“A Marvelous Stay at Le Blanc”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

What is there to say about Le Blanc that hasn’t been said over a thousand times!

The number one thing Le Blanc has going for them is the level of service. Service is something that is hard to beat in the area as service in Mexico has always been beyond impressive. Le Blanc adds an extra oomph to service by adding options other resorts do not. For example; the butler service is quite remarkable. They offer to unpack and pack your luggage on arrival and departure. Every evening they bring a type of chocolate truffle. Any time you want to use the hottub they fill it for you and add bath salts and room aromatherapy of your choice. I requested this service using the Le Blanc app (which is awesome, you can book all sorts of services using the app) from the beach and at exactly the time I asked it was ready. To top it off the Jacuzzi had pink rose petals around it and on the floor. They have a pillow menu which is awesome! On arrival the butler heard me mention I like sparkling wine and the wine arrived to the room minutes later.

The butlers get up to call the elevator for you, obviously this is not necessary but these are the kind of service oriented details they have at Le Blanc that makes them stand out. Another item I never seen at a resort or hotel before is in addition to a hair dryer they also have a flat iron in the room. The mini bar has a full bar and a variety of soda’s & juices. You can request something specific with the butler and he will assure you have that in the mini bar. Mini bar snacks were granola bars, M&Ms, snickers or milky way, and Ferrero rocher chocolates. You have a bottle of wine in the room on arrival.

Food and drinks were of very high quality, the dinners were exquisite. Loved the Italian and the Orient restaurants; food was amazing and the menu options were plentiful. The wine included was good, one thing I noticed here that stood out is when you order a glass of wine they actually had options and the entire bottle is delivered to your table.

Rooms are lovely, not over-sized but well appointed. we had a partial ocean view. The view was amazing. In fact I could not get enough of this view that I had breakfast in the room every day in front of the french balcony with the fresh morning breeze. Speaking of breakfast, everything was great with the exception of the eggs benedict which were average. Room service at 2:00AM was impressive.

The resort credits are great, check out all that is available and use them to get the best value out of them for your needs. I used the credit at the jewelry store and the spa and it was well worth it. We only had $150 spa credits which we used for a massage and deluxe pedicure and only paid $32 out of pocket which is a great deal as the spa and services were excellent.

Le Blanc may not be everyone, the night life is quiet and the hotel style is very modern and spa like. Some people love this others hate it. Not a fault of the hotel but people need to do some leg work before booking. The focus here is service and attention to detail with high quality drinks and food. You are within walking distance to the Cancun night life, if that is what you are into.

Suggestions/areas for improvement:

The pool areas are beginning to show a little age. The beds/cabanas on the beach should be of much better quality to match the price tag.

A live band in the lobby or lounge who plays latin music, salsa, or anything latin would be nice. Maybe even a mariachi band on occasion. One night at the lounge the DJ played some Latin music which impressed me a great deal and then a guest requested they play some obnoxious pop loud nonsense which ruined the beautiful vibe going on in the lounge. Same group of people caused some sort of confrontation within their own group. I know Le Blanc aims to please guests and can’t control the nonsense caused by their guests but this is so obnoxious to deal with! That is why having a salsa band for instance may add a different element where guests can’t exactly go ask them to play Laday Gaga.

Overall it was an excellent stay and we were treated beautifully by everyone there! Happy Vacationing.

My husband and I stayed at Le Blanc in november 2011 and had a wonderful stay. The accomodations are beautiful, the staff took great care of us and the food was excellent.
I would like to comment however on the room description issue. I saw another review that mentioned problems with this... I was rather disappointed when we arrived to Le Blanc on our first day and we had been placed in a Lagoon View room (which, depending on what floor you are on, can be more of a "traffic view"). I called down to the front desk and requested an upgrade and they told us the person that dealt with that would not be available until the next day. On the following day, we were told that we could upgrade if any rooms were available but, of course, none were. I asked them if there is a way to book a room with them and ensure an actual ocean view room. They said that unless you have proof of honeymoon or anniversary (requires a copy of your marriage license) or are a part of their time-share program, that could not be gauranteed. We saw many rooms open during our stay but somehow none of them ever opened up for us to switch. I was pretty aggravated by this since we spent a considerable amount of money on this vacation but decided to enjoy ourselves anyway. The rest of our trip was fantastic since we tried to avoid our room as much as possible and spent a lot of time at the restaurants, in the pool and out on the beach. Best vacation we have had by far but might reconsider going back there if there is a possibility of getting stuck in a room with a bad view again. Maybe the #2 hotel with an ocean view room...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

My wife and I stayed at Le Blanc the week of Feb 20-27 2013 for our 25th anniversary. This place is fantastic. Our experience with it is basically the same as the majority of people. The food and service are top notch. The people are friendly, helpful and eager to please and really do try hard to make sure you are happy. It is worthy of it's number 1 billing and it's AAA five diamond award. The place is clean, our bed was great ( best sleep in a while ) food and drink aplenty. It's redundant to say what the vast majority of others have already said. It has a great rating and reputation for a reason and I will try not to repeat what others have said. Moving on to some criticisms then, let me say that they are minor and will not prevent us from going back. They are criticisms of personal preference rather than anything the hotel is doing wrong. Some people may enjoy the things we did not. Let us begin:

Le Blanc wants to be a place of ultimate and complete relaxation and elegance, which it is. However in our opinion may be too much so. Inside it is almost all white with white sheers from the 9th floor to the first. To us it seems sterile and antiseptic, like a hospital. Very little color or decor. Minimalist chic artsy farstykinda thing. There is almost nothing of Mexican culture in here. The music is a new age type Moog synthesizer, spa atmosphere music throughout the main floor which is meant to soothe and relax, we assume, but gets creepy. It's like the weird music from the Blade Runner movie and it's kept at a very low decible level. The 3rd floor pool is only slightly better, but not much. The place is quiet-very quiet. When we go to Mexico, we go for a small taste of the culture. Why do all resorts insist on playing american oldies or pop? I can hear that at home. Surely the braintrust can come up with a decent soundtrack of nice mexican music to play without splitting the eardrums. Also the night life is non-existant here. Karaoke, fire shows and Michael Jackson impersonators. Not great and since we've been to Cancun 8 times now, a little old for us. The main lobby bar is dead most of the time. My wife and I were the oly ones there after 10:30 PM. Makes for great service. The place was mostly empty. So if you're a high society type who is used to the pampering or a high powered exec who needs to unwind you may love this place. It is always quiet. We just felt it could use a little more life. The only other minor issue was at times it was hard to find some one at the main pool to order drinks from and service could be a tad slow there. Otherwise the staff will set up your chair, lay out your towels, the butlers jump up to get the elevator for you and so on. You won't have to lift a finger to do anything.
The staff is the best part about this place. All are friendly, courteous, polite and eager to please, but some go above and beyond. Our list:

Javier on the 3rd floor pool. Excellent waiter. Prompt, courteous without fawning over you. Once he gets your routine he will set up your chair, towels and drinks before you get there and will change them out without you ever knowing he was there. Comes by at the right frequency to ask if you need anything. Nice man as well.

David the manager of the international/main restaurant. Great guy. Friendly and seems to be personable with his staff laughing and encouraging them and praising them often. Also eager to please with a great sense of humor.

Marco the manager of the Italian restaurant. Very nice man with great people skills. Friendly, always busy and very professional. Both him and David should probably be higher up the management chain. Listens to criticism and responds to it. Also a great guy. Keep it up!

Guillermo the bartender in the main lobby. Another extremely polite, well spoken man that can make a great drink. We enjoyed talking to him. His entire staff was fun.

Lucinda. She works around the main pool. You'll know her because she is always smiling and so cheerful it's contagious. She loves life and it shows. Thanks Lucinda

Our butlers on the 8th floor Enrique and Mario. Great job guys. Appreciate all you did for us. Very helpful

Sharai ( Sarah ) Main lobby bar. Beautiful, friendly girl and great hard working waitress. Keep smiling Sarah and congratulations on your recent engagement. Best of luck.

Others to mention: Daniel in the Italian restaurant, Eli in the international, Jennifer in the lobby bar, Francesco, Roberto, Jeannette, Ivan.....miss you all. Hope one day to be back.

The International and Italian restaurants were our favorites. The french was OK. Not into the Oriental so much. If you have the credits ( or the money ) the romantic dinner is a must. Beautiful. We had a full moon in a private cabana on the beach. The sax player was great and it comes with steak, lobster, wine and champagne. Very tasty and romantic. Can't say much about the beach other than it was clean. It was very windy every day we were there and we didn't want to get sandblasted so we stayed around the pool mostly. Did go for a couple of walks down the beach though. Water was too rough to go in.

Would definitely go back and highly recommend it. The people make this place. Whoever does the personel hiring is doing a good job. Just wish it was livelier

This was a great hotel, with the best staff ever. The waiters, butlers, pool staff, and hotel staff went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable, exceptional expierence. The restaurants service was superior, and the food even better. The spa service was out of this world.

We have been to Cancun/Riviera Maya several times and have visited different hotels. By far, Le Blanc is the best resort. We went as guests of VIP members of the Palace resorts and were picked up at the airport by a private vehicle. By the time we were driven to Le Blanc, we were already checked in and there were welcome drinks waiting for us at the door. The room was already prepared with the specified comforts such as special pillows and aromatherapy. It was a rest introduction to Le Blanc. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you wanted to, they would even iron your clothes for you -- for free! We didn't really use that because it was a little over the top but that is an example of the service they provide. What we did utilize was the butler service that was available on every floor. My husband arranged for a surprise for me. He told them approximately what time we would get back from our all day excursion. When we got back, the hot tub was filled with hot water with bath salts. Rose petals were all over the tub. There was a bottle of chilled champagne in the ice bucket and chocolate cake and truffles. There was a banner that said "Happy Anniversary". That was amazing! They do go out of their way to make you feel special and welcomed.

The spa was impeccable! It was clean and relaxing. We opted for the Kukulcan couples' massage which is an experience in itself. It was supposed to be a more traditional Mayan massage with two therapist on each person simulating the movements of a jaguar, snake, or eagle.

The food at the French restaurant was our favorite. We also did the romantic dinner. The food was good and the experience of eating on the beach under the moonlight was very romantic.

What can I say? We thought we were tired of Cancun after so many trips but the Le Blanc experience has changed our minds.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade. It will be worth your while.

We just arrived today. We chose Le Blanc to celebrate our anniversary and booked an ocean view room. You can see in the photos the view we had from our room. Went back to the check-in desk and talked to Liliana and Ricardo, the manager. They insisted that that was what we booked and nothing else was available, except two corner suites which Liliana said abruptly are part lagoon view, part ocean view. We visited one of these rooms at the third level. What they mean by partial ocean view is a few inches view of the ocean at the corner of your window. So if you ever are willing to book one of these rooms be aware of what you might get. We went back to Ricardo once again and asked if there are any lagoon view rooms, which are less expensive than ours. The first thing he said was "there will be no refund". He then looked up on his computer and found one such room. We decided to switch the rooms and he gave us the new keys and the keys from our old room so we could move our luggage!
I didn't feel at any point that neither Liliana nor Ricardo were compassionate about our experience or tryed to accommodate us better. I had to insist two times to find out if any other rooms were available. At some point Ricardo irritated said to me, "Ma'am you’ve already been upgraded." and then he quickly had a smile and hit his head as he realized he made a mistake. I said, "No, I haven't received any favor". The butlers are not an exception either. The first one we met showed us the room and as soon as I showed my disappointment with the view changed his face and said coldly that I should go to the front desk and talk to them. After that he said “Thank you for your time” and left the room.
Other guy, who was sent to show us the rooms, on his way talked to other butlers about us being unhappy with the first room and having to show us another one. He didn't know that I understand Spanish and therefore their attitude towards us.
The hotel is luxurious, but the customer service is poor, which obviously doesn't make me want to visit again.
The lagoon view would be nice if you were on a business trip, however I keep the blinds closed to try to feel like on a vacation and not in a city.
I also had in mind one of these hotels: Live Aqua Cancun, Royal Cancun, Secrets Maroma Beach, or Iberostar Grand Playa Paraiso. I chose Le Blanc for our anniversary and I was treated miserably. Le Blanc is deceiving with rooms descriptions. If you want to compare hotels and customer service, try an Ocean View room at Live Aqua Cancun for three nights and compare with the photos I posted here. Then decide for yourself.
