upon our return to our room, the staff surprised us with rose petals on our bed and a bottle of champagne.
My family and friends who accompanied us were thrilled with the hotel. There was something for everyone to enjoy. Some family members liked the different ethnic nights and their shows. Others liked lounging by the pool and participating in its activities while others played beach volleyball and met guests from other countries. Those that had young children liked how safe the hotel was and that the staff recognized the child and their parents.
It has been a month since our return and we still continue to talk about the Omni Hotel, its staff and its food. The Sushi Bar, the Viva Mexico Restaurant and Da Vinci Restaurant offerred excellent quality menus. Visit Miguel, the server at the Paloma Restaurant who is friendly and someone that will make you feel like family. If you are planning your wedding or special event, I highly recommend you contact Jesus Gomez at the Omni Hotel Cancun & Villas.
