“Best couples retreat ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2011

I have never seen such a great service with a smile on all the staff faces.
From day 1 to day 7 everything was exceptional.
They treat you like you are the best, on the beach, restaurants, butler and other services.
They can prepare you bath while your are having dinner, wine on the ice, chocolates by the bed, zen music and romantic ambiance all over.
Food is very good all over, if anything is not up to your satisfaction they will adjust .
Location is key, close to downtown to go out, and 20 minutes walk to La Isla Shopping Village.
You can also benefit from other restaurants at Cancun Palace.
For those who complain about the resort credit, well get a life. Credit of $1500 is well explained, 500$ for spa, manucure and pediure free, 25 back massage free. You also get choice of excursion free. For the remaining $1000 credit it can be used on several excursions, photo shoot, which we did, golf, night out and others. Yes they will try to book you the timing sharing style meeting at the other resort for and extra credit or products, we declined nicely, besides that it was most amazing hotel experience ever.

We went to this resort during spring break in March and were worried it was going to be loud. That wasn't the case at all. This resort was so quiet and relaxing and the service was unbelievable! The food was awesome, great workout room, amazing spa. Great honeymoon spot or even a quiet get away as a couple or group.

Stayed at LeBlanc 2/23-3/1. Hotel was beautiful, our rooms were very nice & clean. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Great 3rd floor pasta & pizza in evenings, had the floor to ourselves, they played good music for us. It is a pretty quiet hotel, but lagoon pool also played music for us. ,the front pool played relaxing spa music. Beach is the best in the strip.Stayed at quite a few different hotels over the yrs. Would go again.

This was our third trip to Le Blanc. On this trip we learned just how much the hotel occupancy rate can impact your stay and experience. Occupancy was very high - 85% (we were told two groups were there, one of which was travel agents) - compared to 30 - 40% on our other trips. We did feel a difference in service and ambiance due to the high occupancy rate. Our butler, which we admittedly would rarely use anyway, was only seen once or twice during our week stay. Chaise lounges around the main pool were being "saved" as early as 6:30am, which made remaining selections poor by as early as 8:30am. This was definitely the "rowdiest" crowd we'd seen there. Usually Le Blanc is fairly sedate, quiet and relaxing - which we like. We found this louder, more crowded scene to be an intrusion on the peace and tranquility we'd experienced on our other two trips. Service around the pool and on the beach remained outstanding. As soon as you were seated, a bucket full of iced bottled water arrived and was refilled throughout the day. Waitresses continually floated by taking drink orders. Food is delicious, extremely high quality for an all inclusive. The waiters are friendly and attentive. The spa is outstanding. We had no trouble using the wifi in our room, the signal was strong. We would definitely return here, but because we prefer it more quiet, next time we will ask about anticipated occupancy before we book.

Checkin

The check-in process was very quick and easy. As you pull up to Le Blanc your car stops at a gate, where your name is verified to confirm you are staying at the hotel. As you pull inside and step out, a bellboy is there to take your bags and walk you inside, where you are greeted with a glass of coconut milk, a fresh towel and a flower. You are then seated at a table in the lobby to check in. Checking in while sitting definitely beats checking in while standing! Check in was very quick and smoothe and you weren’t required to leave a credit card on file, although you are asked if you would like to. After check in, you are escorted to the elevators and on the way shown a desk which you are asked to come back to, to discuss how to use your palace dollars. This may or may not be where they try and discuss the “timeshare” with you, but we never ended up coming back and never heard one word about a timeshare during our whole week. We ended up booking all our palace dollars through our butler and through the main concierge.

Rooms

The rooms were fantastic! We stayed in an oceanview honeymoon suite, it had everything that was necessary, and the room was very functional. We barely fit our two suitcases (28”) on the sole suitcase stand (no room for any additional ones in the room) and had to end up turning both suitcases sideways, but we made it work. The TV experienced some occasional signal loss on some channels and from the channels that are available, the majority are in Spanish. We absolutely loved the Jacuzzi, and despite the small balcony we had an amazing view from the 4th floor. Water pressure in the shower was good, and the two showerheads and jets were very nice. The rooms were cleaned every day in the morning and then turn down service occurred each night. With turndown they would leave some petit fours on some days and always leave a guide to next day’s activities. One thing that has been mentioned here before, which we can confirm is definitely true - poor soundproofing from the floors above. If people are walking around in heels on the floor above or moving furniture around, you really do hear it, not the end of the world but maybe pack some earplugs if you are a light sleeper! Wifi is available throughout the resort for free and you get a good signal out at the pool or in the lobby, the signal in our room on the 4th floor wasn’t very good, we had to move close to the window for a better signal. A business centre is also available with multiple computers and a printer and you are given 30 minutes of free internet. This was another great perk and we used it to check in online for our flight and print our boarding passes. Unlimited free calling is also provided to continental us and Canada from your room.

Pools

There are 3 pools at the resort and all were amazing!!! Each pool felt heated; however the lagoon pool was consistently the warmest. The wait service in the pool area was always up to par you were never wondering where somebody was. There were always multiple servers taking orders and bringing drinks. Drink menu and food menus are available from the servers and at the bar. The servers brought around trays of fruit, popsicles, and pizza slices as snacks, on top of the snack menu. The loungers are a little hard, but nothing that a few extra towels couldn’t fix.

Food

The restaurants were one of our favourite parts of the trip. The resort wasn’t at full occupancy and we never had to wait for a table at any of the restaurants. In fact, most of the restaurants on most of the days had anywhere from half to 1/4 empty tables. The service at all the restaurants was good with multiple waiters waiting on the table. For breakfasts, most days we went to the breakfast buffet at the International Restaurant, which was excellent and had a good variety of food. The service was excellent, always quickly seated and staff offering to take your plates back to your table for you! For lunch, most days we ordered out to the pool or beach and food was delivered quickly. We were able to order things not on the menu such as onion rings and guacamole and all our requests were taken care of. One day we checked out the lunch buffet at the International and it offered a good selection of food. For dinner, we tried the Italian X3, Asian X2, French X1 and had our romantic dinner moved inside to the International. The Italian was our favourite although the Italian, French and Asian all had a very nice ambience, great service, delicious food and beautiful food presentation. After we had our romantic dinner inside the International, we weren’t to keen on the ambience for dinners so didn’t return for any other dinners there. We ordered room service for breakfast, appetizers before dinner, late night deserts, wine, water and fruits on multiple occasions and the food was always delivered quick and was very good. For the Room Service breakfasts, you would fill out a paper and hang it on your door the night before, like most hotels although first time seeing it at an all-inclusive. The menu was pretty basic (American, continental), however there was room for other requests.

Service

The service at Le Blanc is probably what sets this resort apart from others. It was really second to none. The butlers on each floor were very friendly and tried to accommodate every request possible, when they saw you heading towards the elevator they would even push the button and have it ready waiting for you! The room service was amazing and always very quick, our items always arrived right away-as if a person left for our room right after our request was put through. The staff at this property work very hard and provide a genuine, high end level of service. It is warm and authentic, and it really made a difference!

Entertainment

Most people know before booking Le Blanc that this is not the hub for entertainment, so we weren’t expecting anything crazy. At turndown service, a guide is left in your room with activities for the next day. You can also pick up the guide from the concierge and there is a TV screen in the lobby flashing different events. The list of daily events seemed quite extensive, from pilates, yoga and other fitness classes in the morning to cooking, Spanish classes amongst others; however we didn’t end up trying any of them so we can’t comment if they even ended up happening. We did see a game of volleyball on the beach every morning and a game in the lagoon pool every afternoon. The entertainment at night consisted of bands and karaoke most nights, with the exception of 2 nights – a samba show and fire show. We ended up checking out the fire show which took place on the beach and it was really good! The resort set up appetizers on the beach and had staff bringing drinks to you during the show. The show wasn’t too long, just the right length of entertainment before heading for dinner.

$1500 Palace Dollars

We had the palace dollars promotion which entitled us to 1,500 palace credits. From that we were able to spend $500 at the spa, which let us both have 2 massages each and 1 manicure. The spa itself is beautiful aesthetically and the facilities were quite nice. The service at the spa and massage quality however was hit or miss. We also did the jungle tour (86$ per person), which included transportation to and from the hotel. The coast guard closed off the sea that day because the water was too rough and we only found out about that once we arrived at the marina. They gave us an option to reschedule or to just drive the boats around the lagoon. We choose the latter, and it was fun BUT at some points in the lagoon the water does get very choppy!! The rest of our palace dollars (plus some additional cash) were put towards Moet Champagne ($165), limo ride to the airport ($260), and romantic beach dinner ($450). Our romantic dinner got rained out and they moved it into the international restaurant; while the ambience wasn’t the same as it would have been on the beach, the meal and Moet champagne were fantastic!!! If you don’t feel comfortable leaving your credit card number on file, you can go to the front desk and deposit cash into your file to make up the difference of any services. We did this the last night because we were short for a bottle of champagne, just remember this should be done before the service is booked or “bought”.

Checkout

Checkout couldn’t have been easier. The hotel must have reviewed our file beforehand and saw there was no outstanding balance because they literally just cut off our wristbands, and gave us a checkout ticket which they said we could show to any of the restaurants or bars if we wanted something before we left, such a breeze!

Overall

Overall, we loved Le Blanc!!! We were looking for an upscale property with all the amenities, great food, and warm pools where we could relax and enjoy the sun. We got everything we wanted and much much more at Le Blanc, the staff are absolutely amazing!! In comparison to our stay last year at Excellence Playa Mujeres (another fantastic resort), Le Blanc offers a higher level of service, probably one of the best you will find at an all-inclusive, a higher level of food with beautiful presentation and heated pools. Excellence offers a bigger more expansive property off the strip, a gorgeous theatre with daily shows and is an excellent value for the price you pay. We loved both resorts, but Le Blanc is definitely a level up and we would recommend it to anyone who is considering it.

My husband and I stayed at Le Blanc from February 28 to March 6th. I had read all the reviews and was not disappointed. It is a gated hotel, and on arrival you are greeted by a wonderful doorman who rolls out a mat for you as he hands you a cold towel to refresh. You are then handed two delicious coconut type drinks and directed to check in. The woman who checked us in was not the best I must admit, but all in all she was about the only staff member I had anything negative to say about.
I would warn a couple of things. Firstly, a French Balcony is not a traditional balcony. It is simply two large sliding glass doors with a mock balcony. Most all the rooms have this type of balcony, so if you expect to sit outside you need to qualify that before you book. We asked to be upgraded which came at a cost of $52.50 per night additional - and they did accommodate us the next day. The other caution is that this hotel sells memberships, similar to timeshare only specific to the Palace chain. They do the typical pass off to another person after you check in under the pretense that they will tell you all about the resort and the credit promotions. What they really want to do is have you attend the 1 1/2 hour membership talk. We declined, and I must say they were not too aggressive. We are already RCI members so it was easy to dismiss. Also, while staying at Le Blanc you have access to the other Palace Resorts but they do not have access to Le Blanc, so that was nice.
The rooms were amazing. Gorgeous bathrooms with the best two person jacuzzi I've ever been in. There are two views, either ocean or Lagoon. We had lagoon and at first I thought I would be missing out, but the sunsets on that side and the lagoon is very pretty, even at night. We had a corner unit so we actually had a full balcony and a french balcony. There is a butler on each floor, although you don't see him much he is very accommodating and it's a lovely touch. We tried all the little extras, the pillow menu, the oils, the room service....all excellent and all included. The linens, the bed and the toiletries are also all upscale. We only experienced one evening where the Disco across the street was really loud and did go on until about 5:00a.m., but it was not everynight as one reviewer had indicated.
Liquors are premium brands and everything imaginable is available. Wine's were not the best but we found a couple we liked without paying to upgrade.
The poolside service was just beyond great. They don't miss a trick. They serve on the beach and at each pool all day long. You're never without a drink or snack. They come around with decadent ice cream, cold face towels, fresh fruit and veggies. All very first class and all served with a smile.
The restaurants were excellent as well. Not all the dishes were great but they tried there best. Presentation was wonderful everywhere. We were not overly fond of the Italian because we love Italian and it just was not up to our standard. The oriental was excellent, great sushi, tempura, stir fries, etc; the french was lovely but food at the International was better. At lunch in the International I must tell you the buffet was just fabulous. Everything fresh, so you pick your steak, fresh fish, Kabob, fajitas or whatever and they cook it up on the grill fresh. The waiters make sure to keep watch all the time and always take your plate to your table for you when it's ready. I can honestly say by mid week we stopped eating breakfast because there was just too much food all the time. One of the best all inclusive I've been to.
Be sure to experience the spa. If you don't have credits (we didn't because we got a deal with RCI so credits were not available to us), you still get to use the spa facilities. They have separate areas for men and women, and you get to use the sauna, steamrooms and hot and cold baths for free. The spa is just beautiful, and the fitness room is very well equipped and also included.
As for nightlife and daytime ambiance there really is none. This is a quiet resort, very spa like. They have a small nightclub on the third floor where they do Karioke nights or have a band, but it's over by 11:00pm and on some nights there are no people there at all. The main pool is extremely quiet, no music or poolside events. The lagoon pool has a volleyball net and basketball hoop and does play a bit of music so it's where you go in the later afternoon. But don't expect a lot of activity. Ages are mixed, they range from young to old so you get a good mix of different people, and it is an expensive resort so you do get professional people and not a lot of partying type people who overindulge because the liquor is free. If you do want the nightlife you are withing 10 minutes walking to the main Cancun town where there are all kinds of bars and disco's.
All in all, this resort is top notch. The service is outstanding, the hotel is spotless, the rooms are just breathtaking, great food, and terrific beaches. I would recommend to anyone.

Warning: This is going to be very lengthy. I never write pithy reviews, so if you want to hear a lot about Le Blanc, grab a glass of wine, kick back and read on.

After stewing over whether to go with Excellence Playa Mujeres or Le Blanc, I settled on Le Blanc because of all the great reviews. I was apprehensive because of the cost, but figured "what the heck". My husband and I will be celebrating our 24th anniversary this year and I figured we could afford to splurge.

Check-In: After being picked up at the airport by USA Transfers (pretty good) we arrived at the resort about 2pm to the cool cloth and coconut drink. Check in was super fast and they took us over to talk to Yasmine about our options. She brought us each a beer (in their prevalent crookedly-leaning glasses which I found a little undesirable), then went over everything from tours to spa and all in between and explained how our 1500 resort credits would work. At the end she asked when we would like to go to one of the other properties to learn more about their vacation packages and I answered "we are going to pass." After a couple of half-hearted "are you sure?"s, she said okay. That was that. She did call one afternoon during our stay to ask if we might have changed our minds. When I answered "no, we are not interested" she said she understood and we never heard anything else about it. From Yasmine's desk we were led to the Int'l Restaurant to have lunch as we had not eaten since early that morning. Then we went to our room to change into our swimsuits and went to the pool to relax.

The room: The room (oceanfront honeymoon suite - Room 404) was lovely but nothing over the top amazing. It was very clean, nicely appointed and sparsely decorated. I'm not sure I would have chosen the enormous jacuzzi-tub that takes up such a large chunk of the lower part of the room though. We did take advantage of its presence and found it pretty nice with bath salts but only used it twice. The liquor dispenser didn't always work very well but it was somewhat handy to have it there in the room. We asked our butler for a bottle of Grey Goose to replace the Absolut, and a bottle of cranberry juice. After a couple of hours we had to ask again, and Antonio (our butler who is ALWAYS smiling and sweet) said he was not able to secure the Grey Goose but got us the cranberry juice. Eh, the Absolut turned out just fine. The fridge had some sodas, juice, water and a few candies like M&Ms peanut, Fererro Roche, Hershey's white chocolate. Nothing really impressive. It also had Dos Equis Beer. I think we drank one Coke the whole time we were there (and of course some water).

The bathroom. It is nice, but it offers virtually NO privacy. There is a vanity/sink area which is mostly open to the room and directly next to it is the toilet/shower enclosed in frosted glass. The "door" to this area is very flimsy and again, just doesn't offer any privacy or insulation. It may as well be in the middle of the room. Both my husband and I found it very unpleasant. We both prefer privacy for dressing and other more personally intimate times but really didn't get any unless one or the other of us went to the very small balcony or left the room. Some couples don't mind doing everything in line of sight and earshot of each other but we are just not one of those couples. Maybe that's why we're still married after 24 years... ha.

The bed: We had a king bed with absolutely perfect comfort for us. We did request two orthopaedic pillows to go with the several softer pillows the bed already had and they were great. We slept well every night. Although we were in one of the rooms close to the elevator, I only noticed noise maybe twice. And I am a crazy-light sleeper. I never even used the earplugs I was so sure to pack. They do a turn-down service between about 6 and 9 - you never know when they'll do it. If we were in the room and we didn't want it, we just put the "do not disturb" sign out. They give you ice, two small "appetizers" - not sure what to call them, they're usually sweet but very fancy looking and not terribly good - put out the slippers, turn down the corners of your bedding, put on the low lighting and turn the TV (32 inch LCD) to a tranquil "Buenos Noches" hotel channel which casts a lovely blue glow to the room. The first time we came back to it, I thought a UFO had landed. Be sure to request aromatherapy. We went with the lavender and it was so wonderful to have that clean, relaxing scent in the room every day.

The free Wi-Fi worked perfectly every time we used it. Free calls to the US were great too.

The pools are beautiful and the service there was almost perfect. There were a couple of times we waited a bit too long to be waited on at the pool but that was only when the lovely Mayra was not there. Mayra is one of a kind. She is a beautiful, kind, happy, very pleasant girl who went out of her way to wait on us hand and foot. I tipped her about $5 or $10 in the morning and she bent over backwards to not only wait on us, but to be as sweet and thoughtful as a person can be. I wish I could see Mayra every day. This morning before we had to leave we went to the large cabana overlooking the main pool to wait for our transportation and get one last view of the gorgeous ocean. It was about 9 am. She caught sight of us and came up to ask if we wanted anything. When she heard we were headed home she seemed genuinely disappointed and asked if we would please come back soon. She was always sincere in her kindness, as were most of the many employees always running around working so hard to make the place look gorgeous and to be sure everyone had what they needed. TIP: If you're at the main (infinity) pool, always sit to the left side nearest the bar. Service is always better there and Mayra is usually there! You can order any drink you can think of and food from the "snack menu", which is not too bad. Be warned - unless you order something from a can or a bottle (beer), the drinks are very weak.

The beach: The beach is absolutely gorgeous to look at. It is breathtaking. The water temp is nice too, but it is too rough and the ocean floor is CRAZY uneven. A person could really sprain an ankle trying to navigate the ocean bottom. We tried to swim in the ocean one day and gave up after about 15 mins and went back to the pool.

The food. I badly wish I could say nicer things about it. As other people here have mentioned, it is presented beautifully but is consistently marginal at best. We tried so hard to like the food but every time we tried something new we had a new round of disappointment. It was just plain mediocre. And some of it was really bad. We found the International Restaurant to be the best of all of them because there are so many choices, you almost always find at least one dish that you like. The desserts are simply awful. We would pick a lovely-looking dessert that was labeled "cheese cake" or "apple pie" and it would taste nothing like the label suggested. One thing we learned is that they use the strangest combinations in their food. Like "brownie with mint and lemon" and many, even stranger things. And it tastes as strange as it sounds. My husband mentioned that it seemed as though they were really trying to be "Avant Garde" in their gourmet cooking but all it is is STRANGE. And many times gross. We were disappointed that the Int'l only had fresh fruit at breakfast. It's the caribbean - there should always be fresh fruit. One positive about the Int'l - their omelet cook - a lovely older Senora (don't know her name) cooks an amazing omelet with the ingredients you choose and she does it with a smile and a great personality. This morning she heard we were leaving and prepared strawberry crepes special for us. It was such a kind gesture I wanted to hug her. The PEOPLE are fabulous. The food, not so much. TIP: use lots of their mexican salsa (kind of a pico de gallo) with your omelet - it is lovely. Oh - they always try to carry your plate back to the table - my husband and I both found this to be annoying more than pampering.

We ordered room service for breakfast twice and it was pretty decent. Very prompt and courteous.

We dressed up our 2nd night and went to the "French" restaurant. I put it in quotes because... oh my goodness. It is French in name only. We call it the "Smoke and Mirrors" restaurant. They try SO hard to be gourmet and formal but it just isn't working. The waiter tries so hard but doesn't really know what he's doing. We chose to use some points on a $120 bottle of Argentinian Cabernet that was seriously worse than the cheapest stuff we could buy at Wal-Mart. The food was nearly inedible. The portions were miniscule and I never thought I'd be so happy about that fact. The escargot was SO horrible I don't think it was actually escargot. We ordered some sort of shrimp bisque but they accidentally gave us lobster bisque and it ended up being one of the only good things. My husband is sketchy on seafood so he was so thrilled they had beef filet as one of the main courses. Only... they didn't. Right before we were to order, they said they had "run out". Really? It was 6:15 and we were the first patrons in the restaurant. POOR. So he got something else that was okay. I got sea bass for a main course and it was pretty good. But overall I would say DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!

For a variety of reasons we only had dinner 3 of our 5 nights. One night was wasted in the "French" place and the other two nights we were so gun-shy from our experience that we chose to stay away from the other two "specialty" restaurants and instead went to the International. For dinner, they change from a buffet-style restaurant to a Mexican Food/Steakhouse place. The first night there we went for Mexican. Even though it wasn't on the menu, I asked our server Fausto (adorable) if I could get Gazpacho. He went to the chef to ask, and they brought me the most delicious gazpacho I think I've ever had. It was nothing like I'm used to, but it was wonderful. I also got the grouper filet, and it was fine - not great, but okay. My husband got the tortilla soup and the chicken enchiladas poblanas. Both were excellent. The desserts - pretty much the same as I've already described. Meh. The main chef in that restaurant is a sight to behold though - tall, handsome, dazzling smile - it's fun just to be around the guy.

Our last night we again chose to go to the International. It was a good choice. We had the same soups but my husband got the Chicken Mole' and I got the enchiladas. They were both great. No dessert for us this time. About halfway through our dinner a saxaphonist came through and played beautiful easy jazz for us. It was a nice touch.

The only tour we chose to do was an absolute BLAST. We did the Isla Mujeres Tour through the resort, but with a twist. It is run through an independent company who picked us up at 10:30 (too late we thought) and drove us over to a local marina. When you get there, one of their guides comes and explains what will be happening. They offer snorkeling or swimming with dolphins, etc, at a beach club, where you can also eat and drink, which is included, and just hang out at their pool if you wish. We ferried over there with the rest of the group, and let me tell you it was QUITE a ferry ride. They crew were just NUTS, putting on a show for us and getting everyone involved. Made the 40 minute ride seem very short. Once we got there, instead of hanging around while they tried to convince us to pay lots of extra money to swim with dolphins (done it before, not impressed) we shared a taxi with another couple with the same idea and went to the north end of the island where we rented a golf cart and tooled around all afternoon seeing what we wanted to see. It was such great fun. A bonus is that it was the day before Mardi Gras and there was lots of Carnavale going on with women all dressed up in their fiesta garb and parades and such. We went to the Tortuga reserve (turtles) - it was just under $3 per person and it was pretty lame. The turtles were cool but there were only a few. There was a huge sea turtle in a holding tank but it just made me sad. He was so impressive but seemed so sad. I would be too. Not nearly enough room in that tank for such a big, formidable guy such as he.

We found our way to the southernmost tip of the island, "Punta Sur", and found it to be breathtaking. The cliff jutting out into the water was gorgeous and there were great big iguanas sunning themselves all over the rocks. They seemed unafraid of us, which made taking pictures a cinch. We stopped in to see the vendors there. They pretty much had the same junk everyone has - T-shirts, bracelets, very colorful trinkets - and they give you the hard-sell. Meh. So we hopped into the golf cart and took off again for sights as yet unseen. The houses and buildings are so interesting. It's not commercial at all and we found that refreshing. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend doing this tour, but only if you go off on your own like we did. I think we had the most fun. The ferry ride back was twice as insane as the ride there, complete with dirty dancing and tequila being squirted into our mouths. My husband and I had such fun after spending the previous few days at the very quiet, sometimes boring Le Blanc.

That brings me to the atmosphere. Le Blanc is known for its tranquility and relaxation. I have to say, they have it down. But after a few days of that, my husband and I (in our mid-40s) were about to lose our minds. We were simply bored. We needed some action. Heck, half the time we would walk the grounds and see almost NO ONE ELSE! We couldn't figure out where everyone was. It was strange.

One night we decided to sit in the hot tub (no one else there), then walk the grounds while drying off. We happened upon the Cena/Samba show at the Moon Pool, which was AWESOME! These kids are really talented and know how to put on a show. I recommend you check your agenda that they give you at night during turn-down service and do not miss the fire show or the Samba show.

One evening it was about 7 and we were really wanting some action of some sort - people to talk to, something to see - so we went to the 3rd floor sports lounge place called "Le Blanc Stage" where they sometimes have karaoke and such. There was not a soul in the place except for the bartender. So my husband and I racked up and shot some pool. The bartender seemed so excited to have someone in there that he cranked up 80s music and watched us play for awhile. We were in there about 1.5 hours and one couple walked through. They didn't even stay. Oy. On our way out, the waiter at the
3rd floor snack bar place motioned us over. We went over and he begged us to sit and drink some wine (of course there was no one else there). So we did. He poured us some Gallo Zinfandel (sadly, one of the best wines we had there) and prepared us a special pizza without us asking. We had our hearts set on doing Mexican at the Int'l so we had two glasses of wine and bowed out of the pizza. It was very sweet of him and kind of sad - these people are begging for customers! We thanked him profusely but explained that we already had plans, tipped him and went on our way. I hope he was able to eat it or take it home. It just underscores the scarcity of people around there in the evenings.

The Spa: I know I will regret it but I only did the hydrotherapy there. I should have done some treatments but never found the right time. The spa is beautiful and peaceful and pretty much what you'd expect. The hydrotherapy consisted of sauna, cold shower, steam room, foot jacuzzi, full-body hot jacuzzi, tepid tub and cold tub. And you can do the circuit as you wish. It was nice and relaxing and I found everything to be clean and pleasing. BRING MONEY WITH YOU! I didn't realize I would have a dedicated attendant for hydrotherapy and I had nothing to tip with. I spoke to other guests who swore by the treatments so use your credits! If you stay 5 or more nights you will have $1500 resort points, $500 of which you can use at the spa. 80-minute massages cost about $190 points or so. So you can easily book several treatments. I hear the stone massage, the honey body scrub and the aloe wrap are great.

Here is a warning. We spent about $450 on tips ALONE in the 5 days we were there. We occasionally tipped big for special servers and oh my gosh... they act as if you've given them the world. It did our hearts good because these precious people deserve every tip they get. We are pretty sure the only way the resort can afford so many employees is that they don't pay them very much, so when you tip them, they really, really appreciate it. We tipped everyone - the maid, the butler, the wait staff, the bartenders, the pool staff, the drivers, the doorman, the ferry crew, etc. Not a ton, but a fair amount. And I don't regret any of that. What I can't stand is to see the guests who sit back and allow these people to work their tails off for them, and give them nothing for their efforts. We tried to counter some of that.

Overall, I would say it wasn't a waste of money, but we will likely never go back. It's just a little too pricey for what you get. If it had been a couple hundred less per night, we would probably go back but only if we really needed to do NOTHING. Next time I believe we will opt for one of the more active resorts. We'll probably give up a lot in aesthetics, but we will gain some fun.

Thank you for your detailed review, it is as valued and much appreciated by us, people working at Le Blanc, as by travelers and, hopefully, our future guest .Your comments on every aspect of the resort is priceless to us. Every point you covered in your review, from the check in moment, to every detail in the room, spa, restaurants and quality of services is either an opportunity for us which we won't miss, or a pleasant notification of our effort to make your stay enjoyable which we won't take for granted. I would like to thank you as well for mentioning the names of the people who attended you here, such as Mayra at the pool and Antonio as your butler, as here at Le Blanc people are our greatest value. And once you feel like you need a quiet and peaceful moment with your husband somewhere in Caribbean Sea, I hope you will think of Le Blanc, and we will get one more opportunity to welcome you to our resort. We wish you a very happy 24th anniversary this year!
