Our first introduction to this place was in the restaurant for lunch, where we went while waiting for our room to be readied for us. Balam was our waiter, and he took very good care of us our entire stay! In fact, for the most part the staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. However, they need more assistance at the front desk; most times we had to wait awhile before we were taken care of (at least 10-15 min). Since you had to make reservations there for the Mexican restaurant next door, it was a pain...
Our room was good, but the shower set-up made a mess, with water EVERYWHERE! As we were all-inclusive, we were able to take a couple things from the in-room refrigerator...but you have to be very careful as most of the things in it are extra. Large bottles of water are free, but they charge for the small ones. Free Internet was spotty throughout the resort...
The breakfast buffet was good with a lot of choices, but not so over the top that you ate enough calories for the entire day. The a la carte restaurant for lunch was excellent, while the buffet was adequate. They also had a snack bar by the pool, which we didn't try. The Italian restaurant was OK, but we really enjoyed the Mexican restaurant next door "Hacienda El Mortero" which was also a part of the all-inclusive (though certain items were extra); the atmosphere and entertainment was great, and the food was luscious!
The lobby bar inside was comfortable and never crowded; entertainment was ok. Top-shelf liquor, however, was additional, and they did have snacks available. The pool area was very nice and a good size; they also had beach frontage which was pleasant for walks.
The location is great if you want to leave the resort...it's within walking distance to the flea market, Hard Rock Cafe, shops, Coco Bongo and not too far from Senor Frog's.
This place wasn't bad, and I am surprised it isn't rated higher on TripAdvisor. (We were able to avoid the time share presentation, so I don't know if that made a difference!) I would consider coming back again....
