“Hotel De Sweat”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2004

If you like sweating, borderline uneatable food, and poor service then this is your place. Both of our rooms were unbearable due to the motion detector controlled electricity which kept our rooms between 85 and 95 degrees daily/nightly. I consider Golden Corral amazingly flavorable and a wonderful dining experience and the Hotetur food was much worse than anything served throughout my elementary cafeteria dining career. I am not exaggerating at all. There was a large group of us surviving off french fries, sliced cheese and bread. I have stayed at other Cancun hotels and consider this the absolute worst but maybe I was just spoiled by the others. Positives: ice cream before it melts, their beach, french fries, and sliced cheese.

“good place to just hang your head..!”

This was our first time in Cancun. I booked on line and the price was right. It did not include transportatoin to the Hotel, but the bus ride was fine and enexpensive. The rooms are older, they were kept clean, nice staff. They smell a bit musty, but for our first time, it was fine. It is great for persons who want a place to store their stuff, and sleep. Room size ok, t.v. very small, but who stays in a room in Cancun? Pool and beach nice. Drinks keep coming, but not premium liquors, but it was okay. Rooms air-conditioned, but not the Hotel. Its open, still was attractive. Food was mediocre, but you just take the shuttle bus to town or anywhere and can grab a great meal. We would stay here again...just to be in Cancun. It is not luxurious at all, but suits a vacation need to see Mexico.

“Good value, great fun at the Hotetur Beach Paradise resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2004

We just returned from Cancun, where we were pleasantly surprised, after reading previous reviews, with everything about our June 16-19, 2004, stay at the Hotetur Beach Paradise. The resort is clean and attractive (recently renovated) and easily accessible to anywhere in the hotel zone or into the town because of the 24-hour public bus that picks up right by the hotel.

But it was hard for us to leave to go anywhere else because our beach was so beautiful and ongoing activities were appealing both day and night. Throughout the day, the pool/sundeck/snack bar area is the center of non-stop music and fun. Energetic activities staff involve everyone desiring to participate in programs such as pool games, competitions and exercise, and pool and beach volleyball, etc., which were as much fun to watch as to play. And the swim-up bar encourages those in the water to get acquainted with other guests. Or you could just enjoy private time in the room relaxing on your balcony with a glass of wine, a good book, and beautiful views.

In the evenings, hundreds of guests gather for theme night programs including karaoke, skits and competitions, and shows such as the costumed Mexican dance review. The open air theater rocks with laughter and applause for 2-3 hours, followed by an optional guided group trip for those desiring further night life (at a cost of $35 including travel, cover charges, and open bar at several local clubs.)

While the hotel's buffet food wasn't all wonderful, each meal produced good variety and something enjoyable (such as the fabulous guacamole, delicious coconut ice cream, fresh fruits and juices, great omelets, and opportunities to try something new and different as well. Getting a dinner reservation in the Meditteranean restaurant was a hassle, but the food and service were fine once you were seated.

We certainly felt the whole experience was one of good value and great memories for our first trip to Cancun, and we hope to return soon to the Hotetur (or whatever it will be called next year!:)

“hotetur beach not paradise”

The hotetur beach paradise has horrible food. My stay was for a week and I know that I lost weight because the food was horrible. My room was so so, but there was no water pressure in the shower. Also, there was no hot water in the shower. It was cold. The best thing about the hotel was the people that stayed there. They were very friendly and nice.I don't recommend this hotel. It's too far away from shopping and the clubs. All in all I give it a very bad rating.

“Great Family Vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2004

We stayed at the Hotetur Beach Paradise from 02 Jun 04 to 07 Jun 04. Needless to say we were very worried after reading the reviews on this page. After checking in and seeing our room over looking the beach I was pleasently surprised! The A/C worked, the room was in good condition, and the beach was wonderful. The food was not too bad. I would suggest having a couple meals outside of the hotel for a change. The beach was very nice unlike the reviews I read. The pool was great. The staff was top notch. Pablo and Patty really made things fun, and made my 2 boys feel like they belonged. Even all the other guest were friendly. They had entertainment every night, and volleyball, and other stuff during the day. My wife and I even won 2 dance competitions (even though I can't dance)! The only thing I think they could improve on is the food. If any of the staff reads this I would like to say thank you for one of the best vacations my family has ever had!!!!!!
