“Have average to low average hopes for this hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

Hotel rooms are small and dated. No refrigerators until you ask for half the day to get one. They advertise suites but are not actually suites. They are selling some time share (hotel Share is what they called them)units but you can't book them or upgrade to them. So it is just a big tease. Restaurant for breakfast is small crowded and has poor food selections and not tastey. One bar near pool (small). You can buy all inclusive or non inclusive. Save your money and get a non inclusive package. Location on strip is great. Shopping and restaurants in walking distance. Bus runs all the time and very user friendly. I would recommend staying in that area of the strip but in a differnt hotel. The beach is big with white sand. This part of the strip is located on the ocean with good size waves. The other part of the strip is located on the bay or lagoon.

Room Tip: Try a differnt hotel. Best rooms overlook the pool 2nd floor or better.

My boyfriend and I visited Cancún during July 2014, we bought a flight-hotel deal with Volaris and everything went perfect.
From many options we had, we chose the Flamingo Cancún Resort because we've read some nice comments about its location and the beach front.
They were not wrong, the beach in front of the hotel is amazing; turquoise color waves; and at all times there was a lifeguard by the shore warning swimmers to be careful.
The overall service at the hotel was very good, everyone was really nice.
We recommend to take the junior suite, it has a shared terrace and an amazing ocean view.
Also a good idea: take the Buffet for breakfeast, it doesnt add much to the final cost but it saves time when finding out what to eat around the city. I dont recommend the all inclusive deal because we didnt stayed during the day in the hotel, we rented a car (Hertz; weird costumer attention but worked just fine) and organized day trips to the parks and ruins. So we had a heavy meal in the morning at the hotel and when we came back at Night we would have something for diner and voilà.
Tip: if you buy your entrance tickets for Xel-ha at the counter next to the front desk you get a small extra discount.

My husband and I stayed for 8 nights at Flamingo.
We arrived at 11:30 pm and after check in we were told there was no restaurant or room service available. We asked where we could find/buy/order some food and got no answer. No fridge in the room, so we would be thristy too. Fortunately the door man told us about a small convenience store just across the street.
During check in we were told we couldn´t get 2 keys for the room, so we would have to stay together all the time... I insisted and was told to ask for another one in the morning. I did and got it, but it didn´t work. I would go back to the reception desk, get a new key which worked, but then, my husband´s wouldn´t work.
No phone in the room. Sheets were clean, but there was a hole on the blanket.
Room not really clean. Good mattress, though. Buffet breakfast was good, but there are lots of tours you have to leave at 7am and breakfast starts at 7. No lunch box available.
In my brother´s room there was no chair, although there was a table. We asked for a chair 3 times, but got none. He gave up...
There is a a la carte restaurant "Albatros" at the hotel and we decided to try it for dinner. Although there was only 2 tables taken in the restaurant, it took us 8 minutes to be seated. When we were at the table, I asked for the drinks and wines menus. The waiter put his hands on his waist, looked at me as if he were annoyed and said there was no drinks menu. I asked what he had for drinks and he kept on a impolite attitude, telling me he would be very tired if he had to tell me everything he had there. We gave up and went to another restaurant.
At the beach, the waiter kept insisting for us to rent the hotels bed...
Location is very good... In front of Flamingo Mall (typical mexican souvenirs available and money exchange), Outback and Bubba Gump.
I wouldn´t recommend the hotel, unless you are really an easy going person...
By the way, we didn´t pay for the all inclusive system, and we were glad we didn´t. We took a look at the buffet dinner and it´s not really worth it.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that face Kukulcan Boulevard... noise may be disturbing...

My friends and I stayed here last Summer. On arrival we were asked whether we wanted to upgrade to a room with an ocean view. Though we declined as it was quite expensive, we were upgraded for free anyway.

The room itself wasn't particularly fancy but it was clean. I would definitely recommend having an ocean view otherwise you'll have the view of the main road and the restaurants opposite.

We were a group of young girls and I found that there were a lot of Mexican families and older couples staying at the hotel who weren't particularly friendly and spent most of their holiday staring at us.

The hotel itself never seemed particularly busy so there was a rush to save sun beds with towels early in the morning. I preferred the pool next to the beach rather than the one near reception as it tended to be quieter.

The food at the hotel was horrible!!! Some days I wasn't even able to recognise what it was. We weren't told this by the staff but there was an a la carte restaurant next the beach which you could eat in every night instead of the buffet. Though the food there still wasn't great, it was better than the buffet.

We had friends staying at the hotel down the road and when they called the hotel and asked for us, the hotel said that there were no English people staying at the hotel and when they came to see us they were told they couldn't come in and the hotel didn't pass on any of their messages to us.

The hotel is a short bus/taxi ride away from the clubs and restaurants. The bus stop is right outside the hotel which made travelling easy. Taxis were quite expensive but the bus was really cheap and came frequently.

Overall, the hotel wasn't great but it was cheap and clean and I still had an amazing holiday.
